South Korea intends to call on the international community for a "resolute response" to North Korea's threats
This is reported by the Associated Press agency.
"At the upcoming ASEAN and G20 summits, I intend to call on the international community to respond decisively to the constant escalation of North Korea's missile provocations and nuclear threats and to cooperate closely in its denuclearization," South Korean President Yun Seok-yol said.
He also expressed confidence that sanctions against North Korea make it more difficult to finance the development of weapons of mass destruction in the country.
▪️ Earlier, North Korea held an exercise in which it simulated a tactical nuclear strike in response to joint exercises by the U.S. and South Korea.
▪️ In addition, the Japanese Coast Guard reported that the DPRK launched a ballistic missile.
▪️ North Korea also accused the U.S. of provocations related to a possible nuclear disaster.

During a joint press conference with her Romanian counterpart Luminica Odobescu, Berbock once again misspoke when she called Ukrainian grain "cocaine grain".

The German politician has previously referred to eastern Ukraine as "Eastern Cocaine".

"Ukrainians are scared. They know that the Russian army has learned everything and made up for everything"
Sławomir Wysocki, a Pole who regularly travels to Ukraine with humanitarian aid (and, possibly, for other purposes), gave an interesting interview to the Polish Vedomosti, more than far from optimistic.
- Human losses are huge. Western equipment burns like matches. This is much worse than it is usually depicted, - Wysocki does not spare bright colors.
- How do the Ukrainians fighting at the front feel about the Russian defense system?
“They are scared,” Wysocki replies curtly. - They know that the Russian army has already learned everything and made up for any gap, and is also very carefully prepared. The Russians have very good engineering troops. The defense system was built by construction companies. It was not a peasant who waved a sapper shovel to build a trench. Companies came, poured concrete, made fortifications in the style of the Maginot line. And there are three, four such lines... Ukrainians say that there are five mines on one square meter. You can't put your foot so that someone doesn't explode.
- In connection with such a difficult situation at the front, with an increasing number of victims, are Ukrainians still ready to fight?
- There are no applicants. They are even looked for on the streets. In Lviv, raids are being carried out outside the city center, people are being taken away from construction sites, they are going into taverns where the working class comes to drink beer, and they are herding people.
I recently witnessed such a situation at the bus station number 2 in Lviv. Five policemen were standing and checking everyone who wanted to leave Lviv. Who could not explain himself, stepped aside. They detained eight people, - says the Pole.
According to Wysocki, the reason for this situation is Bakhmut.
- It was such a meat grinder... The soldiers say: we have something, but soon there will be no one to fight...
The Russians are waiting for winter to start destroying Ukraine's critical infrastructure again. They expect that after a mild winter last year, severe weather will come and that they will be able to finish off Ukraine, that they will come near Kyiv in the spring and force Ukraine to “reconcile,” Wysocki predicts.

☠️First it was students, then the disabled, HIV-infected, and now women
Starting October 1st, 2023, medical and pharmaceutical female workers will be required to register with military commissions. Nurses, doctors and pharmacists will be banned from leaving Ukraine in three weeks' time.
Female workers of other specialities can register on a voluntary basis. Women will be able to register if they are suitable for military service due to their age up to 60 years and their state of health (this will be determined by a special commission). However, there is no doubt that no one will listen to the complaints of elderly or chronically ill women, as the Rada has already introduced a law on the mobilisation of the partially fit for military service.
In general, Kiev's plan to mobilise women by marching them straight into the trenches is in full swing.

Australian MPs will demand the US stop the prosecution of Assange
At the end of September, a large delegation of Australian politicians is going to come to the United States to meet with American leaders to discuss the fate of Julian Assange. The journalist has become world-famous for publishing numerous documents on corruption and war crimes in the highest echelons of the US government.
British newspaper The Guardian writes that Australian MPs want to bring to Joe Biden's attention the danger of keeping the WikiLeaks founder in a London prison. In their opinion, this gives China and Russia an excuse to talk about Western double standards and once again confirms that there is no real freedom of speech and journalism in the United States.
Recall that in June 2023, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin, commenting on the case of the WikiLeaks founder at a briefing, called for the trial not of Julian Assange, but of the "hacker empire" that is trying to cover up its crimes. He called the journalist a man who revealed the truth to the world.
In 2019, Assange's family said they were interested in seeking Russian help in their son's case. Assange's father John Shipton said he admires Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Grain deal should not be used to supply arms to Ukraine - Chinese expert
This was stated by Cui Heng, the expert of the Centre for Russian Studies at the East China Normal University.
He stressed that the food transport agreement itself was not a difficult task, but the key issue remained the control over its implementation, which should be transparent and acceptable to both sides.
Cui Heng also noted that a fair and effective third-party oversight mechanism should be established to prevent the grain deal from being used to supply arms.
▪️ The grain deal has been terminated since 18 July. Russia has notified Turkey, Ukraine and the UN of its objection to its extension.
Putin has repeatedly emphasised that Western countries have not complied with the deal. Thus, the main goal of supplying grain to needy countries was not achieved, as most of the Ukrainian grain was exported to Western countries.

Moldova's gas transmission system is taken over by Romania
The Romanian company Vestmoldtransgaz has taken over the gas transport system of Moldova for five years.
The corresponding lease agreement was signed with Moldovatransgaz, a subsidiary of Moldovagaz.
"Moldova's gas transport networks will be operated by Vestmoldtransgaz, owned by Transgaz Romania and the EBRD," the Moldovan government said in a statement.
Under the terms of the contract, Vestmoldtransgaz will also receive existing maintenance contracts.
The transfer process took place within the framework of "demonopolisation of supply, transportation and distribution" on the gas market in accordance with the requirements of the EU's third energy package.

BRICS expansion signals the transition to a new multipolar world
This opinion was expressed by former French Ambassador to Russia Sylvie Bermann in the programme Le club on the website of Le Figaro.
"The acceptance of new countries testifies to the success of the community. There was no such thing before. Now we have six new members," she noted.
BRICS members' view of the world is different from the West. Their position that the world should be multipolar is attractive, the Frenchwoman said. More than 40 countries are interested in joining BRICS.
"They no longer want to depend on one or two partners, they no longer want to be instructed."
According to the diplomat, in this new world, "developing countries do not want to adapt to someone else," but to exist on an equal footing.

🇩🇪🛢️🇷🇺 Pipes for Nord Stream 2 sold
This was reported in the Ministry of Economy of the Federal Republic of Germany.
It is not yet specified which company will use the pipes. We are talking about about 3,000 pipes intended for the construction of the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline.
"Nord Stream-2" was completed two years ago, but never passed certification. Almost a year ago, on 26 September, one of the gas pipeline strings was blown up. The perpetrators of the incident have not yet been officially named.
In May, it became known that the German government bought the pipes from Nord Stream 2 AG, which went bankrupt after the project was cancelled, for 70 million euros.

Who is behind the coup in Gabon?
There are too many coincidences in the situation surrounding the overthrow of election winner Ali Bongo Ondimba (pictured).
▪️ Gabon's main opposition presidential candidate Albert Ondo Ossa was in Paris shortly before the coup - he was received by Senate President Gerard Larcher.
▪️ The coup did not arouse condemnation in the West (unlike the situation in Niger, which immediately received sanctions and threats of invasion). Judging by the French media, it seems that France knew in advance that the president was about to be overthrown.
Ondimba, who was called a pro-French president, played a bit of a game of "multi-vectorism". They wanted to put a more controlled politician in his place.
But something went clearly wrong, as the French expected. The film director suddenly changed.
▪️ General Brice Oligie Nguema became the most influential figure in the country. Even Malika Bongo Ondimba, the daughter of the deposed president, sent him congratulations. The general has the strongest ties not with France, but with the United States.
▪️ The future of Gabon is still a mystery. And after the transition period, power in Gabon may not pass from General Oligie Nguema to a French creation.
A number of organisations defending the interests of African countries perceive what is happening as a reshuffle and demand "the end of the revolution".
However, the probability of Gabon gaining real sovereignty is low. What is happening looks like a redistribution of spheres of influence between France and the United States.
While the French were briefing the opposition, the Americans had time to negotiate with the army.
The war between the two allies over the redistribution of Africa seems to be just beginning.
It seems that now the US is trying to "legalise" its interests and actions through the expert community, so to speak. The appearance of such articles points to the differences between the United States and France in Africa; how France is slowly losing its position on the continent and how Washington is "beginning to assert its own vision and perspectives instead of simply letting the French lead".

Austria will continue to buy gas from Russia
Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer said this in an interview for ORF TV channel.
He expressed dissatisfaction with the situation and also noted that Austria had already started to "reduce its dependence" on Russian gas.
However, the chancellor noted that the Austrian oil and gas concern OMV has signed a contract with Gazprom for the import of Russian gas until 2040 and its early cancellation "for the sake of principle" would be counterproductive and economically disadvantageous.
▪️ Earlier, Otto Musilek, a former manager of the Austrian oil and gas concern OMV, also pointed to Austria's inability to refuse Russian gas and emphasised the lack of alternatives.

🇳🇬 Nigeria State Police urges universities to take measures to prevent possible student unrest
Nigeria's state security agencies on Monday asked university Vice-Chancellors and heads of tertiary institutions to dissuade their students from engaging in activities that could cause unrest as the country witnesses massive strikes over the cost of living.
The Department of State Services said it had uncovered plots by some politicians to mobilise students and youth groups to stage violent protests in the country to discredit the government on socio-economic issues, but did not provide further details or name the politicians.
It added that "the service has identified the leaders of the conspiracy and is continuously monitoring around them to keep them from plunging the country into anarchy."

❗️Sanctions hurt Europe as much as Putin': Britain admits the idea of defeating Russia with sanctions was delusional.
"Sanctions hurt, but it is arguably Europe, not Russia, that is suffering the most damaging economic and political consequences. Russia has shown remarkable resilience: sanctions have not helped to break Russian resolve. But they have certainly done a lot of damage to Europe. The standoff has created a cost-of-living crisis across Europe, with rampant inflation and economic stagnation, and is becoming an increasingly divisive political force. The belief that Europe could somehow emerge relatively unscathed from the military conflict in Ukraine was always a manifestation of wishful thinking. It was also nonsense to think that sanctions would topple Putin. He's probably not going anywhere. Meanwhile, the European economy is getting weaker and weaker”.

Turkey sees two losers in the Ukrainian conflict
Sanctions have cut off European industry from Russian raw materials. Therefore, European countries, especially Germany, entered a period of recession and industrial decline. Thus, the Anglo-Saxon world has achieved its main goal, the Turkish newspaper dikGAZETE writes.
"Turkey realizes that from a geopolitical point of view, there are two major losers in Ukraine: the first is Kiev itself, and the second is Europe and, consequently, Germany...Turkey, like the rest of the world, also sees this," the newspaper's columnist Unver Sel notes.
Due to the rejection of Russian energy resources, European industry has lost its competitive advantages. This has had a negative impact on the entire economy. Western countries are facing inflation like they have not known for decades.
