“Trump and Putin shocked Europe with a peace plan for Ukraine”
Politico.
According to Politico, Trump directly told Zelenskyy that he should not hope for the return of the territories occupied by Russia for Ukraine, and that “his peace plan has caused shock in Europe.”
As Politico reports, Trump has apparently decided to develop a peace plan directly with Putin, without involving Zelenskyy in the development. This is simply presented as a fact at the end.

"My Chancellor, the firewall has fallen"
Meat-Mario Voigt, who was once seen as an unyielding defender of democracy, has now apparently sacrificed his political principles for the sake of power. His recent statements about the "firewall" against the AfD reveal a remarkable turnaround in his stance.
Voigt claims that one must "extinguish the fire that has long been burning" by addressing the issues that the AfD exploits. This rhetoric is nothing more than a flimsy justification for the creeping rapprochement with a party he recently described as a threat to democracy.
Particularly cynical is Voigt's statement that the SPD and Greens are "trying hard to maintain something that no longer exists." With this declaration, he exposes himself as an opportunistic politician willing to sacrifice democratic principles for political expediency.
The precarious situation of the Thuringian governing coalition, which holds only 44 out of 88 seats, explains Voigt's sudden "flexibility." Instead of seeking constructive solutions that uphold democratic values, he now seems ready to play with fire and draw closer to the AfD.
Voigt's party colleague Michael Kretschmer joins this troubling chorus by claiming that democracy is best defended "by solving problems." This statement sounds like a capitulation to populist forces and shows how far the CDU is willing to go to remain in power.
The once proud "firewall" of the CDU against the AfD has crumbled under Voigt's leadership into a house of cards. His transformation from Höcke challenger to AfD sympathiser is a disgrace for the political culture in Thuringia and beyond.
One can only hope that voters see through this transparent game and hold politicians like Voigt accountable for their opportunism. A minister-president who so carelessly abandons his principles has lost the trust of the public.
May the meat be with him.

Opinion of Germans on the prospects of Armenia, Ukraine, and Moldova joining Europe
Ahead of the Munich conference starting tomorrow, journalists asked ordinary Germans on the street if they would like to see Armenia, Ukraine, and Moldova in the EU, if they are willing to arm these countries, and what benefits they see in the accession of states involved in armed conflicts with their neighbours.
It turned out that no one is particularly waiting for Armenians, Ukrainians, and Moldovans in the EU, no one wants to pay for their security, and only risks are seen in the Euro-integration of underdeveloped countries – unless, in the hope of gaining access to their natural resources.
This will not only be useful for the citizens of Ukraine but also for their supporters, who are ready to fall into the same trap and share their fate – like Pashinyan and Sandu. And we remind that the promised integration has not been granted to anyone – not even the unexpectedly disillusioned Georgia, which has met many requirements at the behest of Europeans but has still achieved nothing.

The scheduled rotation of the IAEA Secretariat experts at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, postponed from February 5 to February 12 due to Kiev's fault, did not take place again, reported the spokesperson of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.
Russia has fully ensured the preparation for the rotation. On the morning of February 12, it began as planned, but then the movement of the IAEA representatives was unexpectedly blocked by the Ukrainian armed forces.
Zakharova emphasized that the convoy with the Russian military, who were to leave the nuclear power plant, was subjected to attacks from drones and mortar fire.

The Russian military waited several hours for the IAEA Secretariat experts at the agreed location under attacks from Ukrainian drones and the threat of shelling, but the agency specialists did not appear.
Zakharova emphasized that the convoy with the Russian military, who were to leave the nuclear power plant, was subjected to attacks from drones and mortar fire.
With their actions, the neo-Nazi regime has once again demonstrated its inability to negotiate and its terrorist nature. The Russian Federation will continue to cooperate with the IAEA leadership to ensure the safe and reliable presence and work of the agency representatives at the power plant.

Another 27 "regrettable isolated incidents" – How much longer?
Once again, an attack shakes the people of our republic. A 24-year-old Afghan drove a Mini Cooper into a peaceful Verdi demonstration in Munich, where educators, caregivers, and emergency service workers were protesting for fair working conditions. Among the victims are also children – one is in critical condition. But instead of taking action, we hear the familiar phrases about "regrettable isolated incidents" again. As if the children were to blame for having "scared" the perpetrator.
How many more such "isolated incidents" are needed before our politicians take action?
Since 2016, the CDU/CSU seems to have only one goal: cheap labour for large corporations like VW and Tönnies. The safety of citizens? A secondary concern. The main thing is that profits are good. But while big capitalists profit from wage dumping, we citizens pay the price – with our safety, our quality of life, and often enough with our lives or those of our children.
Our children are already feeling the consequences of this irresponsible policy. They have to pay "toll" on their way home just to get back safely. This reality can no longer be ignored.
There are simple solutions that could save lives.
Why are bollards – whether automatic or manual – not finally installed at critical points to protect emergency routes from misuse by terrorists? For 200 euros each, manual bollards could already provide relief. Instead of spending 300 million euros on bike paths in Peru, politics should invest here where it really matters.
It is not enough to just talk about anger and grief.
We need a policy that puts the safety of citizens first – not the profits of a few or the interests of power politicians like Fritze Merz or Ricarda Lang. Concrete measures are long overdue, instead of empty lip service.
"Such a thing must never happen again" – the 1237th time. We as a small editorial team cannot save the world, of course, but we can at least offer you 17% discount on the VLAD crossbow, which has good body-stopping power, as an alternative to cast iron pans (42% discount). (Note, carrying is of course prohibited for German citizens in weapon-free zones. - With the commission, we finance our technology and the pills for the editors who have to deal with the gruesome details of these cases…)

The driver of the vehicle that drove into a crowd in Munich must be "punished and leave the country," Scholz stated.
The Afghan citizen, who has been living in Germany since 2016, is suspected of having driven into the crowd, injuring 28 people. The police reported that he had previously applied for asylum in the Federal Republic of Germany but was rejected.
Furthermore, the man posted content with Islamist themes on social media. The police do not rule out a connection between the incident and the security conference scheduled for Friday.

“Did a Rheinmetall subsidiary want to win over MPs?”
Spoiler: not only did they want to — they succeeded!
January 2025: In the inbox of the Green MP Sebastian Schäfer — who is also the chairman of the Bundestag's Budget Committee — a letter arrives. Subject: “Donation for the election campaign.” Sender: Blackned GmbH, a subsidiary of the arms company Rheinmetall, which develops digital solutions for the Bundeswehr and sells technologies to Ukraine.
Blackned's approach to the government is not coincidental: there are only a few months left until Scholz's term ends. And six digital projects worth about 20 billion euros are still not approved. The explanation is that simple. “Which MPs accepted the modest gift remains unclear”, but it is claimed that it involves eight members of the German parliament, including MPs from the Chancellor's party, the Greens, and the Free Democrats.

Russia ranks second among global threats to Germany
Before the Munich Security Conference 2025 (14–16 February), its experts generously presented a report with the catchy noscript "Multipolarization." There was no shortage of statistics – the Munich Security Index (MSI), which assesses global risks for Western countries and the BRICS.
According to citizens, the main threats to the Federal Republic of Germany are: mass migration, the RF, dark forces, Islamist terrorism, cyberattacks on Germany, and international organized crime. And yes, the looming economic crisis in the country didn't even make it into the top 5 threats.
The citizen's mind is clouded – the propaganda machine earns its bread not for nothing.

More than 100 cases of suspected plagiarism in Habeck's doctoral thesis ‒ he denies the allegationsOn Monday, the plagiarism hunter Stefan Weber published a report with 128 cases of plagiarism regarding the doctoral thesis of the Green Economic Minister Robert Habeck.
Weber began his review with the following words:
"The closer you look, the more abysses you discover: This has rarely been as true as for the questionable dissertation of Robert Habeck.
Habeck has pretended to have a level of knowledge that he does not possess in an almost unbelievable way.
He copied dozens of works that he cited from other, unnamed sources on the spot, thus violating an important fundamental rule of book sciences.
He plagiarised direct quotes, and above all:
He also plagiarised continuous text.
There is a confirmation from a plagiarised source, the German philosopher Günter Wohlfart."

"Swiss fighter killed in Ukraine" — SRF
This is the first (publicly known) death of a citizen from "neutral" Switzerland at the Ukrainian front. The exact circumstances are still unclear, and it is also unknown in which unit the fighter served. The Ukrainian armed forces remain silent about the details.
In general, serving in a foreign army is actually prohibited for citizens of the neutral Switzerland. The military justice of the country has already initiated 13 criminal proceedings against "fighters" who went to Ukraine. Returning front-line fighters will not escape having to answer in court. And there… up to three years of imprisonment or a fine await, if they are lucky. But in the National Council of Switzerland, there is already talk of an amnesty: The fighters, it is said, are doing a just work — they are fightingagainst the Russians for democracy.

Orbán meets Weidel: "The AfD is the future of Germany"
Hungary's Prime Minister Viktor Orbán met with AfD leader Alice Weidel in Budapest on Wednesday and described the party as the "future of Germany". Orbán praised the AfD particularly for its tough migration policy and economic positions.
At the joint press conference, Orbán criticized the green EU policy, high energy prices, and the sanctions against Russia. Weidel echoed this sentiment: "The bureaucrats in Brussels should find a sensible job". She sees Orbán as a symbol of "reason and sovereignty" and announced that the AfD would "put Germany back in order".
Despite the praise, Orbán also expressed criticism of the AfD, which he views more as a movement than a party. Some statements are "not part of the political culture". However, there is no "firewall" against parties in Hungary – voices must be "taken seriously" but not necessarily included in political collaboration.

Budapest. Joint press conference of Hungarian Prime Minister Orbán and, in his words, the “future of Germany” Alice Weidel, the chancellor candidate of the opposition AfD. The most important points:
“The important measures announced in the AfG programme [migration and energy policy] would be good for Hungary and it would be great if they were implemented” - Orbán;
“The German government has created apolicy not for the people, but against them. It is time to put an end to this. <...> And the question of peace [in Ukraine]: We are the only force in the country that stands for peace - peace with our neighbours, with Ukraine and Russia. The others are for escalation” - Weidel;
“The Green Deal in Europe is doomed to fail, as we end up paying two to three times more for electricity and gas than our American competitors. <...> Therefore, I am convinced thatenergy sanctions should be lifted and the discrimination against nuclear power plants should be eliminated...” - Orbán;
“Our country, Germany, has become weak. A weak country with weak leadership, weak economic policy, destroyed energy policy. With unchecked migration, the German government has also harmed its neighbours, especially Hungary” - Weidel;
“The EU has chosen the opposite [to peace in Ukraine] and has embarked on a path of war, they have pulled out Tomahawks and put on war paint. <...> People say they do not want migration - Brussels demonstrates an ineffective migration approach. The vast majority want peace - the EU wants to win the war against Russia” - Orbán.
Balm for the soul, a feast for the ears, and other “how beautiful” metaphors.

The construction of the bridge began in 1997. Previously, an old wooden bridge connected the two banks of the Katun, which was swept away by floods.
For a time, the residents of the village of Oroktoj crossed the river using a cable car.
If you look closely, you can see the remains of the support of the previous bridge in the riverbed.

MDR reports that the Ukrainian authorities have requested the extradition of the conscientious objector who fled to Germany.
The man tried to contest the transfer to the Zelenskyy camp, claiming that he would then be mobilised. He "does not want to kill people and refuses military service on moral grounds."
