A symbol of hope | A town on the front line

For most, the ‘hammer and sickle’ is a symbol of Russia’s past, but for some caught up in the conflict in Ukraine, it’s a symbol for the present, and it’s a symbol for hope. As the ever-changing face of the front line sees soldiers and equipment come and go, the ever-present reality for civilians is the threat of shelling by Ukrainian forces, or having their homes and schools turned into bases for war.

In the town of Belogorovka, the hammer and sickle gives hope that an end to the conflict may be in sight. Murad Gazdiev examines the troops and equipment on the front line, and talks to the civilians caught up in the conflict.

Horror novelist Stephen King said he is embarrassed to have fallen for a prank call in which two well-known Russian pranksters pretended to be Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

In a peculiar video call with King posted online, the pranksters baited him into praising Stepan Bandera, a known Ukrainian nationalist. Bandera served as head of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN), responsible for massacres and ethnic cleansing, also implicated in collaboration with Nazi Germany during WW2. Nowadays Bandera is declared as a national hero of Ukraine.

As I've mentioned in the post above, there won't be Ukraine anymore. A hateful, Russophobic state like that can't exist, especially next to Russia. Russians and Ukrainians used to be one family. Most Ukrainians have now been "reprogrammed". Russia will fix this, as it always does, if you study Russian history

Russian sappers launch mine clearing operation in Mariupol airport

Mariupol Airport was the site of one of the conflict’s most heated battles, but the shadow of that battle lingers on. Like many areas, the airport was heavily mined as Ukrainian forces retreated.

On Wednesday, the demining operation began in earnest, as Russian sappers and their tracker dogs began work on clearing the territory. In addition to the mines, the airport is strewn with the remnants of Ukrainian military hardware, including caches of ammunition and unexploded ordnance. ‘We are clearing the area for the airport to start functioning in the future’, said Amir Shabanov, commander of the sapper unit.

Newspaper: Four mercenaries from the United States, Canada and Sweden were killed in Donbass

The American newspaper "Politico" reported that a group of mercenaries, including two people from the United States, in addition to a Canadian and a Swede, who fought alongside Kyiv forces, were killed this week in the Donbass.

‘We believe in two genders,’ says former President Trump

Former President Donald Trump has spoken out on the current debate surrounding what he calls ‘left wing gender ideology.’

Speaking in Florida on Saturday, Trump denounced the spread of ‘woke’ ideology in schools and the military, stating that American conservatives believe in God, ‘American pride’ and other traditional values, unlike ‘the forces we’re fighting.’
‘They believe in left wing gender ideology and toxic critical race theory. We believe in two genders. There are men and there are women. Two genders,’ said the former president.

He also slammed Joe Biden’s time in the White House, arguing that the US had gone from ‘the strongest that it has ever been… to perhaps the weakest, especially when you include recognition and respect from all around the world. We’re not respected any longer by anybody.’
