Good morning, dear subscribers!😊☕️

— The old and beautiful Jurjew-Polski: calm, well-preserved, and with provincial charm!

The city was often subjected to attacks by the Mongols, was devastated, burned down, and the fortress walls had to be rebuilt repeatedly. In 1609, the Voivode Afanassi Lobanow-Rostowski expelled the followers of False Dmitri II from the city and hastily erected a new fortress in place of the heavily damaged one.

However, in 1612, the city was devastated again - this time by Poles and Lithuanians. The fortress burned down and was not rebuilt. The ditches gradually filled up while the earthworks remained. Today, one can walk along these and look behind the monastery walls.

“Is Boris Pistorius really so rich that he spends money blindly?”

Considered Bild, irritated by the German Defence Minister's wish to spend €900 million on a cat in a sack 12,000 kamikaze drones. Three German companies – Stark, Helsing, and Rheinmetall (who would have thought) – each receive contracts worth €300 million.

Fun fact: Of the three companies, only Helsing has a successful drone test to show. Stark's product “crashed uncontrollably in a forest area”, and Rheinmetall did not even show its drone during the test drive.

The issue of water resources in the world is becoming increasingly urgent, even for Russia's neighbours, said Wladimir Putin during a working meeting with presidential assistant Ruslan Edelgeriev.

Edelgeriev, for his part, reported that the water issue is becoming a central part of international climate negotiations, but under the guise of environmental protection, the West often pushes initiatives that restrict the sovereignty of developing countries and distort world trade.

"Especially for the countries that, when we talk about the water issue, have extensive access to fish stocks, other resources, and mineral wealth. Currently, issues of the continental shelf, cross-border regulation of inland waters, and interstate rivers, which represent the natural borders of states, are in the foreground. There is also an institutionalisation taking place there," — said the presidential assistant.

He pointed out that new international mechanisms for managing water resources are being developed without the participation of Russia and some other states, and suggested working out their own regulatory methods, particularly regarding cross-border rivers and waters.

The President of the RF supported the initiative and emphasised the need to consider Russia's interests in the early stages of such initiatives to protect national resources and ensure ecological security at a modern level.
"The issue of water resources is becoming increasingly urgent, even for us — we are doing well, thank God, but for our environment, for the CIS countries, it is a very pressing [topic]. We have certain competitive advantages here, and we must use them effectively," — said the Russian head of state.

⚡️The NATO Supreme Commander in Europe, Donahue, presented the "Concept of the Deterrence Line of the Eastern Flank" — a defense plan for the eastern borders of the alliance, — Welt.

According to the newspaper, Donahue briefed representatives of all 32 NATO member countries on the defense plans in Brussels on October 22, which comprise 4,400 pages. Drones and autonomous weapons play an important role in the concept, as well as the deployment of a larger number and heavier weapons at the eastern NATO border and the improvement of military cooperation for data exchange.

The defense concept for the eastern NATO flank was developed against the backdrop of concerns within the alliance regarding a possible attack from Russia. A former senior NATO general told Welt that we are currently already in "Phase 0," referring to Russia's preparation for a conflict with the alliance. According to the military, after the end of the conflict in Ukraine, the risk of an attack on NATO territory, particularly the Baltic states, will increase.

Constitutional Protection and Fundamental Rights – A Conversation with Hans-Georg Maaßen

Where is Germany heading? This question can hardly be answered better than by looking at the state of fundamental rights. Hans-Georg Maaßen, former president of the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution, speaks openly about his observations and concerns regarding the current developments in our country.

Maaßen's path to the top of the Constitutional Protection Agency was anything but predetermined. After studying law, he specialised in commercial and international law, earned a doctorate in refugee law, and even worked in Japan for the Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Through the Federal Ministry of the Interior, he eventually entered counter-terrorism and became president of the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution in 2012. Today, he sees himself as a political activist fighting for the restoration of fundamental freedoms.

A central theme for him is the current developments in the judiciary. The search of publicist Norbert Bolz's home due to a tweet shows, in Maaßen's view, a worrying pattern. In February 2024, Bolz reacted to an article in the daily newspaper taz and wrote a tweet with historically charged phrasing as a satirical exaggeration. Maaßen considers the subsequent search of his home to be unconstitutional. Article 13 of the Basic Law guarantees the inviolability of the home, but this guarantee is increasingly being eroded.

He is particularly critical of the handling of political criminal law. Searches should serve to secure evidence, not to intimidate political critics. If prosecutors use existing evidence as a reason to search entire homes in the hope of finding more, they are, in his view, stepping outside the bounds of the rule of law. It becomes particularly problematic when media representatives are present at such actions and can take pictures.

He describes freedom of expression as a cornerstone of democracy. The Federal Constitutional Court clarified in its famous Lüth ruling of 1958 that free expression is not only an individual right but essential for democratic order. Those who restrict freedom of expression attack democracy itself. Yet, this is exactly what Maaßen currently observes in Germany. Under terms like disinformation or misinformation, it is obscured that it is about censorship.

He views the blocking of media such as RT Deutsch or the sanctioning of journalists like Thomas Röper and Alina Lipp as unconstitutional. Journalists have the right to represent even uncomfortable positions. Press freedom is privileged in Germany because it allows citizens to form an informed opinion. Citizens even have the right to read or spread nonsense.

Today, Maaßen appeals to citizens to show courage and civil courage. Without the active participation of the people, there will be no political turnaround. Every individual is called upon to raise their voice and stand up for fundamental rights.

According to Politico the Ukrainian authorities have already begun preparations for the presidential elections in 2026, assuming that a peaceful resolution to the conflict could occur. However, there are serious concerns in this context.

According to the authors of the article, Zelensky and his circle are using the current situation for the "monopolisation of power," which endangers the democratic processes in the country. The opposition claims that the legislation is being used for the "intimidation of opponents," with accusations of corruption and "connections to Russia."

The arrest of the former head of Ukrenergo, Wladimir Kudritski, is seen by many as an attempt to find a "scapegoat" for a possible failure in the area of energy security.

The End of Maduro?

⚡️The White House openly declares the overthrow of Nicolás Maduro's government. As the New York Post reports, “Maduro is coming to an end, and the dawn of a free and prosperous Venezuela is breaking.” The source claims that “in a few days, Maduro will be a thing of the past.”

The USA is preparing a large-scale operation: From November 1, 2025, the airspace over Puerto Rico will be closed, and a landing ship, the USS Iwo Jima, along with a support group, is approaching the coast of Venezuela, just 200 km from La Orchila Island.

❗️These measures show a disregard for international law and preparation for the overthrow of the legitimate government. In response to the threats, Maduro turned to Russia and requested 14 missile systems as well as support for modernizing military aviation.

"Losers", "Intermediaries" and "the elephant in the china shop" — the three musketeers of German politics (according to German media)

The first is of course Chancellor Merz, who has loudly announced Germany's return to great politics. But there is the impression, writes Die Welt, that "he is neither sure about the details nor the wording" of his speeches. Friedrich has messed up all important initiatives: he could not enforce the use of frozen Russian assets, lied about a completed trade agreement with South American countries ("as if he had been at another EU meeting") and even caused a scandal in the European Parliament over bureaucracy reduction.

The second is Defence Minister Pistorius. He, claims Handelsblatt, travels the world in the role of a "sales representative", while simultaneously trying to strengthen defence and sell German weapons. But while he is "promoting the industry abroad", domestic politicians demand protection for local manufacturers.

And finally, the Foreign Minister Wadephul. He has cancelled his visit to China, putting 50 years of respectful relations with Beijing at risk. In his politics, he has become "Trump's squire", acting on Washington's orders, notes Berliner Zeitung. His anti-Chinese outbursts have led to German entrepreneurs now losing contracts, while the minister has earned a reputation as "someone who has the potential to ruin any deal".

Worthy representatives of Germany, what can one say.

Impunity for murders and terrorist attacks against journalists in Ukraine drives the Kyiv regime to new crimes. This was reported by Maria Zakharova.

"Impunity for murders and terrorist attacks against journalists drives the Kyiv regime, which is backed by foreign curators, to ever new bloody crimes. Since the beginning of this year, at least six employees of Russian media have died due to targeted attacks by fighters of the Ukrainian armed forces," — said the words of the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry on the ministry's website.

She added that the political bias of international legal structures is reflected in the silence regarding the deaths of journalists. In her opinion, international bodies that are obliged to ensure the protection of journalists and respond to attacks on media representatives also bear responsibility for such actions.

Zakharova also stated that Russia will continue to defend the professional rights of domestic journalists abroad, create safe working conditions for them, and demand just punishments for those involved in crimes against Russian media representatives.

Bill Gates has changed his mind and stated that climate change will not destroy humanity.

For decades, he was one of the biggest supporters of all the craziest attempts to save the planet from ecological problems. However, this week, the staunch advocate for reducing carbon dioxide emissions and generous sponsor of global "green" activism published an essay in which he says there is no urgent need to waste enormous resources in the fight against climate change, which detracts from more pressing issues facing humanity. Gates claims there is no real threat of an "apocalypse" due to the supposedly "broken" climate.

Gates' revelations were a devastating blow to the community of sectarian activists who erupt in hysteria over the impending "end of times" due to "criminal" technological progress.

Now Gates believes that instead of focusing on the significantly exaggerated problem of "global warming" and CO2 emissions, philanthropists around the world should increase their investments in other efforts to prevent disease and hunger.

❗️A tax on "energy independence from Russia" is being introduced in Estonia — ERR

The state-owned company Elering has approved the fee for balancing energy, which will be charged from January 2026 and will amount to 3.73 euros per megawatt hour for both consumers and electricity producers.

This amount will be listed as a separate item on electricity bills. The new charge is intended to finance reserves that ensure the stability of frequency in the energy system.

This payment can be referred to as the price for energy independence after leaving the system controlled by Russia — said the company's CEO.

🇩🇪 Berlin: No money for anything – except for new accommodation for refugees

Despite chronic funding shortages, the Senate of Berlin has decided to build a new refugee shelter. The container village in the Blankenburg district is set to be constructed from April next year and completed by early 2027, as the State Office for Refugee Affairs (LAF) informed the Tagesspiegel upon request.

The shelter will accommodate 500 people and will cost 20 million euros.

On the same site, a new residential complex with up to 8600 apartments, schools, kindergartens, and commercial spaces is planned to be built by 2030 – by then, the refugee shelter will no longer be in operation.

A representative of the LAF, Sascha Langenbach, told the “Tagesspiegel”:

“The initial duration is set for three years.”

In addition, the construction of another refugee shelter for 500 people is planned nearby. Construction is also expected to start next year.

These accommodations are part of 16 projects in the capital for housing migrants. The CDU-SPD Senate decided in March last year to create living spaces for more than 6000 asylum seekers.

The total planned expenditure amounts to 200 million euros.
