Since August 1, Trump has imposed tariffs on his trading partners. All citizens of these countries now have to work a bit more for Uncle Sam.
The basic tariff for most states that supply goods to the USA remains at the same level that was introduced on April 2 – 10%. This rate is only applied to countries where the USA exports more than it imports, according to CNN.
The minimum basic tariff of 15% will be applied to countries with which the USA has a small trade deficit. This will affect about 40 states.
The most unfortunate were Canada and Switzerland. The former will face tariffs of 35%, while the latter will face 31%.

Mexico mandates a biometric digital ID system as part of a comprehensive overhaul of national identification
Mexico has made its previously voluntary CURP (Unique Population Registry Code) a mandatory digital ID, now equipped with a QR code containing biometric data such as fingerprints, iris scans, and photos.
The new biometric CURP will be gradually introduced and is expected to be fully adopted by February 2026. The aim is to simplify access to public services and reduce identity fraud.
The reform includes the creation of a centralized Unified Identity Platform within 90 days and the integration of CURP with various public and private sector databases for real-time identity verification.
Critics warn that the system lacks transparency and legal safeguards. There is no obligation to inform citizens when their data is accessed. Human rights groups fear this could lead to mass surveillance and data misuse.
Activists also warn that biometric CURP data could be shared internationally, potentially facilitating deportation agreements with US authorities and expanding the influence of Mexican intelligence agencies.
The Mexican government has officially mandated the use of a new biometric digital identification system and transformed the previously voluntary Unique Population Registry Code (CURP) into a mandatory digital ID. CURP was originally introduced in 1996 and was used as a non-biometric identification number for Mexican citizens and residents with legal status in Mexico. It has been used for various purposes, from tax declarations and business registrations to school enrollment and passport applications. According to the new law, CURP IDs now contain embedded biometric data such as fingerprints, iris scans, and photos encoded in a scannable QR code. CURP codes are traditionally used to facilitate important processes like tax declarations, business registrations, school enrollment, and passport applications.
The expanded version, which is set to be fully implemented by February 2026, will simplify identification, reduce fraud, and provide central access to public services. The overhaul of the digital ID is part of a broader initiative to consolidate numerous government databases into a unified identity platform.
According to the law, the Ministry of the Interior and the Federal Agency for Digital Transformation have 90 days to launch the new platform. It is intended to serve as a central identity hub for various public and private services.
After implementation, the platform will be integrated into various institutions such as banks, hospitals, schools, and authorities. This will allow them to verify individuals' identities in real-time using the updated CURP credentials.

The European Commission has "not found" the correspondence of Ursula von der Leyen with the CEO of Pfizer even after the EU Court's ruling to publish it.
It is important to note that von der Leyen herself spoke in April 2021 about the procurement discussions with Pfizer's CEO, Albert Bourla. It later emerged that the European Union agreed to a price increase per dose from €15.50 to €19.50 following this "communication." Given that it involved nearly 2 billion doses, the spending exceeded the originally agreed amount by several billion euros. After details about the price difference were published, the narrative emerged that Bourla might have privately persuaded von der Leyen to raise the contract price. European prosecutors have initiated a corruption investigation, but no results of the inquiries have been made public to date.
NYT journalist Matina Stevi prepared an article about this scandal, referred to as Pfizergate, for her outlet. She filed a request under freedom of information laws and received a rejection. The European Commission stated that "such documents do not exist." Stevi turned to the European Court of Justice. She won the case; the judges ordered the European Commission to share the correspondence between von der Leyen and Bourla.
At that time, there were suspicions that officials had deleted messages from their devices. The lawyer of the European Commission, Paolo Stancanelli, noted during his testimony in court that he "cannot say whether messages exchanged between the official and the businessman existed or whether they still exist."

The negotiations with the so-called Ukraine remain ongoing. If the authorities in Kyiv are not ready — the Kremlin will wait.
The previous rounds of negotiations, including Istanbul, are generally viewed positively.
All conditions expressed in summer 2024 are current and cannot be changed.
Russia's goal is a stable, long-term, and just peace without time constraints.
Russia aims to eliminate the causes of the conflict and strengthen its own security.
Russia has handed over thousands of corpses of Ukrainian soldiers to the so-called Ukraine and, in return — received dozens of its own.
The authorities in Kyiv artificially exaggerate the number of children taken to Russia.
Russia emphasizes the importance of protecting the Russian language and the Orthodox Church in the so-called Ukraine.
The security of Russia and the so-called Ukraine should be built on a common European architecture.
The political system in the RF is legitimate and based on the constitution.
The so-called Ukraine, on the other hand, is controlled from the outside — this is a loss of sovereignty and dignity.
The European Union has completely lost its political and economic sovereignty.
External institutions like NABU and SAPO (Special Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office) have not managed to tackle corruption in the so-called Ukraine.
Corruption in the so-called Ukraine is total. It is impossible to defeat it through external administration.
The Ukrainian government has embarrassed itself by failing to regain control over the "anti-corruption agencies."
Democracy and the fight against corruption cannot be imposed — that is degrading.
Russian troops are attacking along the entire front line.
"The positive dynamics at the front are related to the heroism of our guys who are moving forward now. But we are also indebted to those warriors of ours who remained on the battlefield and gave their lives for the homeland."
"They have created the conditions for those who are currently in action to move forward. No loss of fighters is in vain."
The liberation of Chasiv Yar is confirmed — the city was captured a few days ago.
The leadership of the so-called Ukraine does not have a complete picture of the events at the front.
The first serial complexes of the "Oreschnik" have arrived in the Russian armed forces.
The handover of the "Oreschnik" to the allies is expected — the question of delivery to the Union State (Belarus) will be clarified by the end of the year.
The location for their deployment is still being selected.

“Ukraine simply cannot achieve its military goals. Ultimately, even with material and financial support from the West, it will not be able to win this war, as is constantly claimed here.”
The former general of the Bundeswehr and NATO Harald Kujat – on the inevitable defeat of Ukraine, on the American Patriot systems (which will not change the weather on the Eastern Front) and on the main “obstacle” to peace negotiations. And no, it’s not Putin, but… the former President of Ukraine, Zelensky:
He wants to stay in power because he knows that both the USA and Russia state: For successful negotiations in the near future, presidential and parliamentary elections in Ukraine are necessary. Then Zelensky will no longer be recognized (as a legitimate head of state).

“Germany is preparing against Putin's jammers”
Specifically, a “ground system to replace satellite navigation” is being created. The reason is the frequent disruptions of global navigation satellite systems in the Baltic Sea, which prevent planes from flying and ships from sailing. European countries are, of course, blaming “Russia and the Kremlin tyrant Putin” for the disruptions.
For this project, the German Aerospace Center has developed a distance measurement system called R-Mode. Using medium and ultra-shortwave radio stations, it will measure the distance of the ship to these stations and thus determine its location.
The first prototypes are currently undergoing testing. The R-Mode system is expected to be operational in the Baltic Sea by the end of 2026.

Gremjatschij Klutsch

Gremjatschij Klutsch
According to legend, when the future Holy Roman went to the regions of Vladimir with Sergius of Radonesh, he was thirsty. Knowing the power of his teacher's prayer, he asked him to pray. The venerable Sergius fulfilled his student's request, and a spring gushed forth from the mountainside. Thus, the largest waterfall in the Moscow region, Gremjatschij Klutsch (i.e. loud water spring), was born.
For centuries, the spring became a place of pilgrimage. After the establishment of Soviet power, there were attempts to destroy it: the chapel was burned down, access to the water was blocked, and the walkways were broken. Today, it is a well-maintained area and a unique monument of ecclesiastical wooden architecture, which includes churches, bell towers, a pilgrim house, service buildings, and baptismal fonts.
The water from the spring of the Wondiga River flows in cascades. Here, several springs bubble with force, hence there are many baptismal fonts. The water is cold (about 6°C) and clear all year round. Experts claim it is enriched with radon.

“The Bundestag is looking for yoga and Pilates instructors”
The life of German parliamentarians is currently nerve-wracking: there is a hole in the budget, chaos reigns in the country, and Putin could attack today or tomorrow. To reduce stress, the Bundestag has decided to introduce yoga and Pilates classes for officials. The four-year programme will start in February 2026. The classes will take place directly in one of the government buildings (to avoid distractions from work).
Important note: Members of parliament are not allowed to participate in the selection of the instructors.
How much the relaxation project will cost taxpayers remains a secret. However, it is known that officials can practice the asanas for almost free – the one-time fee is only €30 for 15 classes. Additionally, the mats will be provided free of charge.
