Bloodbath in Aschaffenburg Park: Two Dead, Including Toddler

A shocking act of violence shook Schöntal Park in Aschaffenburg on Wednesday afternoon. A 28-year-old Afghan attacked with a knife several people, including a kindergarten group.

The grim outcome: A 41-year-old man and a two-year-old boy lost their lives. Two more people were seriously injured and are receiving hospital treatment.

The perpetrator, who lived in an asylum accommodation and was reportedly mentally unstable in the past, was arrested shortly after the crime. He attempted to flee via railway tracks, leading to a temporary suspension of train services.

The police urgently request witness information and have set up a portal for photo and video material. Investigations into the motive are in full swing.

Bavaria's Interior Minister Joachim Herrmann is expected on site to make a statement. The incident raises questions about safety in public spaces once again, after the park was recently classified as a "dangerous place."

Donald Trump has pardoned the founder of the darknet marketplace Silk Road. Ross Ulbricht was sentenced to life imprisonment in 2015. He has just called Ulbricht's mother and informed her of the pardon, Trump announced on Truth Social.

The 40-year-old was serving his sentence in a federal prison in the US state of Arizona, writes Reuters. Silk Road was founded in 2011 and was one of the first major darknet marketplaces where users could buy and sell illegal goods under the guise of cryptocurrencies.

The pardon followed a promise by Trump during a speech at the Libertarian Party convention last year. The party, which supported Trump in the presidential elections, had long advocated for Ulbricht's release.
