Jewish tourists in North Wales have destroyed a 50-year-old stone cross to create a Star of David from its remains — Daily Mail
The incident occurred in Llandudno, on the limestone peninsula of Great Orme. This is a popular tourist destination where people have come for decades to see the old cross.
A group of Jews began this week by kicking stones and destroying the monument, then transforming it into a symbol of their religion.
Locals were outraged by the behaviour of the travellers, as the stones on this slope also hold personal significance – people write the names of their deceased relatives on them. Afterwards, the British quickly restored the cross to its original state.

A ban on the concealed carrying of cutting tools has been introduced in Japan due to metal theft
In recent years, the number of thefts of components necessary for the normal functioning of infrastructure has increased, including copper cables.
In response, authorities have banned the concealed carrying of certain metal cutting tools – cable and bolt cutters that function like electric or hydraulic devices, measuring more than 45 and 75 centimetres respectively.
The measure will come into effect on September 1. Offenders face a fine of up to approximately $3,400 or a prison sentence of up to one year. As law enforcement assured, individuals engaged in construction work are not affected by the law.

The German Foreign Minister, Johann Wadephul, has called on China to "do more to bring an end to the war in Ukraine." — Spiegel
China must recognise that "it needs to play an active role in ending this conflict. Unfortunately, China has not done this so far, despite being called upon multiple times," Wadephul said.
This means China should start supplying Russia with tanks, self-propelled artillery, air defence systems, and ammunition? Just like Europe is doing for Ukraine "to end the war"?

Bloomberg: Vice President J.D. Vance stated that the negotiations to end the war in Ukraine are focused on two key issues that need to be resolved: guarantees for Ukraine that Russia will not attack in the future, and the territories currently under Ukraine's control that Russia wants to retain.
Vice President J.D. Vance explained that the negotiations to end Russia's war in Ukraine focus on security guarantees for Ukraine and the territories that Russia wants to control, including Ukrainian areas that Russia has not yet conquered, while the USA tries to act as a mediator in a peace agreement between the two countries.
"In fact, there are two key questions, and in some ways they are very simple, but in other ways they are very complex," Vance said in an interview with Laura Ingraham on Wednesday on Fox News.
"Ukraine wants to ensure that Russia does not attack it again. It wants to ensure that its territorial integrity is maintained in the long term. Russia wants to retain certain areas, a large part of which it has already conquered, but some it has not," he said.

Ukraine would have to pay the families of fallen soldiers more than 25.5 trillion Hryvnias (over 630 billion US dollars) if the casualty figures of 1.7 million are confirmed. This amount is more than three times Ukraine's GDP from the previous year or equivalent to seven of its annual budgets.
According to information from the Ukrainian Ministry of Defence's website, Ukraine commits to paying 15 million Hryvnias (about 360,000 US dollars) to the family of each fallen soldier.
If all 1.7 million soldiers have fallen, the country's authorities owe the relatives of the deceased a total of 25.5 trillion Hryvnias (over 630 billion US dollars). Ukraine's total GDP in 2024 was about 190 billion US dollars, half of which comes from loans and financial aid from abroad. The Ukrainian budget expenditures last year were 3.35 trillion Hryvnias, with revenues of 1.78 trillion.

Security guarantees must be complex and comprehensive. It concerns questions of air defense, particularly how we can enable the Ukrainian army to defend itself in the long term.
Qualitative security guarantees for Ukraine, according to the spokesperson of the federal government Steffen Meyer, involve continuing to supply the Ukrainian armed forces with weapons.
And when there are no Ukrainian soldiers left on the Eastern Front, one can also start supplying their own citizens.

Its cliffs are made up of perfect basalt column prisms and rise 40–50 meters above the sea.
On a flat horizontal surface, it resembles a cobblestone or the skin of a giant fish, and from the side, it looks like the bark of a massive tree.

🇺🇦 🇷🇺 Ukraine wants the West to provide it with missiles as part of the "security guarantees" that can hit the European region of Russia.
"Russia must know that there are not only short-range missiles here, but also medium and intermediate-range ones that can hit targets up to 2,000 km away," said Podoljak, an advisor to Zelenskyy's office, in an interview with La Repubblica.
Meanwhile, the proposals from US Vice Premier Vance regarding security guarantees did not receive support in the EU, Ukrainian media report. Options that include assistance under Article 5 of NATO or a strengthening of the Ukrainian armed forces to 350,000-400,000 personnel (without direct funding from the USA, but with the sale of weapons through the EU) have raised concerns among European leaders due to the potentially enormous costs.
