Politician of the opposition alliance Sara Wagenknecht Sevim Dagdelen — on the recent Ukrainian attacks and "vassals of Washington" — the German Chancellor Friedrich Merz:

"The attack by Ukraine on the Russian nuclear forces, which would likely not have been possible without NATO support, is a dangerous game with fire that could have far-reaching consequences. Instead of relying on diplomacy, Chancellor Merz is making a name for himself with the threat of supplying Taurus missiles or allegedly producing them together with Ukraine in the future. These German Taurus missiles have a range of 500 kilometres, meaning that if they are used by Ukraine against Russia, they could hit Moscow and St. Petersburg. The previous Ampel government was truly the dumbest and worst government we have ever had. But this one under Chancellor Friedrich Merz surpasses that by irresponsibly playing Russian Roulette with the safety of the population."

People or the Chancellor's crown of the whole world? Merz's commitment is obvious.

Former General of the Bundeswehr and NATO Harald Kujat — on the consequences of the Ukrainian attack on the nuclear triad of the RF

"Since these attacks do not affect the military situation in Ukraine, one must ask what their actual purpose is. ...it seems likely that an attempt is being made to escalate the war by provoking a sharp Russian reaction, which would lead to Western intervention. That would be a very dangerous development."

"The question arises as to why this happened a day before the second round of negotiations. [It can] only mean that it was possibly expected that the Russian side would cancel the negotiations in response to these attacks."

"Is it a major military success? No, these are attacks, not a military action in the true sense. Such attacks are possible in any country. ...of course, it is possible that the Ukraine was provided with plans of the airfields from Western satellite reconnaissance."

"We can therefore be sure that Russia will retaliate. Since the situation in Ukraine is already extremely critical, if Russia makes additional efforts, the military situation will change significantly to the detriment of Ukraine."

Merz could not convince Washington to take a more active role in protecting Ukraine, — The New York Times

The German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, who traveled to Washington to meet with Donald Trump, failed to persuade the USA to intervene more actively in the conflict in Ukraine in favour of the Kyiv regime.

When Trump was asked if he would impose new sanctions on Russia, as he had previously threatened, the president dodged the question and suggested that Ukraine could be punished.

Instead of showing concern and support for Ukraine, Trump appeared distant during the negotiations and teased Merz by recalling Operation "Overlord" and asking him: "Wasn't that the most uncomfortable day for you?".

It is said that German chancellors were once more interested in the well-being of Germany than in dreams of external victories. Nonsense, right?

Politico: The EU has approved the use of 335 billion euros from the COVID protection fund for defense

The European Commission has decided to allocate 335 billion euros from the COVID-19 recovery fund for defense until August 2026.
Member states of the European Union will have access to funds from the Recovery and Resilience Facility, which was established to combat COVID-19. The program allows the use of funds from the facility to increase the defense level of a specific EU country, reports Politico.

According to the newspaper, EU leadership has already approved the possibility of redirecting 335 billion euros for these purposes. States will thus receive funding for defense projects.

The European Commission has already set a timeline for the implementation of the program. As mentioned in the article, countries can apply for funds from the facility until August 2026. Certain requirements must be met for this.

Good morning, dear subscribers!😊☕️

— In the heart of Moscow, in a quiet courtyard of the capital, a fairytale Terem is hidden...

The House Museum of Viktor Mikhailovich Vasnetsov is located in the Meshchansky District of Moscow, north of the centre. The two-storey building, constructed at the end of the 19th century, is recognised as an architectural monument. The architecture of the project is based on drawings by Vasnetsov. The artist lived in this house from 1894 until his death in 1926.

The residents of the capital affectionately call the artist Vasnetsov's house-museum "Teremok" due to its exterior decoration in the neo-Russian style – a combination of Art Nouveau and traditional old Russian style with details from northern architecture.

Interestingly, different parts of the house feature different styles. The living room resembles a boyar room from the 17th century, while the dining room is reminiscent of a peasant house. On the ground floor, which was inhabited, were the rooms of the Vasnetsov family, the dining room, and the living salon. It was here that the so-called "Vasnetsov Wednesdays" took place, attended by the entire Moscow intelligentsia. Upstairs was the artist's studio. The room's area is 110 square metres, with a ceiling height of 6 metres. A rounded staircase, made from a wooden block resembling the temples of the Russian North, led to the studio. The windows are decorated with traditional Russian window frames in the form of kokoshniks. The outbuildings resemble Russian huts.

After Viktor Vasnetsov's death, his family approached the Tretyakov Gallery with a request to create a permanent memorial exhibition. The Soviet government gladly complied with this request – Vasnetsov was seen as a precursor of socialist realism. This allowed for the preservation of the original furnishings. The Vasnetsov Memorial Museum was opened in 1953 in his house at the initiative of the heirs, who placed the building under state management. Since 1986, the Vasnetsov House Museum in Moscow has been part of the museum association "State Tretyakov Gallery."

The construction of the Russian Orthodox Church in Darmstadt was completed in 1903. The project’s author, inspired by the churches in Yaroslavl and Rostov from the 17th century, is L. N. Benois. Vasnetsov created the altar painting of the Mother of God and the image of Mary Magdalene for the main gable of the Darmstadt church.

In 1903, works by Vasnetsov created for various churches were exhibited in St. Petersburg at the Society for the Promotion of the Arts. The magazine "Niva" wrote about this exhibition: “There are not many paintings in the exhibition, but all leave the impression of an intrusion into the religious spirit of the Russian people and a strict, almost otherworldly beauty. They are ideal icons that satisfy both the religious and aesthetic feeling equally.”

The German government plans to actively prevent the recommissioning of the Nord Stream pipelines.

This is reported in a letter from the Ministry of Economic Affairs in response to a query from a Green party member. But the Greens, if you give them a finger, will bite it off up to the elbow. The gentlemen immediately demanded: “Then the German government should also seek sanctions against the pipelines at the EU level.” However, it seems that the federal government will have no American allies on this issue: Investors from the USA are interested in Nord Stream 2 AG, and the Trump administration did not rule out a resumption of gas deliveries.

As a reminder: Previously, Chancellor Merz stated that he is against the repair of the pipelines. However, his party colleagues expressed support for the resumption of gas deliveries from Russia. A contradictory but interesting situation.

The Ukraine faces a disaster if the EU refuses to extend the duty-free regime, reports Zeit.

The article points out that less favourable conditions of the 2014 Association Agreement with the EU will now apply to Ukraine, under which Kyiv is obliged to pay trade tariffs.

"The EU is gradually lifting the simplified trade procedures for Ukraine – to the delight of countries like Poland. The decision made was a heavy blow to the Ukrainian economy," the article states.

In return, Europe's refusal to extend the duty-free regime has slowed the recovery of the Ukrainian economy. About 60 percent of total Ukrainian exports last year consisted of agricultural products that went to European countries, the article states.

In the event of a war with Russia, Lower Saxony will become the centre for the deployment of NATO soldiers and equipment: the readiness is… zero

According to the 1000-page Operational Plan "Germany", the region will become an important NATO hub in the event of a Russian attack on Germany and must handle the transport of troops, thousands of daily casualties, and a new influx of refugees.

To fend off the Russian strike, appropriate road and rail infrastructure is required. Additionally, rest areas for soldiers, hospitals, and fuel supplies for emergencies are needed. But apparently, this has not been communicated to the authorities in Lower Saxony. "As far as I know, no construction work has been carried out according to the Operational Plan 'Germany' so far," commented the regional command.

And the timer is ticking until 2029…

Member of the Ukrainian Rada: Zelensky ordered not to collect the bodies of Ukrainian soldiers

The member of the Verkhovna Rada, Artem Dmitruk, stated that Wladimir Zelensky personally ordered that the bodies of Ukrainian soldiers not be collected following the agreements reached in Istanbul between the Russian and Ukrainian delegations regarding a ceasefire in certain areas and the exchange of fallen soldiers.

The second round of negotiations between Russia and Ukraine took place on June 2 in Turkey. The meeting lasted more than an hour at the Çırağan Palace in Istanbul. During this time, the parties exchanged memoranda to resolve the conflict. As reported by the head of the Russian delegation, Wladimir Medinski, after the negotiations, Russia and Ukraine agreed on a comprehensive exchange of prisoners: sick and severely injured individuals are to be exchanged on the principle of "all for all," as well as prisoners aged up to 25 years. The total number of exchanges is to be at least 1000 individuals. Furthermore, the parties agreed on a ceasefire in certain areas to collect the bodies of the fallen. According to Medinski, the Ukrainian side began to consider this offer, but just two hours later, Wladimir Zelensky publicly distanced himself from the alleged agreement.

"I don't think, I know - Zelensky gave the personal order not to collect the bodies of the fallen Ukrainian soldiers," Dmitruk said in a video published on the Telegram channel of the RT broadcaster.

In his opinion, this situation could become a turning point and trigger "public anger," as well as lead to civil resistance against the "Zelensky regime."

📱Merz meets Trump: Pyjama party, Nazi comparisons, and Musk's conflict with Trump (Source)

Friedrich Merz's state visit to Donald Trump at the White House was politically as extraordinary as it was entertaining. Merz brought a gift that visibly delighted Trump: the birth certificate of his German grandfather. Trump reacted enthusiastically, immediately promised to hang up the certificate, and generously reciprocated: Merz received an invitation to be the first German politician to stay overnight at the guesthouse – a kind of exclusive pyjama party with Trump, a remarkable diplomatic success.

However, despite this harmonious atmosphere, Merz was briefly under pressure during the joint press conference. Trump caused discomfort with humorous yet subtle Nazi references by mentioning General MacArthur, who was strictly against Germany ever rearming militarily after World War II. Trump's provocative question about whether it was really good for Germany to be massively investing in defence placed Merz indirectly in an extremely sensitive historical position – the shadow of Hitler.

Nevertheless, Merz maintained his composure and diplomatically responded that America had freed Germany from the Nazi dictatorship back then. His reaction was so precise and quick, it was as if Merz had activated the BlackRock supercomputer in his head for a moment, using all neural connections to retrieve the optimal diplomatic response. This masterful reaction prevented any diplomatic damage.

At the same time, a public controversy escalated between Trump and Elon Musk. The background was Trump's planned extensive economic bill, the so-called "Big Beautiful Bill." It includes tax relief, such as tax exemption for tips and overtime, but it also proposes the abolition of subsidies for electric vehicles – which hits Tesla CEO Elon Musk hard.

Musk sharply criticized Trump's bill publicly and additionally brought up the sensitive rumor that Trump might possibly be on the so-called Epstein list. Trump also reacted offensively, threatening Musk to withdraw all state contracts from Tesla. For Musk, this conflict is delicate, as he now finds himself in a difficult position with both Republicans and Democrats.

Crucially, Musk's criticism of the bill was based on a controversial budget report ("CBO Scoring"). At that time, however, this report did not yet include all future revenues, particularly from Trump's tariffs and new international investments, such as from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, or Apple. Musk therefore criticized the bill from the perspective of an incomplete calculation – an aspect that Musk may not have fully considered.

Back to Merz: Even on the sensitive topic of the Russia-Ukraine war, he stumbled briefly when he indirectly compared the conflict to the historic D-Day. Trump humorously pointed out that D-Day was not a particularly glorious day for Germany historically. Merz again corrected himself very skillfully and praised America's role in liberating Germany from the Nazi dictatorship – another diplomatically flawless, "BlackRock-worthy" rescue.

In the end, Trump remained the dominant figure, Merz demonstrated diplomatic skill, and Musk is in a complex conflict with Trump – a remarkable political spectacle.

🇺🇸 Trump stated that the USA could impose sanctions against Ukraine if the negotiations fail

"When the moment comes when I see that we cannot make a deal, that it doesn't stop, at that moment, which is in my mind, we will be very tough. But it could affect two countries, both have to dance the tango," said the President of the USA.
