We extend to our brothers in the Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades and the Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas—leadership, cadres, supporters, and the families of the martyred commanders—our deepest condolences for the martyrdom of a group of major leaders who bravely confronted the killing machine that, for two years, has committed a savage genocide against our Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.
We mourn before our patient people the martyrdom of the great commanders: Mohammad Al-Sinwar, Mohammad Shabana, Hakam Al-Issa, Raed Saad, and Hudhayfah Al-Kahlout (Abu Ubaida), who confronted the aggression head-on, neither weakening nor faltering, offering their pure blood and souls for the sake of pleasing Allah and confronting the barbaric assault.
On this occasion, we affirm that the blood of the martyred commanders which watered our pure land will remain the beacon illuminating the path for future generations, and the fuel that sharpens determination toward more sacrifice and devotion until the liberation of our land and sanctities from the filth of the usurping occupation.

We extend our deepest condolences and sincerest sympathy to our mujahidi brothers in Al-Qassam Brigades and the Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas, upon the martyrdom of the commander-mujahideen who attained martyrdom as the seal of their jihad in the path of Allah, in the Battle of Al-Aqsa Flood, and before that in the field of confrontation with the “Israeli” enemy, and who contributed to building a resisting nation that stood with firmness and steadfastness against the most brutal aggression in the history of confrontation with the “Israeli” enemy since the occupation of Palestine.
The magnitude of what the Palestinian people have presented in sacrifice, by its mujahideen and masses – foremost among them Al-Qassam Brigades and Hamas – is a proof before the entire Islamic Ummah. According to the army, the decision follows a directive from the political leadership to reduce the number of reservists planned for 2026 from 60,000 to 40,000 – a cut of approximately 20,000 soldiers – as part of the budget reductions approved by the Ministries of Finance and War.
It is also expected that reservist numbers will be reduced in additional units, including combat command headquarters and the Home Front Command, in the coming days. The impact of reducing manpower – by nearly a third – will be reflected in increased workload on the deployed fighters, who will be summoned for longer service periods, while leave days will be limited.
Despite a preliminary understanding between the army and the Finance Ministry, reservists will continue to be called up under Order No. 8 rather than regular mobilization orders. Around two months ago, a temporary governmental order or a change to the Reserve Service Law was discussed to reflect the security situation since October 7, but recent disputes between the parties – along with opposition from the Attorney General – prevented this change.
This means that tens of thousands of reservists will continue to be summoned with short notice and under the restrictions of Order No. 8 – an order intended for emergencies – despite the war having ended approximately two and a half months ago.
