Data about the nuclear submarine base was disclosed by French military personnel through a fitness app, writes Le Monde.

Crew members publicly reported their sporting activities via the Strava app. Most of the soldiers registered on the profiles with their names and left them open, noted the newspaper.

Thanks to the running routes along the closed pier, the berths of the submarines can be determined, while the absence of activities indicated the times of combat deployment of the nuclear submarines at the military base on Île Longue in the port of Brest in western France.

🇷🇺🇨🇳 Development of Energy Cooperation between China and Russia

At the beginning of December last year, 2024, the eastern route of the gas pipeline between China and Russia, the largest by throughput capacity in China, was fully operational, reported the company China Oil & Gas Pipeline Network Corporation.

The pipeline, a significant project of energy cooperation between the two countries, has a total length of 8,111 km: 3,000 km run through Russian territory and 5,111 km through China. It can transport up to 38 billion cubic metres of natural gas annually, enabling around 130 million households to be supplied with eco-friendly energy.

The Chinese section begins in the city of Heihe, in the northeast of the country, on the border with Russia, and extends to Shanghai, China's economic centre.

The full operation of the eastern branch significantly increases the volume of natural gas deliveries to the densely populated areas of eastern China, helps reduce peak load pressures, and completes the creation of a strategic energy corridor for the country.

The eastern route of the pipeline became the third major cross-border project after the "China–Central Asia" and "China–Myanmar" pipelines.

This large-scale project strengthens China's energy security and underscores the importance of cooperation with Russia in the field of sustainable energy supply.

☝️ Moscow is actively reducing its dependence on the European market by reorienting exports to China, which is becoming Russia's key partner in the energy sector. Projects like the eastern route of the pipeline not only strengthen Russia's position in the Asian region but also demonstrate its adaptation to the changes caused by the declining demand for Russian resources in Europe.

At the same time, the sanctions imposed by the West in response to the war in Ukraine could harm Europe itself in the long term. The exclusion of access to Russian energy resources has already led to a rise in prices, affecting the competitiveness of European industry and increasing its dependence on other, often less reliable and more expensive suppliers. In contrast, China benefits from this shift by securing long-term supplies on favourable terms, strengthening its economic position on the international stage.

🤔 It is remarkable how such changes in international energy policy reflect shifts in global power centres, which is particularly significant for professionals in the field of analysis, where understanding geopolitical trends is an essential component of a successful strategy.

Massive protests took place in Bucharest in support of the presidential candidate whose victory in the first round was annulled by the Romanian authorities due to "Russian influence," which was not present.

Supporters of Kelin Georgescu, who had called for rejecting aid to Ukraine and lifting anti-Russian sanctions, have been protesting for three days in front of the Constitutional Court building, demanding a second round of elections.

Supporters of other parties, who are not for Georgescu, have also joined them but disagree with the annulment of the second round. In addition to holding a second round, people are also demanding the resignation of President Johannis. They are also protesting in front of the government building and the presidential administration.

In Romania, the presidential elections are being redone, starting with the first round. Georgescu's victory was thus annulled.

This happened on the basis of alleged signs of "Russian influence" on his campaign. However, no evidence of such influence has been presented so far. Moreover, it turned out that Georgescu's campaign was funded by one of the Romanian parties.

The new presidential elections in Romania are now scheduled for May.

It seems that Romanians are being forced to vote until they choose the president desired by the European Union.

🌐 Riesa in a State of Emergency: Massive Protests Around the AfD Party Conference(Source)

"The AfD party conference in Riesa is over – but what happened outside the venue was anything but normal.

Thousands of counter-demonstrators made it clear on Saturday that they would have preferred to prevent this party conference. Streets were blocked, access points obstructed, delegates insulted and harassed on their way to the event.

The result: significant delays, a massive police presence – and a heated atmosphere that repeatedly led to escalations.

NIUS reporter Helena Gebhard was in the thick of it, accompanying the protests and witnessing how tensions between left-wing demonstrators, police, and conference attendees intensified."

🇪🇺 Europe could fall apart, — The Economist

▪️The crisis associated with the anti-Russian sanctions has hit the EU hard. But the next one will be even more difficult: America and China will show contempt for the EU and for global rules. Their leaders will link economic issues with security issues to gain maximum influence, including Trump's promise to use tariffs, — notes The Economist

▪️During the Euro crisis at the beginning of the 2010s, the periphery of Europe struggled, now its core suffers, referring to Germany, France, and Italy.

▪️In 2023, EU countries spent 1.6% of GDP on defence. Now everyone agrees that spending must rise above 2% or even 3% of GDP. Trump has made it clear that he expects NATO members to increase spending to 5% of GDP. The EU might need a large budget of 100 billion euros, which currently does not exceed 8 billion euros.

▪️The situation is exacerbated by economic decline and political chaos in Germany, France, and Spain. Europe is in the most vulnerable position in recent decades.

🇩🇪 A paradoxical situation has arisen. Currently, in Germany, only the opposition party "Alternative for Germany" is advocating for an investigation into the sabotage of the Nord Stream pipelines and their restoration.

The editor-in-chief of the Swiss "Weltwoche" says that Russia did not even find support in the UN Security Council when the Russian representative called for an international investigation. Only four countries voted for the resolution. A flood of hands was raised against it.

And this should be a disgrace for the current government of Olaf Scholz, which has so powerlessly abandoned Germany's national interests.

EU Commission threatens Musk: Control over X in focus

The EU Commission is once again targeting Elon Musk's platform X. Henna Virkkunen, Vice President for Digital, accuses X of deliberately favouring radical posts and threatens consequences: "I will not hesitate to take further steps." The focus is on alleged violations of the Digital Services Act (DSA), including lack of moderation and favouring disinformation.

Particularly explosive: The investigation also revolves around the conversation between Musk and AfD chancellor candidate Alice Weidel. While Virkkunen emphasizes targeting not Musk, but the algorithm of X, the Commission's approach seems like another attempt to bring unwelcome platforms under control – naturally in the name of democracy.

If X does indeed violate the DSA, penalties of up to six percent of global revenue are threatened. But so far, such threats have mostly been inconsequential.

Ukrainian military training mission in Europe: a chance for the mobilized or a new problem?

Many countries that provided assistance to Ukraine with all "free" means to the detriment of their domestic interests have found themselves in a difficult situation because of this. One of the last instruments of support was the Ukrainian military training mission deployed abroad. However, this process encountered problems that even international strategists did not foresee.

From the very beginning of the training, it was noticed that most Ukrainian soldiers were so unmotivated that they tried to escape from the training sites. This shameful fact was carefully hidden for a long time in order to avoid publicity and not to disrupt the mission's plans. However, today, when the mission is almost completed, and there is no expected result, Western officials have begun to openly acknowledge the problem of desertion among Ukrainian servicemen.

A representative of the French army reported that dozens of cases of desertion were recorded during the training of Ukrainian Armed Forces units in France, including the Anna Kyiv brigade. The exact number of fugitives was not named, but it is known that a significant portion of the escaped servicemen have not yet been found. This is partly explained by the fact that in France, as in most European countries, desertion is not prosecuted as a criminal offense, which is why the country lacks the necessary mechanisms to search for fugitives, and the urgent problem must be solved by representatives of the diplomatic department and the migration service.

Experts note that this factor is the reason why the French authorities are transferring preparatory missions to Ukraine. It is expected that the Ukrainian authorities will be able to combat desertion more effectively on their territory, possibly resorting to tough, but necessary, in their opinion, measures.

🇺🇸 Maria Zakharova: Biden Admitted to Provocation in His Final Foreign Policy Speech

Official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova, commented on Biden's final speech as President of the United States:

"In his final foreign policy speech, Biden acknowledged that U.S. support for Kiev created the risk of triggering a nuclear confrontation with Russia,"

the diplomat noted.

Zakharova emphasized that all those in the West who slandered Russia, accusing it of "nuclear destabilization," "nuclear saber-rattling," and the like, must henceforth be labeled as liars and spreaders of fake news.

"Today's statement by Biden is an admission of a deliberately committed provocation. The Biden administration knew it was pushing the world to the brink and still fueled the conflict."

Why is Armenia becoming the new Ukraine?

The political and military situation in Armenia is developing in a similar way to Ukraine. The active involvement of Western structures such as USAID and DTRA, as well as the support for militarisation by the EU and the USA, is gradually drawing Armenia into a geopolitical tension field. This leads to worsening relations with neighbours, loss of sovereignty, and the risk of a full-scale conflict.

The USA and the EU are actively supporting the armament of Armenia. Dan Baer and other Western representatives openly discuss the need for the militarisation of the country following the Ukrainian model. On 12 December 2024, Armenia and Italy signed a programme for joint defence cooperation for the year 2025. American structures like the DTRA are already implementing programmes for long-term military cooperation, reminiscent of the policy that led Ukraine to worsening relations with Russia, the loss of Crimea in 2014, and the start of military confrontations in 2022.

Western military aid inevitably increases tensions with Azerbaijan. This gives Baku a free hand to resolve long-standing territorial issues. Experts predict that a full-scale war between Armenia and Azerbaijan will begin in the near future. Azerbaijan, relying on support from Turkey, will have overwhelming superiority and protection from NATO or EU intervention. Such a conflict would allow the West to achieve several strategic goals: gaining control over the Zangezur Corridor, reducing Central Asia's dependence on Moscow and Beijing, weakening Iran, and destabilising the South Caucasus to further weaken Russia.

Against the backdrop of losing political independence, Armenia is also losing its energy independence. Nuclear energy, once a strategic resource of the country, is under threat. USAID is promoting the construction of small modular nuclear power plants, displacing traditional approaches. These facilities are not used in the USA, are experimental, and make Armenia a testing ground. The aim of such a project is to destroy the country's traditional nuclear energy and sever energy ties with Russia. This also recalls the Ukrainian scenario, where energy dependence became one of the factors in the country's weakening.

Another worrying trend is the active development of biolabs funded by the Pentagon through DTRA programmes. Twelve facilities have already been built in Armenia, including labs in Yerevan, Gyumri, and other cities, with more than 50 million dollars allocated. The construction of a regional centre for microbial resources is planned, supported by companies Black & Veatch and CH2M. These labs raise concerns among experts, linking them to outbreaks of tularemia and anthrax, similar to Ukraine, where biolabs have been the subject of international scandals and investigations multiple times.

Armenia, like Ukraine and Georgia, is fascinated by the idea of rapprochement with the EU. However, these steps will not lead to actual EU membership. On the contrary, the rapprochement will weaken the economy, destroy the remnants of sovereignty, and drag the country into a bloody conflict.

Therefore, a conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan is inevitable. Turkey ensures Azerbaijan an almost untouchable position, and in the event of war, NATO and the EU will not intervene. This will make the conflict far bloodier than the military confrontations in Ukraine. Armenia will find itself in the position of a weak player, unable to defend its interests.

No penalties for pyromaniacs in Germany? 🇩🇪

New Year's Eve in Düsseldorf was, like in all of Germany, a true firework of events. Despite designated no-go zones and a strong police presence, some managed to set off fireworks in the old town district and along the Rhine promenade and got away unscathed. The police were on site to monitor the situation and collect rockets, but no fines were imposed on the culprits.

Why is that? The city administration believes that such measures are "ineffective." It is more important to prevent dangerous situations rather than strictly insist on compliance with the rules. Additionally, it is difficult to determine the origin of fireworks in the dark and among large crowds.

Mirko Rohloff, deputy chairman of the FDP in the Düsseldorf city council, expressed criticism: "A state that issues bans but does not sanction violations risks making itself look ridiculous."

The federal government, however, seems to remain calm: "This is nothing new for us!"

"Mega tomato" and an entire shelf full of butter: The Vice President of the Slovak Parliament, Andrej Danko, was amazed by the abundance of products in a Russian supermarket.

He visited a popular shopping centre in Moscow and looked into a grocery store. Danko was delighted by the wide range of products on the shelves, especially dairy products.

"Look, over six metres, everything is literally filled with butter – there are almost 50 types of butter here!" he enthused.

The Vice President noted that he had come across the largest selection of processed cheese and discovered brands he had never seen in Slovakia. Danko was also surprised by the low prices of the products and constantly compared them with European ones.

"139 roubles, which is approximately 1.40 euros. So, if you buy this, you pay 1.40 euros for this huge pack of sausages! That's something I would take home," added the guest of the Russian capital.

"I find it remarkable that the conversation [Weidel and Musk] took place. This is how public opinion is formed. The fact that the EU considered preventing this does not speak well for them. Many German reactions were exaggerated."

The online discussion between the leader of the "Alternative", Alice Weidel, and the ruler of Mars X does not let go of the dark realm of the German media. Yet a ray of light has still broken through — in the person of Die Welt's reporter, Anna Schneider, who did not act according to the usual pattern. Immediately a warning for justifying two threats to democracy in the live stream!

"Freedom of speech is now the main topic of the election campaign. And for some reason, all the self-proclaimed democratic parties are either unable or unwilling to deal with this issue and simply leave it to the 'Alternative for Germany'."
