世界上最大的集装箱航运公司 Maersk 下了一个 14 亿美金的 8 艘碳中和货轮订单。

卫报将此称为“全球货运史上减少碳排放最显著的一步努力”。

这些新船将于 2024 年交付，比纯电 F-150 更 Nissan Leaf.它们容量达 16000 集装箱，只比著名的“长赐号”卡在苏伊士运河时候所载的 18300 个集装箱少一点。

Maersk 表示它的 200 个最大客户（包括迪士尼和亚马逊）中超过半数保证或者已经着手减少它们供应链的碳排放。

所以即便这些新船会贵 10 - 15%，Maersk 认为客户会愿意承担这些成本以求更少的污染。

Maersk, the world’s largest container shipping company, is placing a $1.4 billion order for eight new ships that run on carbon-neutral fuel.

The move is the “single largest step taken so far to decarbonize the global shipping industry,” the Guardian wrote.

The new ships, which are expected to be delivered by 2024, are more electric F-150 than Nissan Leaf. With the ability to handle 16,000 containers, they’re only slightly smaller than the gigantic Ever Given, which was carrying 18,300 when it got stuck in the Suez Canal.

Maersk said that more than half of its 200 largest customers, including Disney and Amazon, have pledged to reduce carbon emissions in their supply chains, or are in the process of doing so.

So while the new ships will cost 10%–15% above traditional prices, Maersk thinks that its customers will be willing to pay more to pollute less. – NF

在集中型动物饲养场中，小猪出生10天之后就得断奶（自然界中13周才断奶），因为比起母猪的乳汁，含有药物的强化饲料能让小猪长得更快。提早断奶会让猪终其一生都渴望吸吮和咀嚼，而在受限的猪舍中，它们只能啃咬眼前动物的尾巴来满足这项生理需求。对于这种干扰，正常的猪都会抵抗，但是丧失生存斗志的猪则会放弃抵抗；用心理学的说法，就是“习得性无助”。

在集中型动物饲养场中，这种情况并不罕见，因为那里上万头猪在其一生中，都不知道有泥巴、麦秆和阳光，它们挤在铁皮屋顶下，脚下是金属条搭成的地板，地板下是粪池。猪是聪明的动物，生活在这种环境下，难免会觉得沮丧，而沮丧的猪会放任自己的尾巴让别的猪咬，结果产生伤口而受到感染。治疗病猪并不符合经济效益，这些表现不佳的产品通常当场就被棒子打死。

猪咬尾巴的这种“恶行”，美国农业部建议的方法是把尾巴切掉：在没有麻醉的情况下，用一对钳子切掉猪的大部分尾巴。为什么要留下一小截呢？因为切尾巴的重点不在于让猪没有尾巴可以咬，而在于让尾巴更敏感，这样即使意志消沉的猪被咬了，也会奋力抵抗。这个方法之细腻，让人不寒而栗。不难想见，在工业化效率的逻辑之下，必然会产生这种猪的地狱。
