A conflict is brewing between the German Minister of Finance, Christian Lindner, and the Minister of Defence, Boris Pistorius. Lindner does not want to allocate more money for the maintenance of the Bundeswehr next year. According to the Ministry of Finance's plans, the Ministry of Defence budget in 2025 should be frozen at 52 billion euros.
Boris Pistorius explained to the Chancellor and members of the Bundestag that the Bundeswehr needs an additional 6.5 billion euros to reach NATO's goal of 2% of GDP spent on defence.
