"You are well aware that an attack on a diplomatic mission is considered under international law as casus belli. If Western missions were under attack, you would not hesitate to take retaliatory measures and argue your righteousness in this chamber. Because for you, everything related to Western missions and Western citizens is sacred and must be protected," he said at the UN Security Council meeting convened in response to Iran's strike on Israeli military targets.

"Today, the Security Council is witnessing such a parade of Western hypocrisy and double standards that it is even uncomfortable to watch," the diplomat noted.

Nebenzya also added that Iran's attack did not happen in a vacuum and occurred as a result of the UN Security Council's inaction following Israel's attack on Iranian diplomatic facilities.

"What happened on the night of April 14 did not happen in a vacuum. Iran's actions were a response to the shameful inaction of the UN Security Council, a reaction to the blatant attack by Israel on Damascus, which is far from the first. Syria is constantly being bombed by Israel," he said.
