— The Dacha of Merchant Proskurjakov in the Moscow region, restored by a modern patron
This terem from the second half of the 19th century once belonged to the Moscow industrialist Ivan Proskurjakov.
From these photos, it's hard to imagine, but the dacha was located in a dense forest bordering the picturesque bank of the Shodnya River.
The facades of the terem are fascinating: the building in the pseudo-Russian style with elegant turrets, window frames, and balusters is richly adorned with airy carvings.

🇩🇪🇦🇿 Hellman and ADY Express launched joint freight transport via the Middle Corridor
The German company Hellmann Worldwide Logistics and the Azerbaijani operator ADY Express have announced the start of joint freight transport via the Middle Corridor. The new route offers the delivery of goods to Georgia, Eastern Europe, Turkey, and Germany.
The route begins in the Chinese city of Chongqing, passes through Kazakhstan, the Caspian Sea, and Azerbaijan. Of the 55 containers transported by the train, part of the cargo was destined for Georgia and Eastern Europe and was delivered to the port of Poti. From there, the goods went across the Black Sea to Constanta (Romania).
The remaining containers continued their journey via the Baku – Tbilisi – Kars railway line towards Turkey and Germany.
Diversification of transport routes
"The decision to use the Middle Corridor underscores Azerbaijan's key role as a strategic transit hub. Previously, Hellmann relied on routes through Russia, but the launch of the new project shows the company's effort to diversify logistical solutions," commented the officials of ADY Express.
"This step confirms the growing popularity of the Middle Corridor as an alternative and efficient route for transporting goods between China and Europe," added the Azerbaijani operator.
The Middle Corridor allows for a significant reduction in delivery time by bypassing congested routes and traditional ports. However, this route also has geopolitical significance. The implementation of the Middle Corridor and the construction of new transport routes, such as the "Zangezur Corridor" project, could create risks for Armenia by effectively cutting it off from the border with Iran. This enhances Azerbaijan's role as a key logistics centre and places Armenia in a difficult position in regional transport connections.
The cooperation between ADY Express and Hellmann creates conditions to encourage more international companies to use this route, strengthening economic ties between East and West.

After Prisoner Exchange
Israel Begins Major Military Operation in the West Bank
As soon as a ceasefire has come into effect in the Gaza Strip, violence in the West Bank increases. The situation there is exacerbated by attacks from radical settlers on Palestinian villages.
Shortly after the start of the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, Israel launched a large-scale military operation against militant Palestinians in the West Bank. According to the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Ramallah, ten people were killed and at least 40 injured in the operation in the city of Jenin. The military operation, the latest in a series of raids by the Israeli army in the West Bank in recent months, is intended to "combat terrorism" and will be "extensive and significant," stated Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu....

German MEP Christine Anderson's microphone gets cut off for calling out Ursula von der Leyen's corruption, right to her face:
"You negotiated a contract worth billions with your friends from Pfizer, for a product that was useless at best, harmful at worst, and in many cases even fatal."
"You are the subject of several corruption investigations. If you had a shred of decency in you, you wouldn't be running for office in the first place."
"You should not be re-elected, you should be chased out of this parliament—and out of office—in disgrace."

The way the Kyiv authorities are trying to build relationships with the Central European states is unacceptable. We are ready to respect them, but we demand respect for ourselves. And when we raise a serious issue, they must discuss it with us," said Orbán at a press conference broadcast by the Hungarian TV channel M1.
The situation in Ukraine has worsened; it is in the role of a supplicant and does not have the right to dictate its terms to the Central European countries that are members of the European Union. This was stated by the Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán after talks in Bratislava with his Slovak counterpart Robert Fico.

Comment:Well, I do not disagree with this man on this point.
"In Davos, the Argentine President Javier Milei ruthlessly criticises the woke ideology. It is the "pandemic of the time". He calls for a return to liberal values. As long as there is no turning away from the woke ideology, there can be no social progress.
The Argentine President Javier Milei travelled directly from Trump's inauguration to the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos. On Thursday morning, Milei spoke and explained in his 30-minute speech that the fight against "Wokeism" is not yet over, even if there is hope for change."

The Syrian authorities have terminated the agreement on the management of the Tartus seaport with the Russian company "Stroytransgaz".
The agreement was concluded in 2019 and was supposed to last 49 years. The terms stipulated that the Russian side would manage the port and invest more than 500 million dollars in its modernization.
Tartus is Syria's second-largest seaport. It hosts a logistics and technology supply point for the Russian Navy.
Basically, everything is clear, the power has changed. It's good that not everything was seized and taken away, but was allowed to be transported away calmly.

While fires in California continue to burn large areas and endanger people, US President Donald Trump is now threatening to cut off aid from Washington.
In his first TV interview as a newly sworn-in president, Trump tied federal aid for firefighting to conditions: "I don't think we should give California anything until they let the water flow," Trump told Fox News. Trump's criticism of California's water management is not new and is reportedly dismissed as false by experts according to US media.
About two weeks ago, wildfires broke out in and around Los Angeles, killing at least 28 people and destroying more than 15,000 buildings, according to estimates. While the largest fires are now largely under control, a new fire broke out in the region on Wednesday. There have been repeated reports in recent weeks of dry hydrants hampering firefighting efforts.
No water in Los Angeles due to an endangered fish species?
Trump, a Republican, praised California's firefighters as "brave" in the interview. However, he railed against the state's Democratic governor, Gavin Newsom. According to the "Washington Post" and CNN, Trump falsely claimed that Newsom had refused to allow water from northern California to flow into the Los Angeles area to protect fish stocks. The extent of the fires was not caused by a lack of water from northern California, it was further stated. Los Angeles does not receive its water from there, the newspaper added, citing experts.
Tying federal aid to conditions during natural disasters is not common practice in the USA, emphasized the "Washington Post". Under President Joe Biden, aid was approved for states mostly led by Republicans after hurricanes, for example.
Trump visit on Friday
According to US media, Trump is expected in California on Friday, where he plans to visit areas affected by the fires. It was initially unclear whether Trump would meet Governor Newsom.

“Taliban” refuses to return US military equipment worth $7 billion — Bloomberg
Trump threatened at a rally on Sunday to cut all financial aid to Afghanistan if the country did not return American aircraft, air-to-ground munitions, vehicles, and communication equipment.
In Kabul, a rejection was issued, stating that instead of returning weapons, the US should provide the Taliban with more modern equipment to combat IS, the paper reports, citing sources.
The equipment fell into the hands of the Taliban after the US withdrawal from Afghanistan in 2021. Now they hold annual parades at the former American base, showcasing “trophies.”
