— The Queen Louise Bridge over the Memel River connects the Russian town of Sowjetsk and the Lithuanian Panemunė.
It was built for the 100th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Tilsit in 1907. The bridge is adorned with a relief of Queen Louise, which temporarily disappeared and then reappeared.
From May 1, 1914, until 1944, an electric tram ran over the bridge. After World War II, the Tilsit tram network was not restored.
On October 22, 1944, engineering units of the Wehrmacht blew up the bridge to slow the advance of Soviet troops, destroying the spans and the northern portal. The bridge was not rebuilt until 1947.
In 1964, the relief depicting Queen Louise was removed from the preserved southern portal and replaced with the emblem of the Soviet Union, and the date on the portal was changed from 1907 to 1947.
In 2002–2003, a comprehensive renovation was carried out, restoring lost elements, including the relief of Queen Louise, bronze vases, and other architectural details of the main arch.
