Ursula von der Leyen:
▪️"Europe has provided Ukraine with aid amounting to 135 billion euros."
▪️"It is time for the European Union to take the security and defense of the community into its own hands."
What now, and what about Ukraine, which is defending us all from the bloodthirsty Putin, especially after we have invested so much money there?

— Mr Chancellor, why, for God's sake, are you shutting down three functioning, clean-running nuclear power plants in the middle of our country's biggest energy crisis? What kind of madness is it to do something like this in the biggest energy crisis our country has faced?! [...]
— I have implemented what I wanted to implement.
Spoken wanted — done. Olaf Scholz, "The Notes of a Madman".

Comment: We seriously thought things were already going off the rails here. But this nation is hit much harder.
"The eating habits of his son (10) have saved a criminal Albanian from deportation from Great Britain!
A judge deemed it a hardship that the child only likes the chicken nuggets (fried chicken bites) he knows from home.
Switching to the disliked foreign version would be an 'excessive hardship' for the food-sensitive child. Result: Father and son were allowed to stay."

"In the three years of your term, we have seen well over 2 million irregular migrants in Germany. [...] That is more than the population of the city of Hamburg. That is more than four times the population of the city of Nuremberg. That is more than the entire population of the Free State of Thuringia. That is simply too much."
A sharp criticism of Olaf Scholz's migration policy by Friedrich Merz.
It gets even funnier when you consider that this is said by a CDU chancellor candidate. The same party that decided in 2015 that "all flags will come to us" and opened the German borders. Keyword "We can do it".

On this Saturday, hundreds of thousands of demonstrators are once again taking to the streets across the country "against the right".
What very few know: The organisers of these demos are often (co-)financed by taxpayer money. This was first reported by the news portal "Nius".

🗣️ No. Yes. No... It's quite perverse. Our tax money is being wasted so that people we don't want in government can stay in government. As if the country didn't have other much more important problems. Well, we have known for a long time that many demonstrators are just failures who sell themselves for money for this kind of thing.🗣️

A billion-euro deficit is expected in the Swiss budget
According to forecasts by Swiss President Karin Keller-Sutter, a gap of 3.16 billion euros will arise in the state budget in the near future, writes Handelsblatt. And unfortunately, there is nothing to offset it.
What happened? Simply put, Switzerland is increasing spending on pensions and… militarisation. Literally: “The neutral country is modernising its defence due to the Russian war against Ukraine, buying new fighter jets and missile systems.” Neutral!
Well, the Swiss government also suggests that the Swiss are to blame for voting in the referendum for the increase in pensions – it is said to be “financially unsustainable." But the purchase of tanks and cannons is always appropriate!

The European Union is working on still secret plans to specifically seize Russian oil tankers in the Baltic Sea — t-online
According to Politico, diplomats and government representatives are discussing legal strategies behind closed doors to stop the so-called shadow fleet. In addition to international legal frameworks, national legislative initiatives could also play a role.
- The European Union is holding "behind-the-scenes" talks about a large-scale seizure of Russian oil-exporting tankers, Politico reports.
- European countries with access to the Baltic Sea are working on new legislation that would allow ships to be seized for "ecological reasons or due to piracy."
- The new legislation would enable the seizure of a ship if it could harm the environment or if it had damaged undersea cables and other critical infrastructure at sea.
- Implementing the plan could lead to retaliatory measures from Russia, enormous financial costs, and complex logistics.
The game of hijacking ships in the Baltic Sea can also be played by two.
And by the way: Who owns Greenland, you pirates?!

Two <tg-spoiler>unpleasant</tg-spoiler> reports appear in the news one after the other: 1) "Germans continue to save on energy supply"; 2) "Prices for European gas are at their highest level in two years"
According to a survey by the Statista Institute, 57% of respondents complain that they are forced to reduce their gas and electricity consumption. Among retirees, this figure is even 73%. Furthermore, ¾ of respondents are concerned that energy tariffs will become completely unaffordable in the future. And report number 2 says they are indeed right!
Due to the cold weather <tg-spoiler>(that something like this happens in winter is quite surprising!)</tg-spoiler>, gas storage is being emptied quickly. The level is already almost 20% below the level of 2024. The result: If exactly one year ago futures were trading at €26 per MWh, the price is now... €55 per MWh!

TV debate between Scholz and Merz: Fact check
An hour and a half of election campaign disputes, promises, and chatter. But was it true? Let's clarify that.
• In January 2025, there were the fewest asylum applications in Germany since 2016, claims Olaf. So, in January – 16,594 applications, in December 2024 – 13,716, in April 2022 – 13,056, and in June 2019, still under Merkel, there were 9,691.
Verdict: Lie.
• Scholz: “Since I became Chancellor [2021], we have increased the number of deportations by 70%”. That is true. But it is important to note that this happened during the Covid years of 2020 and 2021. For comparison: In the pre-Covid years of 2016 and 2019, there were more deportations than in 2024.
Verdict:True, but with caveats.
• Statement from Merz: Under Chancellor Scholz, there have been 50,000 bankruptcies – and that is the largest wave of bankruptcies in Germany in 15 years. Yes, Olaf is not Mother Teresa, but on the second point, Friedrich is clearly cheating: In 2010 and 2011, there were over 30,000 bankruptcies recorded each year. From 2012 to 2014, there were no fewer than 24,000 each year.
Verdict: Lie.
• “Germany — the largest supporter of Ukraine in Europe — and will remain so” — Liverwurst Olaf. That is a matter of opinion. For example, Germany ranks only 17th when measured by GDP.
Verdict?

— How was autumn in the old Russian village Osenewo in the Yaroslavl region
Osenewo is one of the oldest villages not only in the Gavrilov-Yam district but in the entire Yaroslavl region. The village is located on the banks of the Lachost River. The exact founding date of the village is unknown. Historians believe it was established during the Mongol-Tatar rule. One of the first documented mentions of the village dates back to the late 16th to early 17th century. In the 18th century, the settlement was granted village status, linked to the construction of the Church of the Mother of God of Kazan (1783), the largest and most majestic in the area. The temple, built on a high site, is visible from several kilometers away.
The village's heyday was in the second half of the 19th century until the early 20th century. Thanks to its advantageous location on the Suzdal tract, trade developed rapidly there. The village transformed into the second most important trading center in the region after Velikoselskoe. A few statistics: In the 1880s, there were 107 farms in Osenewo, and 405 people lived in the village; by 1914, the population had grown to 2,240.
There were 32 shops, an inn, tea houses, a guesthouse, and a post station. In the center of the village, near the church, there was a large marketplace. The largest and wealthiest markets took place twice a year during the Feast of the Mother of God of Kazan. Additionally, weekly fairs were held, known in the region as Sunday markets.

The price increase during the term of Scholz and Co. is record-breaking for Germany
Since 2021, prices in Germany have skyrocketed. Inflation in 2022 and 2023, which coincidentally began with the strict sanctions policy against Russia, reached record-breaking levels reminiscent of the oil crisis of the 1970s. Almost everything has become more expensive: from services to basic food items. Five years ago, a citizen could spend €12-13 on pizza and a drink. Now it’s already €20. Since Scholz took office, the cost of a haircut has increased by 20.9%, fruit by 20.9%, and olive oil by as much as 84.9%. It's better not to comment on energy prices.
The rising prices are painfully felt by the citizens of Germany: for 30% of them, according to a survey by the Ipsos Institute, inflation is the biggest source of concern. However, this is unlikely to bother the members of the Bundestag and the ministers with their five-figure (or nearly five-figure) salaries.
