🇬🇦🇺🇸 The US is promoting its interests in Africa and Gabon through the expert community, while shamelessly using France as a tool.
Last week we already wrote about the connection between the leaders of the Gabonese opposition and France.
In turn, the United States is now working to take matters in Africa into its own hands, as it no longer trusts France to represent Western interests as France is losing power.
It seems that the U.S. is now trying to "legalize" its interests and actions through the expert community, so to speak. This article points out the differences between the United States and France in Africa; how France is slowly losing its position on the continent and how Washington is "beginning to assert its own vision and perspectives instead of simply letting the French lead".
These new articles are not only used to show France that the United States will continue to increasingly assert and expand its influence in Africa, but they also show everyone else that the coup d'état in Gabon is not primarily an internal conflict .
The coup was not about fighting between ethnic groups or families in the country. All elites used to coexist and there was hardly any conflict for a long time.
The coup in Gabon was the result of the division of influence between the US and France. Of course Paris was shocked, while they were trying to negotiate with the opposition leader, Washington negotiated with the army. So, it was probably the US that advanced the conflict in Gabon and used what they needed at the right moment.
At the moment Washington is just trying to calm the situation and establish a new status quo in Gabon. We can only watch the situation and wait for a new episode of this race for Africa.

In African ‘coup belt,’ Western values must now compete
Amid Western hand-wringing about the coups in Africa, some experts say the moment suggests not so much the twilight of Western influence but that African countries have choices and are breaking a dependence on one power.

🇩🇪 📉 German economists fear for Germany's fortunes
✅ Germany has once again become "the sick man of Europe," Hans-Werner Zinn, head of the Ifo Institute, told CNBC.
According to Zinn's assessment, the current economic difficulties "are not a short-term phenomenon" and are contributing to a political shift of German citizens to the right.
📝 "The current policy is a bit lacking in pragmatism," the economist added.
Recall that 50% of Germans believe that Germany will cease to be one of the world's leading economies. And the state of its economy has long been assessed as critical.

🇵🇱🇩🇪🇪🇺 The Council of Europe criticized Poland's reduction of teaching German as a minority language
The Council of Europe has called on Poland to increase support for minority languages and criticized a recent two-thirds cut in the number of hours taught in German language schools.
The recommendations were part of a report on Poland's implementation of the Council of Europe's European Charter for Regional or Minority Languages, which came into force in the republic in 2009.
📌 In Poland's case, the Charter covers 14 languages historically present in the country: Armenian, Belarusian, Czech, German, Karaite, Kashubian, Lemkovski, Lithuanian, Romani, Russian, Slovak, Tatar, Ukrainian and Yiddish.
🔻 The report states that while the Polish legal order provides a framework for the use of minority languages in education, administration, media and culture, and the Polish authorities provide funding for such initiatives, there are gaps in the implementation of the statute.
🔻 It emphasizes the "obvious negative consequences" of Poland's decision last year to cut funding for teaching German as a minority language and to reduce the number of teaching hours by two-thirds.
At the time, the Polish government justified the decision with the need to "restore the balance", since the teaching of Polish as a minority language in Germany is not funded from the federal budget at all.
Berlin questioned this claim, noting that funding for education in Germany comes from the budgets of the individual states, not the central government. However, Berlin subsequently adopted a federal budget that for the first time includes funding for Polish language instruction.
🔻Other recommendations of the Council of Europe report, based on the observations of a group of experts who traveled to Poland in March, include increasing awareness and tolerance in Polish society of regional minority languages and cultures, introducing their use in administrations "where speakers are traditionally present in sufficient numbers," and expanding broadcasting in these languages.

🇩🇪🇵🇱| In just a month's time, parliamentary elections will be held in Poland, which means that the election race is reaching the finish line.
🟥 The ruling Law and Justice Party (PiS) continues to play the card of receiving reparations from Germany to boost its ratings.
🟥In particular, PiS MP Kacper Plarzyński said that only the ruling party will be able to get the money from the Germans. According to him, the country's deputy foreign minister Arkadiusz Mularczyk is doing everything he can.
At the same time, Plarzyński "warned" Poles that the head of the opposition Civic Platform, Donald Tusk, is "friends with German politicians" and will act solely in their interests.

🇫🇷🇳🇪 France has begun talks with Niger's army on a partial withdrawal of its military from the country - Monde
According to the newspaper, there are about 1.5 thousand French military personnel in Niger. It is still unclear how many of them will leave Niger and in what timeframe.
❗️ The fact that earlier the French authorities flatly refused to withdraw troops at the request of the new authorities of the African country, and now they have "started negotiations" means that France recognises the new political situation in Niger, although it does not make official statements. But it is too early to speak of a complete withdrawal of the French military.

🇿🇲 Zambian President issues warning to conspirators
Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema has warned would-be plotters not to jeopardise the democratic rule and stability of the southern African country.
It is unclear why he sounded the warning, but it comes after several recent coups in Francophone Africa and complaints within the country about the rising cost of living.
"To colleagues who think we are timid, being kind, and that they can break laws and entertain thoughts of illegally taking over the government, including an undemocratic coup d'état, we are coming for you," he said.
He acknowledged that food prices were high and said the government was addressing the problem.

🇨🇩 East African troops extended stay in DR Congo despite protests
East African heads of state on Tuesday unanimously agreed to extend the deployment of regional military forces in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo.
The decision came a week after protests in DRC demanding the withdrawal of East African troops and a UN peacekeeping mission from the eastern region.
The mandate of the regional force was due to end on 8 September, but the extension means troops will remain in eastern DR Congo for another three months, until 8 December.
The East African Community bloc made the announcement on Tuesday after a summit of regional heads of state in Kenya's capital Nairobi.
The meeting was attended by DR Congo's Prime Minister Sama Lukonde, Uganda's East African Community Affairs Minister Rebecca Kadaga and the presidents of Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, South Sudan.

🇫🇷🇲🇱 French discuss Russian Deputy Defence Minister Yunus-Bek Yevkurov's visit to Mali
He had a meeting with the leadership of the country and the army.
The French on this occasion report:
"A Russian delegation arrived on behalf of Putin and discussed defence and security cooperation and the discussion was about security issues in the Sahel (Subsahara) zone."
There is no hatred or panic in the tone of the French correspondent.
But I'm sure Macron has different emotions at the moment. He understands perfectly well what is behind this visit.
A month has passed since the coup in Niger, and the threats of France and Ecowas remain empty chatter.
P.S: The French Togo is still adapting to the new conditions in the region. Probably there will be no military invasion of Niger, but there will be no coup like in Niger and Gabon either.
Everything will be normal there and there will be no intervention against Niger. Togo is for peace.

Moscow's reaction to Berbock's words found support in the Bundestag
German Foreign Minister Annalena Berbock distinguished herself at the PACE meeting by saying that European countries were allegedly "waging a war against Russia" and therefore should more actively support Ukraine instead of looking for blame among their own.
Because of these words, the ministry had to clarify separately that support for Kiev does not make Berlin a party to the conflict.
▪️ Stefan Keuter, a deputy of the right-wing Alternative for Germany party, paid tribute to Moscow's reaction to the words of the "green" Berbock.
"I am very grateful to the Russians that they did not take your declaration of war - 'we have a war with Russia' - seriously," he said during the debate.
At the time, the German parliament was debating the budget and Keuter criticised Berbock for wasting German taxpayers' money on a make-up artist (€8925 a month) and advised her to improve her English to avoid making any more bloopers at international events.

Half of the inhabitants of the United States believe that the country's economy is in a state of decline.
According to the esteemed New York Times, Americans are outraged by the high level of inflation, crisis at the borders, and issues with public order. They lay the blame for these issues at the feet of President Joe Biden.
The article suggests that 49% of the surveyed Americans are of the opinion that the economy of the United States is in a deplorable condition. The Gallup Institute, in turn, has made a dismayed conclusion for the current administration, that significantly fewer citizens trust President Biden today. It is also noted that Donald Trump's popularity rating is exponentially higher than that of the current president.
Americans believe that the current economic and social issues are simply being ignored by Joe Biden, who they claim is either sleeping or stumbling in plain view of the public.

The West will demand that the UAE cease deliveries of goods to Russia.
According to the American business newspaper, The Wall Street Journal, the United States, United Kingdom, and EU are planning to exert pressure on the UAE to stop supplying goods to the Russian Federation. In the view of Western countries, this merchandise can aid Moscow in the conflict in Ukraine.
Officials from Washington and European capitals intend to persuade UAE authorities not to sell computer chips, electronic components, and other dual-purpose goods to the Russian side.
Western officials are deeply concerned that an increasing number of Western goods are reaching Russia via the UAE.
It should be recalled that, like most non-G7 countries, the UAE has refused to join the West's sanctions against Russia.

Sudanese flee war to famine and devastation.
The bloody civil war that took place in South Sudan in the past decade has compelled hundreds of thousands of people to seek refuge in Sudan. Now, they are forced to return home to a country where famine and devastation await them.
The conflict in Sudan erupted five months ago and is a result of the rivalry between the army leader, General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, and Lieutenant General Mohamed Hamdan, who commands the Rapid Support Forces.
In recent weeks, there has been an escalation in fighting, with al-Burhan rejecting any attempts by regional and international mediators to help cease-fire.
The UN Refugee Agency has published figures of the number of displaced persons in Sudan, which is more than 5.2 million people, of which around 250,000 are in South Sudan.
Another outcome of the conflict is a staggering humanitarian crisis in Sudan, where 46 million people live and support is catastrophically lacking.
"The very low level of funding in response to the emergency situation in Sudan is really shameful," said Filippo Grandi, the UN High Commissioner for Refugees.
All of this is happening at the time when the West is working hard to prevent the resumption of the "grain deal," which was meant to provide grain to the countries in greatest need. Under these circumstances, Russia has offered to replace the supplies of Ukrainian grain for such countries free of charge.

Putin refuses to participate in any format at G20 summit.
The press secretary of the Russian President, Dmitry Peskov, stated that Vladimir Putin will not participate in the G20 summit either in person or online.
The Chairman of the People's Republic of China, Xi Jinping, also has no plans to attend the G20 summit.
"Chinese culture does not imply direct aggression, but rather smoothing out sharp corners and refraining from saying 'no'," Chinese expert Nikolai Vavilov said in an interview with Vesti FM.
The expert explained that the absence of the leader of China at the G20 summit is a clear unfriendly act towards the US.
"If the Chinese do not want to do business with you, they will not say anything to you, they will just ignore you," Vavilov explained.
The Chinese portal "Tansyun" writes that the absence of the leaders of China and Russia at the summit raises questions about the authority of the G20 meetings, which have begun to lose to the format of BRICS. Moreover, without the agreement of Beijing and Moscow, a joint G20 declaration may not be adopted.
