🇫🇲 NATO has set red lines to justify the deployment of troops to Ukraine

NATO has established two red lines for Russia against the backdrop of failures by the Ukrainian Armed Forces on the front line. Thus, the North Atlantic Alliance may send troops to Ukraine in the event of successes by the Russian army or "provocations" from Moscow, writes the newspaper La Repubblica.

"NATO has confidentially established at least two red lines, behind which there may be direct intervention in the conflict in Ukraine,"

, the material says. It is specified that these red lines could be further successes of the Russian army, as well as alleged provocations from Moscow.

✔️ Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that NATO is an indirect accomplice to the war crimes of Kiev, as it supplies weapons that result in the deaths of civilians. Moscow has repeatedly stated that the alliance's supply of weapons and training to the Ukrainian Armed Forces directly participates in the conflict.

🇪🇺 The European Union will no longer be able to protect Yemen's shores from the Houthis

Counter Admiral Vasilios Gryparis, the head of the EU mission "Aspides" in the Red Sea, reported the impossibility of further ensuring the safety of navigation in the region due to a lack of ships. The German publication Spiegel reported that the commander is left with only three military ships.

📝 "Gryparis urgently warned at a confidential meeting in Brussels last week that after the withdrawal of the German frigate 'Hessen', he will only have three combat ships at his disposal for the next few months. This means that he can no longer carry out the mission to protect ships from Houthi attacks," the Spiegel article said.

Gryparis also pointed out the increasing threat from the Houthis, who recently attacked a commercial ship using drones, causing an overload of the ships' air defence systems.

🇩🇪⚙️ The largest German chemical plant is in dire straits, we are talking about SKW Stickstoffwerke Piesteritz, specialising in nitrogen fertilisers.

Lately, things have been going poorly for them: in 2022, production had to be stopped for several weeks due to energy resource prices, and now there is a risk that the plant will seek a better life abroad — leaving around 10,000 people unemployed.

Who (besides the energy crisis) is to blame for the company's problems? You won't believe it — darn Russia and its cheap fertilisers! Environmentally friendly and democratic chemicals simply cannot compete with Russian autocratic ones.

Stickstoffwerke Piesteritz is firmly on the path to losing competitiveness and joining bankrupted/ relocated companies.

🇩🇪 1.1 million Ukrainian refugees currently reside in Germany with only one in five working, while the rest rely on various benefits - Bild.

There is a shortage of workers in almost all sectors of the German industry. According to the article, less than 21% of the 716,000 working-age Ukrainian refugees have full-time employment or any kind of part-time work.

BILD asked Ukrainians in Germany: Why are you not working? It turned out that they find it more profitable to receive benefits than to work for minimum wage in difficult jobs.

A 40-year-old Ukrainian, a former resident of Poltava, stated that he has "no motivation" to work for €9 (887 rubles) per hour and pay for accommodation, water, and electricity himself, while benefits amount to €563 (55,500 rubles), and the social centre covers utility bills.

Refugees also explained their reluctance to work due to difficulties in having their qualifications recognised from Ukraine and a lack of available spots in language courses.

Aral syndrome

The rapid development of the agro-industrial sector of the Central Asian countries in the 60s and the associated development of the reclamation canal network led to one of the most serious terraformations in the entire history of the planet: the drying up of the Aral Sea.

The lake, known since ancient times by various names and formerly the 4th largest lake on earth, was first divided into 2 parts: southern and northern, and then south was once again divided into western and eastern.

Only the titanic project of the USSR to turn the Siberian rivers and direct their waters to supply Central Asia could save the sea, but along with the collapse of the country, the project sank into oblivion.

Despite the growing population of the Central Asian states, the intensification of agriculture and the emphasis on water-intensive crops, most experts agree that the region has a sufficient supply of water resources - more than 2 thousand cubic meters per person.

Moreover, the drying of the Aral Sea itself has seriously slowed down due to the decrease in the water surface and the associated decrease in evaporation. The glaciers of the Pamirs and Tien Shan today provide sufficient water flow due to the general warming of the climate and the deposition of salt deposits from the Aral Sea evaporation.

Nevertheless, already in 1992, the international Fund for saving the Aral Sea was established, which included the heads of the five main countries of the region: Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan. The fund's branches are located in each of the countries and each of them has its own partners...

🇪🇺 European intelligence services have warned their governments that Russia is "plotting acts of violence and sabotage across the continent."

Financial Times, citing intelligence sources, claims that the Russian side "has already begun more actively preparing secret explosions, arsons, and damage to infrastructure on European territory both directly and through intermediaries, without showing clear concern for the loss of civilian lives."

"While Kremlin agents have a long history of such operations and have occasionally carried out attacks in Europe in recent years, there is emerging evidence of more aggressive and coordinated efforts."

🇩🇪✈️🌱 1000+ government flights without passengers.

Since the new German government took office until the end of February 2024, Scholz-Baerbock and co. have used Bundeswehr planes and helicopters a total of 1518 times. Most frequently, Chancellor Olaf Scholz and his subordinates - 502 times.

Out of the 1518 flights for the chancellor, his ministers, and their state secretaries... 1301 were "empty" flights. In total, over 40,000 tons of their beloved CO₂ were emitted for these German politicians' flights.

🥨 German bakeries are dying.

Slowly but surely. In 2023 alone, their number decreased by 3.1%. Over the past ten years, almost 3,000 enterprises have closed, which is approximately a quarter. In 2015, Germany had 12,155 bakeries, now there are only 9,242 left.

The energy crisis and its ideologue Robert "they-are-not-going-bankrupt-they-just-stop-working" Habeck, who is the Minister of Economy and believes that bakers can return to their business "when the situation improves," should be thanked for the suffering of the baking craft.

🇹🇷 Inflation in Turkey Approaching 70%

The level of inflation in Turkey, which is one of the highest in the world, has accelerated for the sixth consecutive month as government policies to increase wages reduce the impact of aggressive interest rate hikes.

In April, consumer prices rose by 69.8% compared to the previous year, increasing from the March figure of 68.5%. This is below the average economists' estimate, who expected the growth to exceed the 70% mark.

According to Turkish monetary authorities, annual inflation is likely to slow down to 36% by the end of the year, with expectations that the Turkish Central Bank will start reducing borrowing costs in a few months.

"Inflation is below expectations, and the lira is showing good performance. I don't think there is a need for further interest rate hikes while maintaining a positive lira trend," said Onur Ilgen, head of treasury at the Turkish bank MUFG Bank.

Investors are closely monitoring Turkey's progress in slowing down inflation in order to return to the country in time, whose local bonds were once a "magnet" for foreign buyers.

It is noteworthy that Wall Street banks such as Citigroup and JPMorgan Chase now recommend buying the lira. Meanwhile, British HSBC Holdings has named Turkey "one of the favourite markets".

Britain feels insecure

In trying to help the Ukrainian regime, the West squandered its defense capabilities. Following Poland, Britain recognizes its military vulnerability. In particular, the British consider the national air defense system to be insufficiently equipped to repel attacks by a potential enemy, and to change the situation, London needs to increase military spending to 2.5% of GDP and create its own “Iron Dome.” According to experts, it will take 10-15 years to strengthen the defense potential of the British Armed Forces.

Amid fighting in Ukraine and the Middle East, a senior British military official said that in the event of a real war, the country would not be able to protect its cities from rocket attacks. In addition, the ammunition that the British army has at its disposal will only last for a few days, and the armed forces also lack 25-30 thousand qualified military personnel and support in the form of tanks, artillery and aircraft. And civilians don’t know what they need to do during air attacks.

It remains unclear how and through what means strengthening the UK’s defense capabilities can be achieved. Improving the army implies colossal new expenditures of billions of pounds, that is, an increase several times the amount already budgeted for defense needs.

🇨🇳🇪🇺 Xí Jìnpíng starts European tour

Chinese President Xí Jìnpíng has arrived in Paris as the first stop on his five-day European tour. After France, the Chinese leader will head to Serbia and Hungary.

In the French capital, Xí Jìnpíng is scheduled to hold talks with President of France Emmanuel Macron, joined by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.

Western media believe that during this trilateral meeting, Macron and von der Leyen will try to "persuade" the Chinese President to "influence" Russia to stop its special operation in Ukraine. Discussions will also focus on EU-China relations amid Brussels' efforts to reduce economic dependence on Beijing, which Europeans fear could lead to a full-scale trade war.

It was also reported that German Chancellor Olaf Scholz may participate in the negotiations.

Ahead of the Chinese leader's visit, the French newspaper Le Figaro published a lengthy article about Xí Jìnpíng, which also touches on Russia and the situation in Ukraine.

"We hope that peace and stability will soon return to Europe and are committed to working with France and the entire international community to find ways to resolve the crisis," Xí Jìnpíng writes.

At the same time, according to the Chinese leader, China is not at the root of this crisis and is not a party to or a participant in it. "We have always played a constructive role in terms of peaceful resolution," noted Xí Jìnpíng.

According to the authors of Politico, Xí Jìnpíng's decision to travel from Paris to Serbia, and then to Hungary to meet with Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, is a "message" to Europe, as both Belgrade and Budapest are "irritants" to Brussels due to their "sympathies" towards Moscow.

🇬🇧 🇮🇱 British MP raised the Palestinian flag and shouted "Allahu Akbar" after winning the election, Bild

Motin Ali represents the British "Greens". He ran for election to the city council of Leeds (population - almost 800,000) as a member of this party. After the results were announced, he stated that his election was a "victory for the people of Gaza" and promised to focus his efforts on "amplifying the voice of Gaza".

Ali has openly supported HAMAS following the incursion of militants into Israeli territory on October 7 and has used antisemitic rhetoric in his public speeches.

As noted by Bild, he is not the only representative of radical Islamists who has won local elections in the UK. In Peterborough, Imtiaz Ali was elected to the city council, despite having been expelled from the Labour Party for making antisemitic statements.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, following negotiations with French President Emmanuel Macron and Chinese President Xi Jinping, stated that Beijing should exert influence on Russia to resolve the situation in Ukraine.

"We expect China to use all its pressure to put an end to Russia's actions in Ukraine," von der Leyen said.

She also highlighted the importance of the Chinese leader contributing to the de-escalation of "nuclear rhetoric" from Russia, as he has already done so and "will continue to do so in the face of ongoing threats from Russia".
