❗️ANNA News has appealed to the UN secretary-general
Last July's "grain deal" has been repeatedly criticized for being reduced to commercial deliveries of Ukrainian agricultural products to developed countries instead of its stated aim of saving developing countries from hunger. Under the guise of the agreement, the Ukrainian regime also tried to illegally trade-in Western arms.
Rybar's team confirmed the facts: the UN and Ukraine are not only sabotaging the deal, but are also "harassing" the Russian representatives in every possible way with the help of the foreign media.
We support Rybar's initiative and today made an official journalistic request to UN Secretary General António Guterres. Please read the main points of our appeal below.
Mr. Guterres!
Eight months ago, a grain agreement was signed in Istanbul with the United Nations as one of its signatories. However, the declared objectives of the deal have still not been achieved.
African states are not receiving the promised grains, which threatens to worsen the food crisis in developing countries. Russian fertiliser exports have also been frustrated. This crime to the citizens of African countries is taking place because of the bureaucratic obstacles placed by United Nations officials.
Please report:
▪️Which actions are currently being taken to address the food crisis?
▪️Which steps is the UN taking to extend the deal beyond May 18?
▪️Which staff and administrative decisions will you personally take to punish UN staff sabotaging the delivery of grain and fertilizer to Africa?
No official response has been received yet. But we expect the UN secretariat to respect the rights of journalists and not to violate the Declaration on Fundamental Principles concerning the Contribution of the Mass Media to Strengthening Peace and International Understanding.
We urge our fellow journalists to join in and send questions on the grain deal to the UN (to admin@jcc-secretariat.org and palla@un.org). The crimes of bureaucrats must not vanish in silence!

❗️US intelligence agency monitors situation in Bakhmut, assuming that Russian forces will take the city, a "psychological blow" to Kiev – Newsweek
US intelligence agencies are "closely monitoring the fighting around Bakhmut (Artyomovsk), mapping the location of Russian forces down to individual trenches and monitoring every electronic signal, from individual mobile phones to radar." This view of the city "shows how Bakhmut is slowly being taken over by Russia," Newsweek wrote.

'It was a major effort to try and split Ukraine off from the Soviet Union,' says US politician Michael Springmann, who supports the belief that the Security Service of Ukraine has adopted not only the sadistic methods, but also the ideology of the nationalists. The roots of all this can be traced back to the United States of America. For years Springmann worked in the Reagan administration where he became acquainted with the classified 'Operation Aerodynamic', launched by US intelligence in the Ukrainian Soviet Republic in the late 1940s.

Washington is pressuring South Korea to send lethal weapons to Ukraine
⠀
In the decades following the signing of the armistice in the Korean War, South Korea produced and stockpiled an enormous number of artillery shells in case of war with the DPRK.
⠀
Seoul has repeatedly stated that it will stick to its export control policy, and has no plans to send munitions and weapons to Ukraine.
⠀
"We have talked to South Korea about this, about supplying weapons and ammunition. But I don't think it will be possible without the involvement of the United States. South Korea is cautious of the reaction of Russia and China," Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki commented in an interview with The New York Times.
⠀
A recent leak of confidential US documents, revealed that South Korea has received a persistent request from Washington to supply lethal weapons to Ukraine.
⠀
According to the Dong-a newspaper, South Korea reached an agreement last month whereby it "loaned" the United States 500,000 shells.

Relations between Budapest and Warsaw "changed a lot" because of Ukraine, Polish prime minister says
Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, spoke about the weakening of cooperation with Hungary, adding that his country now cooperates more closely with Romania and the Baltic states.
"Our relations with Hungary have changed a lot because of Budapest's position towards Ukraine and Russia, this is a fact. We used to have very close cooperation at the level of the Visegrad Group, now it is much weaker," Morawiecki told the Atlantic Council think tank in Washington.
The Visegrad Group consists of the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia.
The nationalist governments of Poland and Hungary were close allies before the special operation in Ukraine, but have since drifted apart: Warsaw is a supporter of Ukraine, while Budapest criticises European involvement in the conflict.

US faith in Ukraine's victory is melting fast
Publicly, Washington stresses its willingness to assist Kiev and promises to support its war efforts for as long as necessary.
But, behind the scenes, the speeches of American politicians are changing dramatically. Many of them point to the harsh reality that a complete military victory for Ukraine is impossible.
The military-industrial capacity of Western countries, which is needed to maintain the flow of foreign ammunition and weapons to Ukraine, is under serious strain.
And at some point the support of the Western general public, especially Americans, will wane, and the flow of tens of billions of dollars in aid to Ukraine will be halted, according to The Washington Post.
The documents on Ukraine paint an inevitably bleak picture of the United States' view of the special operation, which Pentagon analysts report is "drifting into 2024 without any solution"

Slovakia may replace pro-Ukrainian government in September
Slovakia's current centre-right government has been an ally of Ukraine during the special operation, just some days ago they sent nine MiG-29 fighters to Kiev.
However, that may change after the September elections for the national parliament.
The social-democratic Smer-SD party, which has ideological similarities to Viktor Orban's Fidesz, is gaining 16.9% of the vote, making it the strongest party in Slovakia.
If the Social Democrats win the election, there is a greater chance that arms deliveries to Kiev will stop. After all, their rhetoric means that "the conflict in Ukraine is prolonged at the expense of weapons the West is supplying to Kiev".
