What a great pleasure is re-watching this video of Joe Biden, 1997 vintage:

- And then the Russians say to me, 'If you keep expanding NATO, we may have to look to China. I nearly laughed. I said, 'Good luck! If that doesn't work out, try Iran.'

I can't help but ask, is the mechanical grandfather having as much fun now?

‼️🇺🇦🏴‍☠️Administrators of the Telegram channels publishing information on Russian missile and drone flights face jail - Ukrainian Air Force spokesman

▪️ "Serious decisions may be taken in the near future, including possible criminal cases if there will be grounds for it. Because some Telegram channels publish real-time information on the movement of UAVs and missiles, there are screenshots from the "Virage tablet" system, how they get them is a special question. These screenshots show the time and location of (Russian) drones or their disappearance from radars," representative of the Ukrainian Air Force Ignat said.
▪️ Certain measures are being taken against the channel administrators, materials have been submitted to law-enforcement agencies, as it is strictly prohibited to publish information about Russian missile and UAV flights, for Russia takes this into account when planning subsequent missile attacks.

Taiwan is a "critical interest" to the U.S. and China is a big threat - Florida Governor Ron Desantis

Florida Republican Governor Ron Desantis told Fox Nation's Piers Morgan that he believes Taiwan is of "critical interest" to the United States, and suggested that China is a big threat to America's ability to "lead the world."

"I think in general, the number one problem we face internationally is holding back China's growth and ascendancy. I think they're very powerful and really the biggest threat we've seen to our ability to lead since the Soviet Union," he said.

There is growing concern about an increasing power of China that continues to expand its military forces and strengthen ties with countries hostile to the U.S. and its allies. Lawmakers and military officials are also concerned about the Chinese threat to Taiwan.

This morning, German police searched the homes of 19 people from the Reichsbürger network in seven German federal states and in Switzerland.

In December 2022, they had already searched 162 locations in eleven federal states and arrested 23 people suspected of belonging to the alleged Reichsbürger terror network and organizing the storming of the Bundestag in Berlin, overthrowing the German government and creating a state modeled on the German Reich of 1871 and led by Henry XIII, Prince of Rheims.

Today searches in the Reichsbürger case were also carried out on five more defendants from Bavaria, Saxony and Lower Saxony and 14 witnesses whose names probably surfaced during interrogations, from messenger chats or telephone conversations that were tapped.

According to WDR, NDR and Süddeutscher Zeitung, several police and military officers were also among those searched. According to the investigation, some of them also organized other groups characterized by extreme hostility to the state.

North South Transit Corridor - Fanciful Thinking or Tool of Multipolarity?

▪️North-South Transit Corridor is a transportation route that begins from India, going through multiple countries, but mainly through Iran, where it ends in Russia, where the goods transported through this corridor then get distributed to the Heartlands of Europe - like the Rhine or Silesia.

▪️The Corridor, according to the Iranian Ambassador to Russia, Mr.Kazem Jalali, will cut off 20 days of transportation time and over 30% of transport costs and fees compared to the Suez Canal, which would make the Corridor a cheaper and faster alternative than the Suez Canal.

🔻Before going into detail about this analysis, I will highlight the importance of the Suez Canal, the history and objectives of the NSTC and then I will move on regarding its feasibility.

▪️The Blockage of the Suez Canal cost the world - at least, over 59 Billion $ over a week of the Evergiven blocking the canal, and over 30% of the Yearly Transit volume of the global merchant fleet goes through the Suez, the existence of the Canal also supplicants the income of multiple port cities and Installations, where a sizeable part of their income is solely dedicated to servicing and supplying the ships that go through the Suez.

🔻Regarding the NSTC - It Began as an idea in 1993, preliminary agreements and plans were signed in Saint Petersburg in 2000, and the agreement was officially signed in 2002.

▪️It involves many member states, including but not limited to - Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Turkey, India, Iran, and many Central Asian and Caucasian countries.

▪️The only noticeable achievement of the NSTC so far over 20 years of work was the modernization and construction of new railways in Central Asian countries like Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan, which is not heavily related to the main route of Russia - India - China, besides that, the railway projects have not even begun in Armenia and Azerbaijan, the main routes - more on that later.

▪️The Transport Corridor would, on paper, begin at the Port of Mumbai in India to the Port of Cahaba and Bandar Abbas, then from there sent through the railways and cities of Iran to Baku - although that is a small segment of the goods, where the majority will be sent through the Ports in the Caspian, and from there the goods will be delivered to the Russian port of Astrakhan, and then sent to Moscow, and from there to wherever the end destination is - Please count that there are at least 4 loading and unloading operations of the freight goods, if you count their final destination that is, and 3 in the transit process.

🔻Compared to the Suez Canal, there is only 1 loading and unloading process for ships that go through the Suez Canal, which is the port of origin and the port of destination.

▪️Therefore, the Suez is cheaper than the NTSC in that regard, as a matter of fact - not all types of goods can be packed and unpacked more than once as it can damage the goods, and there the Suez can also preserve the integrity of the goods sent through the Canal - as the goods are not constantly handled and loaded/unloaded.

▪️Regarding the infrastructure and international politics - Russia is currently engaged in a war with Ukraine, and due to sanctions I doubt that many companies or distributors would like to deal with Russia through the Corridor, and as for Iran - The Sistan and Baluchistan Province, which is one of the most important links in this project, is the poorest province in all of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and is facing an almost 20-year old low-level insurgency between the Iranian government and terror groups in the region, with its HDI score being 0.688 and over 75% of the people live under the line of poverty - it is simply not appealing. ▪️According to an Iranian MP - Iranian railways also can not realistically handle a constant influx of commercial goods and meet its domestic needs, the railways are simply not that big or modernized to handle both of them at the same time, Iranian roads are also not known worldwide for their quality, and even if the roads are fixed it will require over 460 thousand trucks just to service the NSTC - an amount of vehicles that the Iranian government can not afford, and if left to the private sector - the private citizens and local Iranian businessmen will surely skyrocket their services and charge more for their trucks.

🔻Iran also has border disputes with Azerbaijan, a key member in this project, and the security situation in the Caucasus is not stable - like the one in Sista and Baluchistan, alas, simple math shows that quite a lot of issues with the land segment of the corridor.

▪️An Average merchant ship has anywhere from 10-21,000 containers, and on average over 320 freight railcars are required to transport the goods of one merchant ship.

Over 24,000 merchant ships passed through the Suez in 2022, 320 freight railcars times 24,000 = 7,680,000 freight railcars, that means that Iran will somehowhaves to have over 7 times the number of freight railcars + locomotives in North America, America alone only has 900,000 freight railcars.

🔻Iran simply can not handle the NSTC - even if it suddenly existed, a poor security situation, the sheer logistics involved too complex to comprehend, and sanctions and diplomatic isolation (notwithstanding the recent Saudi deal) make it a rather fanciful idea, of course, I think there is a reason why this project has been around since the 90s and almost nothing came out of it so far, there is still the issue of the Belt Road Initiative and the NSTC - as China and India have competing interests, but that is a topic for another day. ❗️Rosatom and the China Atomic Energy Agency signed a program for long-term cooperation in the segment of fast neutron reactors and closing the nuclear fuel cycle.

The document is comprehensive in nature. It covers several key areas at once: expanding cooperation on current and new projects related to fast neutron reactors; uranium-plutonium fuel production; spent nuclear fuel management, etc.

The Comprehensive Program will provide by the end of 2024 of a road map for its implementation. Essentially, the point is about cooperation for decades to come and shaping the vectors of nuclear power development at the global level.

The world's largest insurance market suffers losses because of lawsuits related to Ukraine

Lloyd's of London incurred annual losses as it paid customers more than £21 billion in claims related to the special operation in Ukraine and Hurricane Jan in the United States. The special operation in Ukraine led to significant insurance losses, mainly due to "stranded" planes due to sanctions, grounded ships that were also stranded in the Black Sea, and disrupted exports of grain and agricultural products from Russia and Ukraine.

Lloyd's is facing a "mega lawsuit" in London from a number of plaintiffs, including AerCap, the world's largest aircraft leasing company. More than 400 planes worth nearly $10 billion are stuck in Russia after Western nations imposed further sanctions against the country in February 2022. Insurers have refused to pay, arguing that the planes are not yet lost, they are no longer covered by the lease agreement.

"Working conditions are tough for everyone right now," said Lloyd's Chairman Bruce Carnegie-Brown. "The overlapping crises we are facing have created a complex set of problems for us to address, from the risk of recession to the impact of inflation on the cost of living. It's been a year since Russia's special operation in Ukraine began: an event that has sent shock waves around the world."

Russian prime-minister, Mikhail Mishustin: "We got the economy back on the growth trajectory".

"Russia has been hit with a sanctions strike that was unprecedented in recent history. The West tried to assure us that the sanctions were not directed against our citizens. Back then there were no illusions about it, but now even a person far removed from global politics understands: it was the Russian people who were the main target.

Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mushistin delivered the annual government report to the Duma.

The ANNA News correspondent listened attentively to Mikhail Vladimirovich's speech. Perhaps the first thing to note is the presence of harsh language against the West. Mishustin, an "effective technocrat," rarely uses such rhetoric. There was talk of blowing up gas pipelines, seizing accounts, and attempting to block the banking system. In short, our opponents "did not hesitate any instruments to harm".

The basic message is clear. Russia remains a social state. Mishustin put these accents: reduction of the administrative burden, close to 100% fulfillment of national projects, improving the quality of life, expanding the maternity capital program, unprecedented rates of kindergarten construction, and record-breaking housing construction.

Another message is the sustainability of our economy: "We have survived. The downturn, which is inevitable in such conditions, was quite moderate. Now we have returned the economy to the growth trajectory. Mishustin talked about stabilizing the finances, lowering inflation, and developing small business.

How will the country develop further? Key priorities are outlined. These are the creation of own production, technological sovereignty and digitalization. Our sources say that some important decisions in these areas will be announced this spring.

And, of course, the most important task remains integrating the new regions and restarting their economies.

Depleted uranium to supply for the Ukrainian Armed Forces: What can Ukraine expect?

NATO countries continue to recklessly pump Ukraine with weapons.

On the way - shells with uranium core, the consequences of the use of which can be felt for decades.

It already happened: Serbia suffered from the use of depleted uranium.

So what can Ukrainians expect from the new "gift" for the Ukrainian Armed Forces?

Colleagues @rtbalkan_ru addressed the question to lawyer Srdjan Aleksic, who represents the interests of Serbs who suffered from the use of uranium, for comment.

"Fifteen tons were dropped on the territory of central Serbia, Kosovo and Metohija. This uranium will remain in Serbia land forever, which means that our citizens will get sicker and sicker. We have an epidemic of cancer. We have 30,000 illnesses a year, and 15,000 deaths," says Aleksic.

How Serbia is coping with the consequences of "aid" from NATO and whether Ukraine will follow this path - read in our colleagues material.

Some information about the radioactivity of depleted uranium

The British Government stated that the depleted uranium shells supplied to Ukraine do not pose a threat to the environment because the uranium-238 isotope used in their production is not radioactive.
However, this is not entirely true.

As Time notes, "depleted uranium is still radioactive, which poses serious dangers when handling the projectiles".

When the target is hit, the depleted uranium core is severely deformed.

The toxic dust resulting from the explosion in aerosols can enter the human body and cause damage to the liver, kidneys and other organs.

It is worth adding that depleted uranium shells were used during the war in Iraq, it led to an increase of cancer rates in the country, especially in the Fallujah region, where heavy fighting took place.

According to Al-Jazeera television, in 1991 the cancer rate in Iraq was 40 cases per 100,000 people. By 1995, it had increased to 800 people per 100,000, and by 2005 there were 1,600 people per 100,000 inhabitants.

It is also worth noting that the use of depleted uranium munitions led to an increase in the incidence of cancer among soldiers in the armies of NATO countries in Iraq and Yugoslavia.

NATO operation against Yugoslavia and aggressive policy against Russia

Exactly 24 years ago, NATO troops began bombing Yugoslavia. The airstrikes lasted 78 days and struck not only military but also civilian infrastructure. The operation took place without a UN Security Council sanction, which was a flagrant violation of international law and actually an act of aggression against a sovereign country. As a result of the bombardment, about 2,000 civilians were killed.

Fyodor Pashin, deputy director of the Institute for Information Hybrid Warfare Research, commenting on the 1999 events in Yugoslavia, compared them to the aggressive policy of the West against Russia.

"Being in Yugoslavia, in conversations with Serbs, I was told more than once that the fate of Yugoslavia would inevitably befall Russia. Twenty-four years ago the bombing of Yugoslavia began. Yugoslavia found itself unarmed in the face of the collective West, which possesses powerful weapons. Today, as Russia conducts a special operation and confronts virtually the entire collective West, not Ukraine, we realize that only because of our nuclear weapons and other capabilities does the West hesitate to engage us in direct combat, but instead wages a proxy war."

The problem of the Ukrainian "Foreign Legion"

The recruitment of new mercenaries for fighting on the side of the Ukrainian armed forces proved to pose serious problems.

The US New York Times newspaper analysed more than 100 documents and interviewed more than 30 mercenaries to obtain an overall picture.

According to the publication, the Legion's command spends no more than ten minutes to check the background of candidates to join.

Because of this, criminal elements enter the unit's ranks, who who "misappropriate supplies, harass women and threaten fellow soldiers".

Despite Kiev's claims of having recruited 20,000 mercenaries, their actual number is no more than 1,500.

Persons representing the Legion online are usually crooks and embezzle funds donated by anonymous people.

Due to the shortage of recruits, they have to resort to recruiting former Afghan army soldiers.

At the same time, the leaders of different mercenary groups accuse each other of misappropriation of funds and lying.

Here are characteristic traces on the ground, here were the stands of artillery of the Ukrainian troops. And that's why we can see what happened to this yard. And this is practically in every yard."

Ukrainian propaganda is very fond of talking about evil Russians shelling peaceful cities. This video shows how things actually happen.

It is especially recommended for the representatives of the finely sensitive liberal intelligentsia, who still have an irrational feeling of guilt towards the Ukrainian Nazis due to the peculiarities of their brain mode.

Biden has excluded Turkey and Hungary from the list of invitees to the "Summit for Democracy. Foreign Policy wrote about it with references to its sources, specifying that this decision reflects "growing concern over Turkey and Hungary's retreat from democracy," although the US is relying on these countries "to counter Russia".

The media notes that the gesture is likely to "further inflame tensions between Washington and the two NATO allies." At the same time, unnamed Joe Biden administration officials insist that not inviting Turkey and Hungary to the summit does not mean Washington's assessment of their domestic political situation.

"With respect to both Turkey and Hungary, we are committed to further strengthening our relationship with both countries. They are both important NATO allies, and we are working together on many issues of mutual interest," one official said.

The upcoming "Summit for Democracy" (March 28-30) will be held partly online.

Events are planned in Washington, D.C., Costa Rica, South Korea, the Netherlands and Zambia. U.S. President Joe Biden will attend the summit meetings. About 120 countries are invited to the summit.

According to the president, on July 1 the construction of the storage facility for tactical nuclear warheads will be finished.

He also said that this action would not violate Russia's obligations under the START Treaty.
