In a week and a half, members of the Coalition for Palestine will give an update to Mass Peace Action about MIT's ties to the genocide in Gaza: Israeli military funding for MIT research, MIT collaborations with Israeli state-owned weapons giants, ties to Caterpillar D9 bulldozers, Project Nimbus, the criminal Gaza 'Humanitarian' Foundation and much more.

On July 24th, 2025, inside sources revealed the MIT Laboratory for Atomistic and Molecular Mechanics initiated a brand new grant proposal funded by the Israeli Ministry of Defense (IMoD). On the same day, Israel murdered at least sixty-two Palestinians, nineteen of which were seeking aid. This is the fifth IMOD grant MIT has proposed since October 7th, 2023; this is the fifth attempt to directly collaborate with the genocidal Israeli military.

On June 9th, 2025, MIT hosted senior executives from Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI), Israel’s state-run weapons company. IAI is one of the main providers of drones, armored cars, fighter jets and missiles for the IOF. These visitors included VP Avital Schrift, who developed the HAROP “suicide” drones which fly into refugee tents in Gaza and detonate on impact. Another was Inbal Kreiss, an MIT-trained missile designer who developed Israel’s mainline Arrow 3 anti-ballistic missiles. MIT briefed the weapons engineers of a genocidal army on our latest research programs. This is part of MIT’s partnership with IAI via our CSAIL Alliances program; the same day, at least 49 people in Gaza were martyred with the help of IAI’s weaponry.

Because of ties like these, the UN Human Rights Council just officially indicted MIT for its continued ties to the Israeli military.

Gaza is starving as the world watches. Between March and mid-May, no humanitarian aid was allowed to enter Gaza; the aid that has entered since May is not nearly enough to sustain the population. This level of famine is not an inevitable famine; it is a settler-colonial tactic. The Israeli army has deliberately destroyed over one thousand trucks filled with humanitarian aid. Over one thousand Palestinians have been murdered while trying to access aid; many of these massacres occurred around sites operated by the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, an American-run and Israeli-backed organization that violates principles of international humanitarian law.

MIT’s continued ties to the Israeli military in the face of blatant genocide is abhorrent. MIT students and workers of principle must work to hold our institution to account.
