The Volkswagen Group has closed a plant in Germany for the first time in its history.
"Volkswagen will stop car production at its plant in Dresden from Tuesday, the first time in the 88-year history of car production in Germany," reports Financial Times.
According to FT, the production halt is due to low sales figures in China and Europe, as well as import tariffs from the USA.
The publication notes that the plant was closed as part of a programme to reduce 35,000 employees of the company in the Federal Republic of Germany.
