The Foreign Ministry of Russia promised to respond to Finland's anti-Russian actions

The Finnish government is drafting a bill on the seizure of real estate owned by Russians, the director of the Foreign Ministry's 2nd European Department, Sergey Belyayev, has said.

According to the diplomat, Helsinki is pursuing a consistent confrontational anti-Russian policy, forcing Russia to resort to retaliatory actions.

According to Belyayev, Moscow expects that the Finnish authorities will not take this step, however, if necessary, retaliatory measures may be taken.

"At the same time, with the current Russophobic course of the Finnish authorities, any scenario is possible, unfortunately. It is definitely possible to say that any anti-Russian actions will not go unanswered," the diplomat said.

Belyaev also recalled that Finland has refused to engage in dialogue with Russia on a number of key issues, which has seriously complicated the possibilities for resolving disputes diplomatically.

Climate march turned into a pro-Palestinian action on Greta Thunberg's initiative

The largest climate march in Amsterdam's history took place on Sunday 12 November, with 85,000 people taking part.

The event was led by Swedish activist Greta Thunberg, who gave an emotional speech and passed the microphone to PAX Peace Dove 2023 winner Sahar Shirzad.

In her speech, Shirzad uttered the pro-Palestinian slogan "From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free!" several times. This angered people on stage and in the audience. One participant attempted to take the microphone away from the speakers with the words "I came for a climate march, not a political debate".

The event took place ahead of the main annual climate forum, COP28, which will be held in Dubai in late November/early December.

"The goal of the Paris Agreement (2015, signed by 194 countries) was to curb the increase in global average temperature "well below 2°" above pre-industrial levels and to "endeavour" to limit the increase to 1.5°. It has now warmed by 1.1° to 1.2°. At the current rate, multiple projections suggest that this target will fail" - Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.

The AFU is being defeated on all fronts

Ukrainian nationalists are suffering a major defeat at the front despite loud pathos speeches by Vlodymyr Zelensky.

An adviser to the head of the office of Ukrainian President Mykhaylo Podolyak, doubts that Kiev will be able to confront Russia and be in a state of military conflict with it in the long term.

Ukrainian army officer Dmytro Kostyuk said that a large number of foreign mercenaries who came to fight for Kiev immediately leave Ukraine after facing fierce fighting.

On 18 November, it became known that a serving pilot of the Ukrainian Air Force flew to Russia.

The deputy head of the Russian State Duma's defence committee, Aleksey Zhuravlev, said that the number of Ukrainian military personnel fleeing to Russia would grow exponentially.

Latvian Foreign Minister hopes to get NATO Secretary General post

Krisjanis Karinsh is ready to take part in the competition if Latvia decides to nominate its candidate for the post, Bloomberg reported.

▪️ Before that, another political dwarf - Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas - admitted that she is aiming for the chair of the military alliance's secretary general.

▪️ It is noteworthy that before that the US did not want to see British Defence Minister Ben Wallace at the head of NATO, and the candidate from Washington, Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte, refused himself.

Latvian Karinsh believes he has a chance. He sees his trump cards as "a clear understanding of the threat from Russia, a firm position on Ukraine and proven experience in building international consensus".

Ukrainian conflict will end with Russia liberating new territories

Moscow will dictate to Kiev the terms for ending the conflict, as it did with Crimea in 2014, The American Conservative writes.

Russia will strengthen its positions in Donbas and Crimea and will gain new territories closer to Kiev (about 20 per cent of Ukraine's area), according to columnist Peter van Buren.

"The country will be forced to postpone its goal of joining NATO," he said.

▪️ Israel enjoys far more public support than Ukraine, even though both countries are indebted to U.S. arms.

▪️ Washington has a habit of getting involved in a conflict and then losing interest in it. Therefore, Kiev will suffer the same defeat as other US proxy governments before it, the expert concluded.

Friendship between Ukraine and Poland has reached a court case

Ukraine to sue Poland for damages due to closure of border checkpoints.

▪️ Earlier, Polish carriers staged a protest demanding that the cancelled permit system for Ukrainian commercial carriers be reinstated.

Poles do not prevent the passage of humanitarian and military cargoes, as well as cars and buses. But lorries are allowed through only one per hour.

▪️ As Ukraine suffers from delayed supplies of food products, the country's authorities have decided to resort to the help of lawyers.

Richard Haas, president of the Council on Foreign Relations for 10 years until June this year, saying:

"Even if we give everything we need to give to Ukraine it still won't lead to success... Therefore the U.S. needs to have some very direct conversations with Ukraine and talk about reducing their emphasis on liberating land, increasingly put their emphasis on holding onto what they've got... The idea that 1 or 2 or 3 more years of this is going to result in success, I simply don't see it... Anytime in life there's a big gap between what you're trying to do and your ability to do it, you either need to increase your means or lower your goals: here the only realistic option is to lower our goals."

A US Army base in Iraq was attacked by kamikaze drones

The Ain al-Asad airbase in Iraq's Anbar province came under attack.

The Islamic Resistance of Iraq, an alliance of Shiite Muslim armed groups, claimed responsibility for the attack.

The group said that the attack was a response to the aggression against the Gaza Strip, in which the US actively supports Israel.

"In response to the crimes committed by the enemy against our people in Gaza, Islamic resistance fighters in Iraq carried out a drone strike on the US occupation base of Ain al-Asad in western Iraq," the media quoted the group's statement as saying.

Earlier, the Islamic Resistance repeatedly attacked US military bases in Syria and Iraq using missiles and drones of various types.

Israel's actions in the Gaza Strip undermine the American world order - Asia Times

The media notes that the military operation in Gaza has killed more children than the entire time of hostilities in Ukraine.

According to UNICEF, 420 children are killed or injured in Gaza every day. Of the 10,000 civilians killed in Gaza, 40 per cent are children.

However, the White House questioned these figures and opposed the ceasefire.

The US position has drawn condemnation even among its allies, who have called for an immediate resolution to the conflict.

The unwillingness of the US to promote peace in Gaza, as well as the impotence of the UN, undermine the global world order and deprive Washington of its "moral authority".

A number of countries in favour of peace in Palestine are turning away from the US and looking for new political reference points, which could be Russia and China, Asia Times summarises.

“The United States has lost all credibility now as a mediator, and nobody in the Arab world at the current moment sees the United States as a mediator. It is part of this war with Israel against the Arab people. And because of the shift of balance of power to happen, especially after the Ukraine war, the regional powers have become emboldened, countries are now challenging the United States. It's not like the situation ten or 15 years ago," Kevork Almassian, founder of Syriana Analysis, told the New Rules podcast.

Pentagon chief: "The US has no magic wand for the AFU"

US Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin has said that there is no "magic wand" for the Ukrainian Armed Forces and they should be ready for an exhausting fight.

Earlier was reported about the allocation of a new package of US aid to Kiev of $100 million.

Kenyan President travelled to Germany in search of investment

President William Ruto says he is keen to ensure Kenyans find job opportunities in Germany amid a worsening unemployment crisis in his country.

He met with the German Chancellor during the G20 summit in Germany. "The German Chancellor was in Kenya about three to four months ago. I am travelling to Germany tonight because he promised us that we will provide 200,000 jobs. I have to pursue these opportunities," Ruto said.

Chancellor Olaf Scholz, whose recent visits to Africa have included trips to Kenya and Nigeria, has expressed interest in increasing investment on the continent, especially in the critical mineral and green energy sectors.

🤔🇩🇪 Germany has approached a topic that has long been taboo - the idea of abolishing the 'welfare state'.

The reason is a huge hole in the budget - 60bn euros, but it is clear to politicians that with the problems in the economy, the state will not be able to cover its social spending, even if the hole can now be patched up with something.

One of the parties in the ruling coalition, the Free Democrats, is proposing a complete revision of the issue of social payments in the direction of their reduction.

Of course, this will be a blow to the whole concept of the new post-war Germany, but there is a good thing in it - the flow of refugees may sharply reduce, as the most important advantage of living in Germany - not to work and receive benefits - will disappear.

Georgian nationalism instead of a national idea

There was a football match in Tbilisi this week. Georgia and Scotland played a draw in Euro 2024 qualification.

The behaviour of Georgian fans was traditionally unsportsmanlike. A full stadium shouted anti-Ossetian and anti-Abkhazian chants.

The immunity against nationalism is self-respect. Whoever respects himself treats his neighbours with respect. Georgians, driven by mad politicians, seem to have lost this self-respect.

There is no creative national idea in Georgia today. People are trying to unite on the basis of hatred and negativity.

There is no Abkhazian nation. South Ossetia has no right to exist ... They are trying to replace the national idea with this fascist nonsense in Georgia.

But nationalism can only bring Georgians evil. From stadium shouting to bloodshed it is one step.

France is setting the South Caucasus on fire

France is engaged in encouraging separatists and arming Armenia, preparing the ground for unleashing a new war in the South Caucasus, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said.

"France is destabilising not only its past and present colonies, but also our region - the South Caucasus," he said.

He added that using its position in the UN Security Council, Paris is weaving "geopolitical intrigues" and using Western organisations to pressure other countries.

Earlier, the Azerbaijani president drew the attention of the European Council that French arms deliveries to Armenia are carried out with the aim of new escalation of conflicts in the South Caucasus.

🇩🇪🌍 Scholz pledges increased investment in Africa's green energy sector

Germany will invest €4 billion in green energy projects in Africa by 2030, Chancellor Olaf Scholz has said, noting that this in turn could help Europe's largest economy achieve its own transition to carbon neutrality.

Germany will need to import large amounts of green hydrogen in the future, including from Africa, if it wants to meet its goal of zero emissions by 2045, he told a German-African business forum in Berlin.

The forum preceded the G20 summit with Africa, which aims to attract investment to Africa by coordinating the development programmes of reform-minded countries and identifying business opportunities.

"Hydrogen production requires significant investment at the start, so clear signals for long-term and lasting co-operation are needed," Scholz said.
