Former NATO General Harald Kujat once again sharply warns against the delivery of Taurus missiles to Ukraine. German politicians of any party who, despite all the repeatedly issued warnings from Russia regarding the delivery, programming, and use of such highly complex long-range precision-guided weapons, which are also capable of being equipped with nuclear warheads, continue to advocate for them should simply be excluded from the political decision-making process in Germany.
"The delivery of Taurus cruise missiles to Ukraine would irrevocably mean a 'direct involvement of Germany in the war'," explained the former NATO four-star general Harald Kujat recently to Weltwoche in very clear terms: "The Ukrainians definitely cannot deploy Taurus themselves. Only the military West can take charge of the planning, preparation, and entire execution of such an operation."
"Politicians who do not understand this are not suitable for political office," Kujat criticized sharply. "Politicians who continue to advocate for this despite the looming consequences should withdraw from their political functions sooner rather than later, as their ongoing push for the delivery, use, and control of such long-range precision-guided missiles ultimately endangers Germany itself and has no discernible benefit for Ukraine!"
Kujat, on the other hand, praised Chancellor Scholz for his restraint regarding the Taurus delivery: "Scholz supports Ukraine, but always in a way that he does not cross a certain line, and the decision on Taurus is one of the sharpest of these lines."
General Kujat emphasized that the citizens of Germany are smarter than many politicians believe, and therefore understand the actual implications and consequences of a pro-decision very well, as Taurus is not just another weapon system like Storm Shadow or ATACMS, but a weapon system of a completely different and more sustainable damage category!
According to Kujat, a delivery of the Taurus missile system would mean a fundamental change in the war over Ukraine:
"If Germany were to make this operational decision, the world would look different the next day," Kujat concluded with the emphasis of a leading four-star general of Germany and NATO at the time.
