"You have to give this much to the Luftwaffe. When it knocked down our buildings, it didn't replace them with anything more offensive than rubble. We did that."

Perhaps it's an indication of entering my 30s but I've noticed women obsess over house plants in recent years, even referring to them as "babies".

To me, it indicates a strong yearning for the natural world, from which they're increasingly distanced.

On this day in 1683, Jan Sobieski III crushed the Ottomans with a flank attack at Vienna.

Europe's destiny is a brotherhood of nations, cooperating militarily against the empires that seek to undermine us, be it Turks, Mongols, Judeo-Americans or Chinese.

Today is the Abbots Bromley Horn Dance in Eastern Staffordshire.

The horn dance is a very old folk dance custom, a variant of which was recorded as early as 1532.

No one is entirely sure as to original purpose of the dance, popular theories include the affirmation of hunting rights in the nearby Cannock Chase, though many speculate it's actually a much older Pagan tradition, the original record of the dance only makes mention of the 'Obby' Oss (Hobby Horse).

The antlers themselves are real and have been dated with carbon analysis to the 11th Century. They are reindeer antlers and as there are no records of reindeers in England at that time it's supposed they were imported from Scandinavia.

Here are my four favourite British paintings of the 19th century.

The Hay Wain by John Constable

Ulysses Deriding Polyphemus by J.M.W. Turner

The Lady of Shalott by John Waterhouse

A Vision of Fiammetta by Dante Gabriel Rossetti

My great-great-grandfather said that Constable and Turner were the reason he came to England and he married the model in the Rossetti painting. So without these artworks, I wouldn't exist.

See how these feckless English boomers protest not having a servant on poverty wages packing their bags for them.

They want the free market including the eradication of their folk until they have to pack their own bags, then they start identifying as Romantic Luddites.

It's the same attitude as bourgeois women who refuse to look after their household and children. Instead getting a cleaner and nanny, so they can boss people around at work.
