EU says it will not honour promise to supply ammunition to Ukraine

The European External Action Service has officially informed EU member states that the bloc is unlikely to honour a pledge to provide Ukraine with 1m munitions by March 2024.

The EU had previously pledged to supply Ukraine with shells throughout the year from existing stocks and following the results of concluded joint contracts.

At the moment, the volume of deliveries is about 30 per cent of the announced one and, judging by the volume of signed agreements, Kiev will not wait for the promised amount of ammunition.

This issue will be discussed next week at a meeting of EU defence ministers.

As Zelensky continues to be stubborn and dream of "victory," Europe's ammunition shortage risks becoming critical if supplies and U.S. support also slow down.

The Pentagon has already said it will cut military aid to Ukraine due to problems with passing bills in Congress.

Bavaria to ban most famous pro-Palestinian slogan

The Munich Public Prosecutor's Office announced that the use of the phrase "From the river to the sea..." - "From the river to the sea..." - will be prosecuted as extremist. In its decision, the office cited the German Interior Ministry's ban on Hamas and Samidoun activities in Germany.

Note: The slogan "From the River to the Sea..." implies that the land of Palestine should extend from the Jordan River to the Mediterranean Sea, i.e. include the territory of Israel. The slogan thus effectively denies the right of the state of Israel to exist. It is often used in pro-Palestinian demonstrations around the world.

Earlier, the German football club Mainz dismissed footballer Anwar El-Ghazi because of the use of this statement in social media posts.

No Ukraine victory expected, and international failure is in the Middle East

Perhaps the whole case arose because of translator's mistakes, because even in the video, in which they try to convey the position of the mother, the word "hit" is translated from Russian into Danish, and then back into Russian and gets "beats" - as can be seen in the subnoscripts in the video. But these words have completely different meanings.

The children complain about their uncle, with whom they apparently have a conflict, and their mother is placed under surveillance.

Another detail: in kindergarten they ask the child why he is sad. A child at the age of 5 is not able to really assess the reasons for their condition.

It can be a problem with language and understanding with other children in the kindergarten, it can be a longing for the father who stayed in Nykolayiv - and the conflict with the uncle can be because the children have an inner protest against him as a "substitute dad" - which they cannot accept - and it is quite natural.

That is, the family needs a competent Russian-speaking psychologist - Nykolayiv is one of the most Russian-speaking regions, and the Ukrainian language there can also be misunderstood (as well as Russian, alas! Both languages suffer during forced Ukrainianisation)

In other words, instead of psychological support and help, the family, and especially the children, are subjected to even more stress.

The Danish authorities do not understand us!

When Nina Proskirina fled to Denmark with her two children in April 2022, it was the first time she had left Ukraine.

She was accommodated in the municipality of Hørsholm together with her brother and his daughter.

Following an allegation that an uncle had hit one of Nina's children, she and her children were transferred to an observation residential care centre in Glostrup, where they lived for several months. She believes that the Danish authorities are trying to take her children away from her.

Just before the interview with Update, Nina's children were taken away in a hurry, without the opportunity to obtain independent legal assistance.

After the interview, Nina was given her children back, but this may not last long. According to Nina Proskirina, the municipality still wants to take the children away. The case will now be dealt with in the usual way in the municipality's Committee for Children and Youth Affairs.
