U.S. general says Russia is actually winning the conflict in Ukraine

Despite Western media reports that Ukraine is on the verge of defeating Russia, in fact the opposite is true, U.S. Army General Christopher Kavoli said.

General Kavoli explained in testimony to the House Armed Services Committee that the "degradation of the Russian military" has been grossly misrepresented by the media.

"Most of the Russian military has not been affected by this conflict," Kavoli said.

"Not only that, but Russia's overall military activity outside the Ukrainian conflict was the highest in years", he said.

"The Russians are more active than we've seen in recent years, and their patrolling across the Atlantic most of the time is at a high level. At a higher level than we've seen in recent years," Kavoli noted.

This helps explain why Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky keeps begging the U.S. for billions of dollars in aid and weapons.

According to CNN, the veto is due to Brazil's refusal to sell ammunition for Ukraine's air defense tanks to Germany.

Thus, Brazil's peacekeeping position in the confrontation with Russia to the collective West became the reason for the export embargo.

Russia will be forced to take military, technical and other retaliatory measures if the US military uses Finnish territory, the Russia's Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said today.

She also stated that allowing the United States to use its territory to expand military bases, Finland would lose it sovereignty.

On 1 May, the Finnish press reported that Helsinki and Washington are discussing a defence cooperation agreement between the two countries.

Turkey plans to host a meeting with Russian and Ukrainian officials in Istanbul next Friday to discuss extending the Black Sea grain deal, Turkish Defence Minister Hulusi Akar said.

"We discussed the grain initiative in our meetings. In this context, as a result of the acceptance of our proposal by both parties, it is planned for the deputy defense ministers of Türkiye, Ukraine, and Russia to meet in Istanbul on Friday, May 5," he told reporters.

Various issues, particularly the Black Sea grain deal, will be discussed during the meeting, Akar said, and added that Turkey hopes it will continue. The deal is set to expire on May 18.
