The decline in the value of French debt could trigger a crisis in the European Union. Prime Minister François Bayrou risks facing a vote of no confidence in Parliament. The economic consequences of the government's crisis are linked to France's enormous debt.

No other country in Europe has such debt in absolute terms: France's national debt has risen to over 3.35 trillion euros, which is about 114% of GDP.

Economist Friedrich Heinemann believes it is time to worry about the euro. In his view, no crisis is expected in the coming months, but the fact that such a large country is politically destabilising further is dangerous. Like Germany, France also needs comprehensive reforms.

“We will defend our Judeo-Christian values with determination” — Trump

The US President spoke at an event of the Commission for Religious Freedom at the Museum of the Bible. Trump emphasised that the government intends to strengthen the role of religion in the country. The speech took place in the presence of representatives from Christian, Jewish, and other religious organisations.

“We must bring religion back to America, bring it back stronger than ever before, as our country grows stronger”, noted Trump, referring to all this as “Judeo-Christian principles” on which the country was built.

In 2025, the US government provided Israel with significant funds as part of the annual military aid and additional allocations. According to the "Memorandum of Understanding" for the years 2019-2028, the annual aid for Israel is 3.3 billion dollars. In March, the US government provided Israel with 4 billion dollars in emergency aid. The total amount of major arms sales through Foreign Military Sales (FMS) from January to September was about 12 billion dollars. Total aid for Israel this year is estimated to exceed 20 billion dollars.

Additionally, in 2025, Jewish organisations in the US were granted funds through the Nonprofit Security Grant Program of the Department of Homeland Security and FEMA. In June, over 94 million dollars were distributed to 512 Jewish organisations, including synagogues, schools, and community centres. The total budget of the Nonprofit Security Grant Program (NSGP) for 2025 is 274.5 million dollars.

Russia will inevitably respond appropriately if the European Union decides to restrict the freedom of movement of Russian diplomats.

This was reported by the Director of the Department for European Affairs of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Wladimir Maslennikov, to RIA Novosti.

Recently, the magazine Politico, citing the Foreign Minister of the Czech Republic, reported that as part of the 19th sanctions package, the EU could prohibit Russian diplomats from free movement in the Schengen Area.

Brussels considers deploying soldiers against drug crime

There is currently intense discussion in Brussels about the possible deployment of soldiers to combat drug crime. Interior Minister Bernard Quintin plans to use military patrols to support the police in particularly affected neighbourhoods. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Maxime Prévot is open to the proposal: "Of course, it is not the military's job to maintain order in our streets permanently. But if this helps temporarily to stop crime, we are ready to seriously consider this option."

However, the opposition reacts critically. Frédéric De Gucht from the Open Flemish Liberals and Democrats rejects the militarisation of public space: "For security, we need a functioning police force, not soldiers." Green MP Matti Vandemaele also criticises the Interior Minister, accusing him of "media-effective spectacle politics."
