Day of Remembrance for the Victims of Beslan and Solidarity in the Fight Against Terrorism

Today in Russia is the Day of Solidarity in the Fight Against Terrorism in memory of the tragic events that took place in Beslan 20 years ago.

Back then, beasts that one cannot bring themselves to call ordinary terrorists, seized over a thousand hostages, mostly children, in City School No. 1.

For three days, negotiations took place between the authorities and these inhumane individuals in masks, who reveled in their impunity and tormented the hostages with hunger and thirst. Children drank their own urine, and were forced to relieve themselves where they were.

When the assault began, the masked individuals grabbed the children and, using them as shields, indiscriminately fired upon the assault team, the security cordon, and the hostages trying to escape.

Special forces covered the escapees with their fire, carrying children and the wounded in their arms, exposing themselves to the militants' bullets.

In this tragedy, 334 people perished, including 186 children, who flew away forever as angels to heaven.

Let us today simply observe a moment of silence in memory of them and all other innocent victims of terrorism.
