This is crucial to understand: propaganda is not a historical coincidence, it is a structural consequence of rationalism. If you consider the psychological structure of our current society, it’s fair to say that propaganda is the major guiding principle. In a remarkable way, the pursuit of rationality during the tradition of Enlightenment didn’t lead to more Truthful speech, as the founding fathers of this tradition believed. Science would replace questionable religious and other myths; society would finally be organized according to reliable information instead of subjective conjectures. Now, a few centuries later, this turned out to be an illusion. There has never been as much unreliable information as now in public space.
The materialist-rationalist view on man and the world, in a strange way, rather led to the opposite of what it expected. As soon as we started to conceive the human being as a mechanistic, biological entity, for whom the highest attainable goal was survival, it became rather unfashionable to try to speak the Truth. Speaking the Truth, the Ancient Greeks knew that very well, doesn’t maximize your chances on survival. The Truth is always risky. Hence, within a materialist-rationalist tradition, speaking the Truth is something stupid to do. Only idiots do it. That’s how the fanatic pursuit of rationality led us astray, straight into the dark wood of Dante, ‘where the right road is wholly lost and gone’.

Ik krijg soms de aanname te horen dat ik bang zou zijn voor de toekomst. Mensen denken dat door al wat ik deel. Eigenlijk projecteren ze hun eigen angst dan op mij.
Eerlijk gezegd ben ik totaal niet bang. Ik heb juist heel veel vertrouwen in de toekomst en in mijn eigen kracht. Ik weet dat uitdaging en steun hand in hand gaan in de dualiteit. Zie ik veel uitdaging, dan richt ik me eveneens op de steun. Steeds vaker vind ik die ook binnenin mezelf.
Ben ik dan nergens bang voor? Vanzelfsprekend wel. Angsten leven doorgaans omtrent onze hoogste values. Voor mij is dat bijvoorbeeld mijn zoontje oa. Al weet ik dat we elke uitdaging aan kunnen; soms is daar toch wat angst. Gelukkig is er na angst altijd weer ontspanning. Wat helpt is de voordelen bedenken van wanneer mijn grootste angst werkelijkheid wordt. Niets is namelijk eenzijdig.
Uiteindelijk deel ik wat je voorbij ziet komen puur omwille van het besef dat we keuzes kunnen maken, elke dag. Choose wisely 🤍
