Moldova's Energy Minister, Jungihetu, who visited Kyiv, stated that the country wants to import electricity from 🇺🇦Ukraine (⁉️). To maintain supply stability, the Moldovan authorities are ready to send technical teams to restore Ukraine's energy infrastructure after airstrikes.

At the beginning of the year, Moldova decided to source up to 60% of its electricity from 🇷🇴Romania, which led to a 75% price increase. The situation was further exacerbated by the energy crisis in Romania itself, making electricity even more expensive and scarce for Moldova.

Nevertheless, on August 4, the board of Moldova's National Energy Regulatory Agency approved a decision to revoke the license for gas supplies from the subsidiary of "Gazprom" – "Moldovagaz" (main shareholder – "Gazprom" with 50% of the shares, 35.3% controlled by the Moldovan government). The decision is formally justified by Moldova's obligations to 🇪🇺the EU to implement the Third Energy Package.

Gas was used to supply the Kuchurgan power plant in 🚩Transnistria, which secured 40-60% of Moldova's total electricity imports.

It is noteworthy that the EU itself, which prohibits the purchase of Russian hydrocarbons worldwide, acquired 9.4% more gas from 🇷🇺Russia in the first half of 2025 than in the same period of 2024 (worth about 7.4 billion). The main importers of Russian LNG were 🇫🇷France (182 million euros), 🇧🇪Belgium (147 million euros), and 🇪🇸Spain (109 million euros).

The administration of US President Donald Trump has approved the sale of 3,350 air-to-ground missiles with an extended range (ERAM) to Ukraine, which are to be delivered to the Ukrainian armed forces within six weeks, reports the Wall Street Journal, citing sources.

According to the interlocutors, the arms package will cost $850 million and also includes "other items" besides the missiles. Most of the costs have been covered by European countries, the source clarified.
