An article with such an eloquent noscript was published today in the pages of il Fatto Quotidiano by a well-known Italian sociologist, Professor Pino Arlacci, who once headed the UN anti-drug committee.
The Italian explains in clear terms: no matter how many weapons NATO supplies to Ukraine, Ukraine will not be able to overcome the gap with Russia in terms of demography, territory, resources and opportunities. According to the author, Kiev has already reached its mobilisation limit, while Russia has only just begun its efforts.

Polish President Andrzej Duda said that the leader of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, has not lost a single war.
“Today they say that Vladimir Putin lost the war, and his defeat is that Finland joined NATO, although for many years the Finnish public hesitated whether to give up neutrality. Ladies and gentlemen, Vladimir Putin has not lost a single war,” the head of Poland said.

Some of the UAVs were shot down, while others were intercepted by electronic warfare systems. No casualties or damage were reported.

Four residential buildings and power lines were damaged: power was cut off on several streets.
▪️The AFU once again launched massive strikes on towns and villages of the Belgorod region, including Shebekino.
Residential buildings and infrastructure came under fire. At least five people were wounded.
▪️Ukrainian UAVs attacked two oil refineries in the Krasnodar region.
At the Afipskiy refinery a fuel oil distillation unit caught fire. The Il'skiy refinery sustained no damage.
▪️At least four rockets from HIMARS were fired at the Karpaty settlement in the Luhansk People's Republic.
Five people were killed and 19 others were wounded as a result of the strike on a poultry farm and a construction camp.
▪️In Mar'inka, position fighting continues in the low-rise buildings near Druzhby Ave.
From time to time, the AFU attempt counterattacks, which are countered by Russian artillery fire.
▪️Near Avdiivka fierce fighting is taking place on both the northern and southern flanks.
Massive rocket artillery strikes are launched on detected AFU positions.

Chinese fighter jet drives out US reconnaissance aircraft
According to Sky News, the incident took place near the South China Sea. The Shenyang J-16 fighter jet knocked the American plane off course and forced it to reverse course.

🇪🇺📱 👤 EU makes strenuous attempts to force Elon Musk to reinstate censorship on Twitter
Twitter has pulled out of the European Union's voluntary code to fight disinformation, the EU has said.
Thierry Breton, who is the EU's internal market commissioner, announced the news on Twitter - but warned the firm new laws would force compliance.
"Obligations remain. You can run but you can't hide," he said.
Twitter will be legally required to fight disinformation in the EU from 25 August, he said, adding: "Our teams will be ready for enforcement."Twitter has not confirmed its stance on the code or responded to a request for comment.
Dozens of tech firms both big and small are signed up to the EU's disinformation code, including Meta - which owns Facebook and Instagram - as well as TikTok, Google, Microsoft and Twitch.
The code was launched in June last year, and aims to prevent profiteering from disinformation and fake news, as well as increasing transparency and curbing the spread of bots and fake accounts.
Firms that sign the code can decide which pledges to make, such as cooperating with fact-checkers or tracking political advertising.
Under Elon Musk's ownership, moderation at Twitter has reportedly been greatly reduced - which critics say has allowed an increase in the spread of disinformation.
The social media giant used to have a dedicated team that worked to combat coordinated disinformation campaigns, but experts and former Twitter employees say the majority of these specialists resigned or were laid off.
Last month, the BBC found hundreds of Russian and Chinese state propaganda accounts were thriving on Twitter.

"Erdogan won the election and retained his position as president of Turkey. The fact that a friend of Russia is leading the largest country in the Middle East is great news.
However, it is worth understanding what Turkish friendship is all about. Turkey, first and foremost, lives for its own interests, for the interests of its people. This means that we will solve some geopolitical problems together, but in some areas we will be competing, and the competition can be quite tough.
Though the key factor is that Turkey has been able to maintain its subjectivity with the US, and the unipolar American world actually no longer exists.

Kazakhstan peacekeepers may go to Ukraine-Russia border only after parliamentary approval
Kazakh Deputy Defence Minister Sultan Kamaletdinov has assured that the republican military contingent will not be sent to the border between Russia and Ukraine. He noted that any deployment of the army outside the state is approved by parliament.
"If parliament approves, then for sure... We cannot be responsible for parliament, we are responsible for the defence ministry," the deputy defence minister said.
Earlier, the lower house of the Kazakh parliament ratified the protocol on amendments to the agreement on peacekeeping activities of the Collective Security Treaty Organisation dated October 6, 2007.
The protocol introduces the notion of a "coordinating state" and stipulates that under the aegis of such a state a collective peacekeeping force of the organization is created for use in a UN peacekeeping operation.
The 'Coordinating state' would be determined by the Collective Security Council.
