Un pezzo bello e ritmato nella storia degli anni Ottanta è Kid Creole and the Coconouts, una band di New York che ruotava attorno al suo frontman, il polistrumentista (preferibilmente un bassista) August Darnell (nato Thomas Darnell Browder), una specie di Prince del Calypso.
