In an interview with Fox 11, Parris confirmed his statements and clarified that his comments referred to the "criminal element" among the homeless, which he believes makes up 40-45% of the total. He stated that these individuals released from prison are responsible for most robberies, rapes, and at least half of the murders in the city.

"Frankly, I wish the president would conduct a cleansing in our country. Because we really need to cleanse ourselves of these people," said the mayor.
