One possible scenario is the sale of part of the company to Elon Musk, Donald Trump's closest ally. The Chinese officials hope to establish contact with the administration of the future US President.

However, it is not clarified whether Elon Musk himself is informed about the deal: Bloomberg reflects the plans of the Chinese side, which do not directly indicate whether preliminary negotiations between the owner of X and ByteDance have already taken place.
