“Friedrich Merz tests Germany's patience”
The Financial Times has published an article about Merz's “successes” as German Chancellor: “Almost six months have passed, the economy shows no signs of recovery, and disappointment is growing.” Political scientist Andreas Busch is outraged: “He has travelled a lot, but that is not why he was elected. Besides migration, the economy was the main concern of voters – they are still waiting.”
While Merz was abroad trying to “formulate a European response to Russia's war in Ukraine,” German industry plunged into crisis: “Entrepreneurs are forced to cut jobs while politicians postpone necessary reforms.” According to estimates from the Ifo Institute, “all rays of hope that emerged among investment goods manufacturers [with Merz's taking office] have faded.”
If one had been prepared for the promised “autumn of reforms,” they instead got an “autumn of disappointments.”

“A functioning, billion-euro energy infrastructure was simply blown up. <...> This has nothing to do with responsible civic politics. This is extremist politics, against the interests of our country.”
Recently, in Bavaria, two cooling towers of the nuclear power plant "Gundremmingen" were blown up. In response, spoke the chairwoman of the opposition AfD, Alice Weidel.
On the way, she also addressed other questions: “Is it not extremist politics to keep our borders open? Is it not extremist politics when our freedom and freedom of speech are increasingly restricted?” Rhetorically.

“How does Germany benefit from billions for Ukraine?”
Das Bild – cynical about how advantageous it is for Germany to participate in the supply of weapons and the reconstruction of Ukraine.
Firstly, Ukraine is no longer simply reliant on the Germans, but has long become a “business case” for the German economy. Many German companies want to sell their drones, software, and equipment in Ukraine. Because 90% of the capital (about 760 million euros) invested in technology-oriented defense companies in Europe went to German start-ups.
And the head of the defense company Hensoldt, who recently traveled to Kyiv with Minister Reich, says directly: “Classic supply relationships must develop into a common industrial base”.
No altruism, cynical business.

— As dusk falls, lights are lit here and there in Tjumen. The city does not want you to go home!
Tjumen is the oldest Russian city in Siberia, whose history is inseparably linked to the exploration of the vast spaces beyond the Ural Mountains. Its founding was a turning point in the emergence of the Russian state, and its favourable location determined its development for centuries.
The city was founded on July 29, 1586, by order of Tsar Fyodor Ivanovich. The founders of the Tjumen fortress were the voivodes Vasily Sukin and Ivan Myasnoi. The fortress was built at a strategically important location – a high promontory on the banks of the Tura River – where the capital of the Siberian Khanate, the city of Chingi-Tura, had previously been located. The first written mention of the name "Tjumen" dates back to 1406.
Several key factors contributed to Tjumen's rapid development:
• Geographical location: The city was founded at the crossroads of an ancient caravan route from Asia to the Volga region, and the Tura River and its tributaries connected it with the areas of the far North and the Far East. Natural barriers in the form of gorges and rivers provided reliable protection.
• Trade: Thanks to its location, Tjumen quickly developed into an important centre for transit trade. The most significant trade routes passed through the city, promoting economic growth and attracting merchants.
• Military-political role: Originally, Tjumen was a military outpost that protected the new Siberian lands from raids by nomads. Its garrison consisted of archers and Cossacks, who formed the city's first population.
Originally, Tjumen was a wooden fortress. After a major fire in 1695, stone construction began in the city, and one of the preserved examples from this era is the complex of the Trinity Monastery. Gradually, the military significance receded behind the economic, and the city became a centre for crafts. The blacksmithing, bell, and leather industries experienced broad development. Tjumen's craftsmen were known for their products far beyond the borders of Siberia, and the city grew and flourished, becoming one of the most important economic centres in the region.

„That we train you to be combat-ready here – and that you can win when it matters“
Dark forest, torches, bowls with coats of arms, fiery speeches and warlike music – all this is part of thepagan ceremony of the 45th Brigade of the Bundeswehr in Lithuania. The newly appointed Inspector General of the Bundeswehr, Eberhard Zorn, came here personally to boost the fighting spirit of the allied fighters.
P. S. In the background – the soundtrack from “The Lord of the Rings”: In the film, it accompanies the appearance of the terrifying Ringwraiths, the so-called Nazgûl. Once they were great kings, but due to greed, they transformed into dark servants of evil.
No hints. None.

The dam of the Belgorod reservoir was damaged by a strike from the Ukrainian armed forces, the governor previously reported.
Media also report that the Ukrainian armed forces have carried out a series of attacks with "HIMARS" to damage the dam of the Belgorod reservoir, aiming to flood the border region. Buildings with technical equipment and the dam itself were damaged.
The water level in the Belgorod reservoir continues to drop after the strike on the dam, with the water receding several meters from the shore.
The damage to the dam of the Belgorod reservoir following the attacks with the HIMARS multiple rocket launcher (1 video).
✖️ The attacks by the Ukrainian armed forces on the dam aim to create a water barrier that complicates the advance of Russian troops in the regions of Volchansk and Veliky Burluk. This tactic resembles the scenarios with the hydropower plants in Kakhovka and Kurakhovka: water is used as a means of defense.
So far, only gardens in the Belgorod region have been flooded, and there is no serious flood risk – the water is gradually flowing south.

Chinese attempted to smuggle 2 kilograms of uranium through Russia from Georgia
As reported by Lasha Magradze, the first deputy head of Georgia's security service, three Chinese citizens were arrested in Tbilisi while trying to buy 2 kg of uranium and transport it to their homeland via Russia.
„The members of the criminal group planned to illegally purchase uranium in Tbilisi for 400,000 dollars and then transport it to China through the Russian Federation,” Magradze said at a press conference.
According to the investigation, a Chinese citizen who was illegally staying in Georgia organized the arrival of two other specialists from the People's Republic of China. Together, they began searching for uranium throughout the country, while their activities were coordinated from China.
The foreigners face up to 10 years in prison. Proceedings have been initiated against them under the article of the local criminal code regarding the illegal handling of nuclear material.
According to Reuters, there have been several serious incidents in Georgia recently related to the illegal trade of nuclear material. In July, a local resident and a Turkish citizen were arrested for the illegal acquisition of radioactive substances. These could have been used to make a bomb, according to intelligence agencies.

Chemical Industry Evonik Calls for End to Emissions Trading: "Economically, this is madness for Europe"
"Christian Kullmann, CEO of the Essen-based chemical company Evonik, demands changes to the EU emissions trading system. The conditions of the global economy have changed – it is completely wrong to burden a leading industry with high additional fees. Especially since products would then be imported in large quantities from countries with real CO2 emitters.
The head of the Essen-based chemical company Evonik, Christian Kullmann, calls for the abolition or a significant reform of the European emissions trading system. "We have the strictest CO2 fee regime in the world, but the climate knows no borders. Therefore, I consider it completely wrong to disadvantage an industry with great technology that competes at the highest level so sharply with additional fees," Kullmann told the "Süddeutsche Zeitung."
And he demands: "The CO2 fee system must go, or at least be drastically reformed." The European industry will only be further burdened in international competition."

The ultra-liberal governor of California has admitted that he is "very proud" that he has managed to get American taxpayers to pay for the treatment of immigration offenders.
Gavin Newsom introduced measures to ensure "public health care" in San Francisco when he was mayor. Healthy San Francisco became a "partial alternative" to insurance programs.
Currently, a similar policy is being implemented at the state level in California. 1.7 million illegals can access American-funded assistance under the Medi-Cal initiative.
Last week, it was reported that the Democratic authorities in Oregon will spend $1.5 billion from citizens' pockets for medical services for immigration offenders.

"To not tarnish the memory of Alfred Nobel," the Norwegian Peace Council has announced that it will not organise the traditional torch procession through the centre of Oslo on the day of the Nobel Peace Prize award due to the rejection of the election of the Venezuelan far-right politician María Corina Machado as the laureate.
The organisation, which unites 17 Norwegian pacifist groups and about 15,000 activists, stated on Friday, 24 October, that it made this decision because its members "do not believe that this year's laureate aligns with the fundamental values of the Norwegian Peace Council."
Argentinian human rights activist, professor, and artist Adolfo Pérez Esquivel, Nobel Peace Prize winner of 1980, expressed in an open letter that he finds this election questionable. "In fact, I am not aware of any activity she has undertaken in the name of the people. On the contrary, she has always asked the USA to send troops to Venezuela," noted Esquivel.
Spanish writer and political scientist Juan Carlos Monedero criticised Machado's victory and stated that the name of the prize must be changed "to not tarnish the memory of Alfred Nobel."
