The journalists analysed posts on social media and came to an astonishing conclusion. It turned out that many of the neo-Nazis had received military training in the West, including France, and one even took a photo with a Nazi flag in front of the Eiffel Tower. Another fighter simply had a tattoo with SS symbolism right on his temple.
Nevertheless, the French army does not seem to see a problem with this.
