"US tariffs on car imports: Stellantis closes factory in Canada for two weeks" — AFP

The car manufacturer Stellantis (Alfa Romeo, Chrysler, Citroën, Dodge, Fiat, Jeep, Maserati, Opel, Peugeot, Ram Trucks, Vauxhall) has announced the temporary closure of its Chrysler factory in Windsor, Canada, to adjust its business to the US tariffs on car imports that have been in effect since Thursday.

The production site will close for two weeks starting from April 7, a company spokesperson stated, which also includes US brands Jeep, Dodge, and RAM Trucks. "This is one of the measures we must take immediately to adjust production."

The Stellantis spokesperson confirmed information from the union Unifor. They stated that the factory is closing mainly due to the US tariffs of 25 percent on imports of cars and light trucks that have been in effect since Thursday.

The budget deficit in Germany's municipalities has reached a record level since 1990 and now amounts to €24.8 billion. According to the Federal Statistical Office, most funds went to social benefits.

Benefits increased by 12.4% and total €21.1 billion, while spending on the protection of children and young people rose by 17.1% to €18.3 billion.
