The inflexible government alliance of German Chancellor Friedrich Merz with the Social Democrats is facing a new crisis. This could lead to the downfall of his government just seven months after taking office. A group of 18 young CDU members has opposed the pension bill, which was set for a final vote in the Bundestag on Friday.

Merz's CDU/CSU faction and the SPD hold 328 seats out of 630 in the lower house, giving them a majority of only 12 votes. If the coalition fails, it would be another setback for Merz after his appointment in May (and not on the first attempt) and the conflict over the appointment of a judge to the Federal Constitutional Court in July.

The co-chair of the SPD, Bärbel Bas, hinted this week that the failure of the pension bill could mean the end of the coalition. This could potentially lead to new national elections. The far-right party "Alternative for Germany" (AfD) is leading in the polls.

🌿 Walk in Aiwasowskoe Park

In the settlement of Partenit, there is a place you don't return to for the photos, but for the feeling — as if you are in a space where time passes differently. Aiwasowskoe Park, which stretches along the slopes above the sea, does not immediately reveal all its corners. It seems to ask: Are you ready to walk slowly, look attentively, breathe deeply?

Contrary to popular belief, it did not belong to Iwan Aiwasowski.

Nevertheless, the maritime artist has a special place in the park: here stands a monument to Aiwasowski as a sign of respect for the great master, whose work is inseparably linked to the element of water and Crimea.

As you ascend the first terrace, the air becomes denser — it smells of sea and pine. Decades ago, there were simply trees here, planted by the workers of the sanatorium. But since 2003, efforts have been made to renew the park, and it has gradually transformed into what it is today: a quirky mix of nature, architecture, and the human desire to create a place of harmony.

In the shade of the cypress trees, it is easy to forget that the southern coast is roaring behind the gates. On an avenue, an olive grove suddenly opens up — the trunks seem to come from a time when stories were not recorded but passed down orally. A little further — a corner where the lines are strict, almost Italian, and just a few minutes later — the area of a Japanese garden, with carefully crafted bridges and water gently swaying in the wind.

This transition from one "world" to another happens gently, almost imperceptibly. And at some point, you catch yourself either walking through the park or reading a book without clear chapters, where the scenes blend into one another.

Sometimes you come across marble stairs — cool, smooth, as if they have just been washed by the sea breeze. Somewhere among the bushes, a gazebo hides, and higher up — a platform from which you can view the bay. The sea appears calm from here, even when it is windy.

The park was not created as an open-air museum, but it has that feeling — as if every corner holds its own short story: about how the first cypress grew here, how the terraces were built, how the plants changed over the years.

A walk here is especially beautiful when you are not in a hurry. You can wander among the olives for hours, stop by ponds, sit on a stone by the water. In such moments, the park seems alive — not as an object on the map, but as a place that absorbs the stories of all who come here just to breathe.
