Naegleria fowleri, colloquially known as a "brain-eating amoeba", is a species of the genus Naegleria, belonging to the phylum Percolozoa, which is technically not classified as true amoeba, but a shapeshifting amoeboflagellate excavate. Wikipedia

Species: N. fowleri

Class: Heterolobosea

Genus: Naegleria

Domain: Eukaryota

Order: Schizopyrenida

Phylum: Percolozoa

Family: Vahlkampfiidae

How do you get a brain amoeba: Naegleria fowleri usually infects people when contaminated water enters the body through the nose. Once the ameba enters the nose, it travels to the brain where it causes PAM, which is usually fatal. Infection typically occurs when people go swimming or diving in warm freshwater places, like lakes and rivers.

Symptoms: The initial symptoms may include headache, fever, nausea, or vomiting. Later symptoms can include stiff neck, confusion, lack of attention to people and surroundings, loss of balance, seizures, and hallucinations.

In 1862 after the discovery of an orchids with a 30 centimeters length flower, Darwin predicted that there should be some kind of moth with hoses of the same height that can pollinate yen. The aforementioned moth discovered 21 years after Darwin's death.
