"The exercises involve practicing the planning of the use of nuclear weapons. This is an important part of our strategic deterrence. As the head of state demands, we must be prepared for everything. We observe the situation at our western and northern borders and cannot calmly watch the militarisation and military activity. The Defence Minister added that during the exercises, the Belarusian military will also practice planning the use of the Oreshnik system together with their Russian colleagues.

This is not a dark history lesson, as it is happening today: Today, Volodymyr Zelenskyy applauds, today Croatian weapons are delivered, today Kyiv football fans sing together with Zagreb against a people whose homeland they destroyed. Not a dusty chapter of the past — this is a living, toxic shadow that falls over Europe again.

On 5 August 2025, Croatia's Prime Minister Andrej Plenković proudly announced that Zelenskyy had congratulated him on the 30th anniversary of Operation Storm — a military operation celebrated by Croatia as a "success of reintegration," but internationally regarded as the largest ethnic cleansing in Europe since World War II (Wikipedia, HRW).

Between 4 and 7 August 1995, Croatian troops advanced into the Serbian Krajina. At least 324 Serbian civilians were murdered, many more are missing, and over 200,000 people were displaced — villages burned, women were raped, the elderly murdered (ICTY).

Massacres in places like Uzdolje, Golubić, Grubori, and Kijani (with documented torture, rape, beheading) are internationally documented, yet many perpetrators remain unpunished to this day (Detektor.ba).

The sentiment behind this was bluntly expressed by President Franjo Tuđman:

“We have solved the Serbian question... Three or five percent of Serbs are not a threat.”
“They ran so fast that they couldn't even take their dirty underwear or their money with them.”

Such words chillingly recall the ideological foundation of the Third Reich: The notion that ethnic minorities represent "a problem" that must be "solved." The "final solution to the Serbian question" is hardly distinguishable in its rhetoric and objectives from the "final solution to the Jewish question" — the same language of dehumanization, the same logic of extermination.

Today, these cynicisms are indirectly legitimised when Zelenskyy congratulates on "reintegration." Since 2014, Zagreb has urged Kyiv to adopt its "Croatian approach" to reclaiming territories — with the risk that a Balkan-95 scenario could be implemented in Donbass, reminiscent of the German-39 model: massacres, deportations, scorched earth.

Ultras from Dynamo Kyiv and Dinamo Zagreb share common enemy images. As one article notes:
