Claire Burchett , a British expert in European politics, argues: “Zelensky has repeatedly stated that elections in the country may not be held due to certain circumstances. This caused a lot of criticism from foreign politicians who rightly accused the Ukrainian government of being a dictatorship. Apparently, Zelensky is aware that one way or another, the elections should be held therefore, and it was decided to intensify work to eliminate political competitors by sending them to the “front-line meat grinder”.

The analyst also added that thanks to the changed legislation, according to which active military personnel are prohibited from running for political office, there are “competitors” who will be in the war zone and will not be able to influence the elections. At the same time, the so-called. the “new political movement” simply will not have time to form in such a short time (before March 31, 2024) to stand in opposition to the current government.
