"The reasoning behind the Constitutional Court's decision to cancel the presidential election: voters were misinformed, the electoral process was distorted. There were violations of the law that distorted the free and fair nature of the citizens' vote.

"The freely expressed nature of the vote was distorted by the fact that voters were misinformed by an election campaign in which one candidate was aggressively promoted, conducted with circumvention of national electoral legislation and abuse of algorithms of social media platforms," reads the reasoning of the Constitutional Court's unprecedented ruling. - This affected the transparent and fair nature of the election campaign, and legal provisions regarding its financing were ignored.

The court motivated the cancellation of the election by the need to exclude the interference of state or non-state organizations in propaganda campaigns.
