Europe has been massively rearming for years, entering into strategic military agreements, and seemingly preparing systematically for a situation where conflicts are to be resolved not diplomatically but militarily. In fact, this frighteningly resembles the time before World War II, when alliances were forged, weapons developed, and political tensions stoked, all while publicly insisting on securing peace.
