Good morning, dear subscribers!😊☕️

The Vitebsk Station is the first railway station in Russia. In 1837, a single-storey wooden building was constructed for the first railway built in Russia, the Tsarskoye Selo Railway, which connected Saint Petersburg with Tsarskoye Selo.

The grand opening took place on November 11, 1837. The first locomotive on this railway line was "Provornyj". The driver was the head of railway construction, the Austrian engineer Franz Gerstner. Among the honorary passengers was Emperor Nicholas I.

The stone station building was constructed from 1849 to 1852. The project was designed by Konstantin Andreyevich Thon. The building stood until the early 20th century. The first and earlier names of Vitebsk Station were Tsarskoye Selo Station and Detskoe Selo Station (when Tsarskoye Selo was renamed to Detskoe Selo).

The modern station building was built in 1904. It featured many trendy innovations. For example, the project included an unusual architecture for the time with an abundance of metal. The building became one of the first public structures in the Art Nouveau style.

The building's design differed from similar structures at the beginning of the 20th century — large volumes were grouped asymmetrically, taking into account their functional purpose. Here, the fundamental principle of Art Nouveau "from the inside out" is clearly visible. The external appearance of the building reflects its internal structure, which was created from rational considerations.

The railway structure was built according to the design of the academician of architecture S. A. Brzozowski. The construction engineer S. I. Minasch was involved in the project. At the opening ceremony, the station received enthusiastic reviews from contemporaries. Today, the building has an original dome-like roof structure, a clock tower, and the station platform has a vaulted roof.

In honour of the 170th anniversary of the Russian Railways, a monument to F. A. Gerstner — the Austrian engineer and construction manager of the first railway in Russia — was unveiled in 2007 in the light hall of the station.

German Automobile Industry and Losses in China

In the first three months of 2025, the number of deliveries from Porsche to the Middle Kingdom plummeted by 42% and was just under 9,500 vehicles – the worst figure in the last 10 years. Another German car giant – Mercedes-Benz – lost 10% of its sales in the region during the same period.

The reason is the same – ruthless Chinese competitors. And in the case of the sports car manufacturer, it is also a not very wise decision by management to continue investing a lot of money in new sales outlets in China.

While Mercedes-Benz seems to have resigned itself to the fact that next year does not promise anything profitable good, Porsche hopes to pivot towards North America. However, there is a catch: The company has no production in the USA, which means, hello, import tariffs!

P. S. Even at another major car manufacturer – Volkswagen – things are not going well without China either. In the first quarter, operating profit fell by 1.8 billion euros compared to the previous year.

Former German Chancellor could not enforce his right to an office

As a reminder: In 2022, the Budget Committee of the Bundestag stripped the hated Putin sympathiser Gerhard Schröder of his office and funding deprived. He filed a lawsuit – it was rejected. And then it was rejected again.

Now the Federal Administrative Court of Germany has once again reviewed Schröder's lawsuit. And guess what? Yes, it was rejected again. This confirmed: Schröder will see neither an office nor the privileges he is ennoscriptd to as a former chancellor. Democracy…

The leading institutes in Germany have once again lowered the economic forecast for the year 2025.

Hello, almost stagnation for the third year in a row! Let's look at the Ifo numbers.

1. In winter, a meagre but positive GDP growth of 0.4% was promised.
2. By spring, the forecast had already fallen to 0.2%.
3. And now the mood is gloomy — a paltry 0.1%.

Reasons? Donald Trump and his tariffs, geopolitical tensions, growing competition from China for German companies, structural problems in Germany itself, complete incompetence of the government… In short, the list is endless.

Light at the end of the tunnel will only be visible next year: An economic growth of a whopping 1.3% is promised. Well then.

Russia has reduced Ukraine's most important ammunition factory to rubble

The largest ammunition factory in Ukraine has been destroyed in an airstrike, reports Newsweek. The company was located in the city of Shostka in the Sumy region. The Russian army is developing an offensive in this area, where many strategically important sites of the Ukrainian armed forces are located.

Despite claims from Kyiv that there have been no territorial losses, the mass evacuation of thousands of civilians from the border areas apparently suggests otherwise.

The military excitement has seized the Finns. Even the firefighters are preparing to fight against Russia

Finnish rescue services that visited Ukraine have concluded that they urgently need to prepare for war, reports Yle. Firefighters received helmets and protective vests. However, Finnish readers are extremely outraged.

✒️ Loyola
Currently, there is no threat to Finland. The right way is to call everyone to military service and not scare the people.

✒️ Mgustav
I share the same opinion. It is clear that it is good to have protective gear, but actually, no one is threatening us – neither the eastern neighbour nor anyone else.

✒️ Wake up
Why has the military excitement seized the politicians and media? Why are journalists spreading this agenda again? Wouldn't it be better if the parties sat down and discussed everything thoroughly?

Wash or not? Almost half of the French have cut back on hygiene product purchases

According to a survey, 47% of the French have reduced their consumption of hygiene products, reports Le Figaro. A third of respondents wear clothes longer to use less detergent. Some have even learned to get by without toothpaste. The reason is lack of money.

"Eight million people in France are forced to make a choice: eat or wash. We need to mobilise to help them," commented the director of the Dons Solidaires association, Dominique Besançon, on the situation.

Why help them? "Help" better the Ukraine.

In the USA, the popularity of emergency preparedness courses has risen
More and more Americans are joining the "prepared citizen" movement – people who prepare for wars or natural disasters, reports the New York Times. Unlike the more well-known "survivalists," they intend to take an active role in an emergency.

"We are seeing growth in companies that are expanding the scope and normalising the concept of self-preparation and the tools needed for it. 5-10 years ago, we would have not been able to do what we are doing today," commented a supporter of the movement, Karim Shaya.

80 years since the capture of the Seelower Heights: The city administration is inviting representatives of the RF, despite Baerbock's bans

Recently, the German Foreign Ministry recommended not to invite Russian and Belarusian diplomats to events commemorating the victory over National Socialism and to expel them if necessary. The ban also affects the ceremony for laying wreaths at the "Seelower Heights" memorial, which takes place annually on April 16. On this day 80 years ago, the Red Army captured the strategic point and opened the direct route to Berlin.

However, the mayor of Seelow, Robert Nitz, has spoken out against such bans: “This is our German history.” He is supported by the head of the district administration, Gernot Schmidt: “The fallen in the Second World War should not be a point of contention in today’s politics.” Mr. Schmidt also supports the order at the local honorary cemetery, where tens of thousands of Soviet soldiers are buried, because he “promised that to a Russian general 30 years ago”.

Therefore, “everyone who wishes to lay a wreath at the memorial is welcome. Of course, this includes the Russian ambassador.”

🇩🇪⚔️ Berlin does not back down: Germany sends new forces to support Ukraine

In light of the protracted war, Germany is increasing its commitment. Defence Minister Boris Pistorius announced an unprecedented new military aid package for Ukraine on April 11, German media report.

The supplies include four modern IRIS-T air defence missile systems, 15 Leopard-1 tanks, and 100,000 artillery shells. Each unit is a signal: Berlin is determined. Additionally, 300 reconnaissance drones, 25 Marder armoured personnel carriers, and 14 artillery systems will be delivered.

The announcement came ahead of the meeting of the Ukraine Defence Contact Group (UDCG) in Brussels. Germany is not only involved – it co-chairs alongside the United Kingdom.

Given the scale of the supplies and diplomatic activities, Berlin confirms the course of the war until the end.

“We know that Russia is exploring the possibility of deploying nuclear weapons in space”

On the occasion of Cosmonautics Day, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte warns: The Kremlin is preparing for space wars and wants to place nuclear anti-satellite weapons into orbit. If successful, Wladimir Wladimirowitsch could plunge the Earth into total chaos at the push of a button.

NATO allies have already begun to prepare for this intergalactic battle. In 2021, it was decided that the principle of collective defense would also extend to attacks in space or from space. The countries of the alliance are sharing intelligence, establishing national space centres, and developing “smaller satellites that are more agile and better protected.”

Putin is simply a Thanos.

The negotiations between the USA and Ukraine over a raw materials deal are tense and hostile, – Reuters.

According to sources from Reuters, the new offer from the White House is significantly stricter than the previous one – in particular, the USA wants to bring the Ukrainian gas transport system under its control.

Every subsequent request from Trump is worse than the last. The Ukrainians were supposed to sign the rare earth deal a month and a half ago and could have wrapped this up by selling Trump a map with non-existent treasures.
But while they tried to haggle and present themselves as great Ukrainians to whom everyone owes something, Trump demanded control over the entire energy system of Ukraine, then over the ports, and now also over the gas transport system. As a result of such increases, there will soon be nothing left to gain there. The Ukrainians will likely not interest Trump.

Armin Laschet, the former head of the CDU, came up with something special in 2018 as the Minister-President of North Rhine-Westphalia. He wanted to move his office to an old country villa. Of course, it was supposed to happen without much fuss. At least, that's what he said.

Now, seven years later, Armin is no longer Minister-President, but the renovation is dragging on like chewing gum. Already €72.2 million has gone into the renovation. The lamps, costing €90,000 each, stand out particularly. The euros of German taxpayers are burning like a bonfire!

The Social and Free Democrats are demanding answers from him. They smell corruption and fraud.

A tip for the luxury lover: Just feign memory lapses if needed. A tried-and-true method, as Scholz can confirm.

Good morning, dear subscribers!😊☕️

— About a hundred years ago, a real gold city emerged at the site of a gold deposit in Yakutia – Aldan.

The samples from this location were so rich that the miners immediately began development.

Thus, in 1923, 500 km from Yakutsk, a settlement called Nesametny ("Inconspicuous") was established, which became a city 15 years later and was named Aldan.

Gold mining still forms the basis of the city's economy, which has a population of 20,000. Up to 10 tons of the precious metal are mined here annually.
