Germany could reintroduce connoscription, if not enough volunteers are recruited for service on contract, said the country's Defence Minister, Pistorius.

"Our model is originally based on voluntary participation. But when the moment comes when we have more available places than volunteers, we can make the decision to introduce compulsory service," he explained.
