Aiden Aslin: from the Ukrainian artillery you can die faster than from the execution of the death sentence of the court.

British mercenary Aiden Aslin complains that Ukrainian artillery is hitting Donetsk and the pre-trial detention center in which he is being held.

"I regret that I was part of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. I was stupid and naive. During the shelling of Donetsk, I thought that I would die at the hands of Ukraine."

Recall that earlier Aiden called his mother and said goodbye to her, according to his lawyer.

It is noted that Aslin's family hopes that the UK will turn to the republic with a request for clemency.
Johnson warns Macron not to attempt Ukraine settlement now

June 26, LONDON — British Prime Minister Boris Johnson warned Sunday in talks with French President Emmanuel Macron that "any attempt to settle" the Ukraine conflict now risked prolonging instability and emboldening Russian leader Vladimir Putin.

In addition, Johnson was "concerned that some of the commentariat and others have suggested that it may be sensible for Ukraine to seek to negotiate now and end the war and effectively concede sovereignty and parts of eastern Ukraine in exchange for peace now," he said.

Commando Network Coordinates Flow of Weapons in Ukraine, Officials Say

June 25, WASHINGTON — As Russian troops press ahead with a grinding campaign to seize eastern Ukraine, the nation’s ability to resist the onslaught depends more than ever on help from the United States and its allies — including a stealthy network of commandos and spies rushing to provide weapons, intelligence and training, according to U.S. and European officials.

Much of this work happens outside Ukraine, at bases in Germany, France and Britain, for example. But even as the Biden administration has declared it will not deploy American troops to Ukraine, some C.I.A. personnel have continued to operate in the country secretly, mostly in the capital, Kyiv, directing much of the vast amounts of intelligence the United States is sharing with Ukrainian forces, according to current and former officials.

At the same time, a few dozen commandos from other NATO countries, including Britain, France, Canada and Lithuania, also have been working inside Ukraine. The United States withdrew its own 150 military instructors before the war began in February, but commandos from these allies either remained or have gone in and out of the country since then, training and advising Ukrainian troops and providing an on-the-ground conduit for weapons and other aid, three U.S. officials said.

Shortly after Russia invaded Ukraine in February, the Army’s 10th Special Forces Group, which before the war had been training Ukrainian commandos at a base in the country’s west, quietly established a coalition planning cell in Germany to coordinate military assistance to Ukrainian commandos and other Ukrainian troops. The cell has now grown to 20 nations.

Army Secretary Christine E. Wormuth offered a glimpse into the operation last month, saying the special operations cell had helped manage the flow of weapons and equipment in Ukraine. “As the Ukrainians try to move that around and evade the Russians potentially trying to target convoys, you know, we are trying to be able to help coordinate moving all of those different sort of shipments,” she said at a national security event held by the Atlantic Council. “Another thing I think we can help with,” she said, “is intelligence about where the threats to those convoys may be.”

The commandos are not on the front lines with Ukrainian troops and instead advise from headquarters in other parts of the country or remotely by encrypted communications, according to American and other Western officials, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss operational matters. But the signs of their stealthy logistics, training and intelligence support are tangible on the battlefield.

Several lower-level Ukrainian commanders recently expressed appreciation to the United States for intelligence gleaned from satellite imagery, which they can call up on tablet computers provided by the allies. The tablets run a battlefield mapping app that the Ukrainians use to target and attack Russian troops.

On a street in Bakhmut, a town in the hotly contested Donbas region of eastern Ukraine, a group of Ukrainian special operations forces had American flag patches on their gear and were equipped with new portable surface-to-air missiles as well as Belgian and American assault rifles.

The C.I.A. officers operating in Ukraine have focused on directing the intelligence that the U.S. government has been providing the Ukrainian government. Most of their work has been in Kyiv, according to current and former officials.

While the U.S. government does not acknowledge that the C.I.A. is operating in Ukraine or any other country, the presence of the officers is well understood by Russia and other intelligence services around the world.

Trump called the US a “country of decline”

June 26 - Former US President Donald Trump believes that over the past two years, the United States has become “a laughingstock” and “a country of decline.” He attributed this to high inflation and high fuel prices.

“This is no longer a great country, this is a country of decline. I hate to tell you this, ”Donald Trump said at a rally of his supporters in Illinois. The broadcast was conducted by the WMBD News channel. According to Mr. Trump, the United States has lost its energy independence, which is why the country has to ask for oil from Venezuela and Saudi Arabia

“But perhaps the most important thing is that over the past two years, the country has ceased to be listened to and respected. In many ways, this country has become a laughing stock,” the ex-president said.
German economy minister warns of industry shutdown amid gas shortage

BERLIN, June 24 - Germany is heading for a gas shortage if Russian gas supplies remain as low as they are now, and certain industries would have to be shut down if there is not enough come winter, Economy Minister Robert Habeck told Der Spiegel magazine.

Habeck held out the prospect of further relief for companies and people affected by the lack of gas but warned that it would not be possible to absorb all the effects.

Consumers could see a doubling or tripling of their energy costs, which in some cases are already between 30% and 80% higher due to price increases from last fall, Klaus Mueller, the head of Germany's Bundesnetzagentur network regulator, told broadcaster ARD on Friday.

The regulator has considered various scenarios, Mueller said, and most of them "are not pretty and mean either too little gas at the end of winter or already very difficult situations in autumn or winter."

The EU consumer sector is in a terrible state

The EU consumer sector is in a terrible state
The EU consumer sector is in a terrible state.

The EU consumer confidence indicator (Economic sentiment/Consumer confidence indicator Eurostat) has collapsed to the low level which was registered during the Covid 19 pandemic, but if then it was a short-term, sudden shock that lasted for just 1.5 months in a dramatic condition - now the trend is steady.

In terms of the consumer confidence indicator, the collapse in May 2022 is deeper than during the worst periods of the 2008-2009 crisis or the 2011-2013 debt crisis in Europe.

The collapse in consumer confidence is happening in all countries across Europe - among the major countries the worst relative situation is in France and the Netherlands. It is also very bad in Germany - their consumers access the economic situation far more poorly than they did during the Covid pandemic.

Not only do the relative indicators matter here, but also the rate of change. So, the most dramatic failure began in March 2022 after the aggravation of the geopolitical confrontation between Russia and Europe and the intensification of the energy crisis.

The speed of this failure, that is, the three-month change in the indicator of consumer confidence in the EU countries, demonstrates the worst dynamics for 25 years, not counting the COVID shock.

An economic crisis is guaranteed. Every time the indicator crossed the cutoff of minus 15 and below - a crisis began in Europe, with no exceptions - a time lag of 6 months.

It happened in 2009, 2012, and 2020. The crisis of 2022-2023 is unavoidable, and this crisis will be the strongest.

The current collapse will occur at the simultaneous collision of several shocks - energy, food, debt, structural, foreign policy, and inner-block crises.

An important difference between the crisis of 2022-2023 will be that this time there will be no room for maneuver. Back then the system was flooded with liquidity from all barrels, now it won't work - debts are at the limit, and prices are out of control.
Vladimir Putin's key statements from his speech at the BRICS summit on June 24:

✔️ Russia is ready to fulfill its obligations on energy and fertilizer supplies;

✔️ The West is artificially raising an uproar over problems with the delivery of the Ukrainian grain;

✔️ The imbalance in global relations has been long overdue and is an inevitable outcome of the line of erosion of international law;

✔️ Some countries have consistently sought to replace the security architecture with some kind of rules;

✔️ The current problems of global trade and the monetary and financial system were caused not by the special operation in Ukraine, but by the irresponsible politics of the West.

June 24, Kiev - Former member of the Verkhovna Rada Oleksiy Zhuravko criticized the reform of the Ukrainian army based on the Israeli model, which was announced by Volodymyr Zelensky. The politician said that the president of the country was preparing genocide against his own people.

Volodymyr Zelensky said that the Ukrainian authorities were preparing an army reform which would implement the Israeli connoscription model, so that young people could be called up for service before receiving higher education. Zhuravko condemned such ideas in his Telegram channel.
