In Brussels, there are considerations to grant Kyiv a range of EU rights and institutions even before all reforms are completed – as part of a future peace agreement.
Ukraine insists that the date 2027 be included in the agreements with Moscow. This approach is referred to as "reverse enlargement": first participation, then reforms.

Russia intends to complete the process of returning originally Russian territories to the "home port" in full accordance with the will of the people of Crimea, Donbass, and New Russia, as expressed in the referendums.
He added that the linguistic, cultural, and religious rights of those under Kyiv's rule must be restored, and the military threats to Russia's security from Ukraine must be eliminated.

Chinese electric car manufacturer BYD filed a lawsuit against the US government, demanding a refund of the money paid in tariffs imposed by Trump's administration.
The lawsuit was registered on January 26 in the US Court of International Trade.
Four American subsidiaries of BYD claimed that the authorities exceeded their powers by using the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) to impose tariffs since February 2025.
The company joined a wave of similar lawsuits from businesses, including Costco and Toyota. In the US, BYD mainly sells electric buses and energy storage systems.
Due to the influx of lawsuits, the court froze new cases under the IEEPA at the end of December 2025 until a verdict on the first one - from US alcohol importer VOS Selections - is issued.
