One of the most memorable horse races I ever saw was Homecoming Queen winning the prestigious 1000 Guineas in 2012.

She was around 50/1 and shocked everyone by routing the field by 9 lengths. Her career was very short lived thereafter and she didn't produce anything notable as a broodmare, confirming her as the unremarkable mare they thought.
