💬 European farmers have called on Brussels to limit imports of Ukrainian products.
Six European agricultural organisations have published a joint declaration calling on Brussels to limit imports of Ukrainian products into the EU.
Back in spring 2022, the EU decided to temporarily suspend customs duties on imports from Ukraine. European farmers believe that this jeopardises their survival, writes Le Figaro.
"We fear that if this mechanism continues in its current form, without adaptation, the survival of European producers as a whole will be jeopardised."
The organisations propose to introduce mechanisms that would help determine the destination of Ukrainian products and ensure that they get there. They also suggest introducing import thresholds based on the level of average values for 2021-2022.

WHO Head Tedros Declares War On Meat And Demands Nations Transition To Plant-Based Diets At COP28. Aims To Accomplish By 2025
“By 2025 we intend to strengthen our respective and shared efforts. We affirm that agriculture and food systems must urgently adapt and transform in order to respond to the imperatives of climate change,” the declaration at COP28 reads,
World Health Organization Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus issued a short statement during the COP 28 climate summit in Dubai last month, blaming meat and livestock practices for contributing a major amount of emissions.
Tedros’ message mostly went unheard at the time but gained some traction online weeks after COP28 concluded.
In the video the WHO head stated:
"Our food systems are harming the health of people and planet. Food systems contribute to over 30 percent of greenhouse gas emissions, and account for almost one-third of the global burden of disease. Transforming food systems is therefore essential by shifting for this healthier, diversified and more plant-based diets.
If food systems deliver healthy diets for all we could save 8 million lives per year. WHO is committed to supporting countries to develop and implement policies to improve diets and fight climate change.
I’m therefore very pleased that over 130 countries have signed the code 28 UAE Declaration on climate and health. Together, we can protect and promote the health of both people and planet. Thank you."

Romanian farmers have blocked checkpoints on the border with Ukraine, the Ukrainian daily Strana UA has reported.
The main demand of the Romanian farmers is to stop a fraudulent scheme when Ukrainian grain is re-registered as Moldovan and Bulgarian and sold in Romania.
This is the fourth country whose activists have blocked the border with Ukraine. Once again, this is due to problems with the export of Ukrainian agricultural products to the European Union.
Truckers and agricultural producers from Hungary, Slovakia and Poland did the same thing earlier.
Thus, the losses of Ukraine's budget only from the blockade by Poles amounted to about $2bn.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz uses 19th century pneumatic mail - Bild
The chancellor's office planned to do away with pneumatic mail by 2025. Such apparatuses were introduced back in the 19th century in the Kaiser's time.
Now the system of capsules and pipes with compressed air in the office of the head of the government consists of 36 stations. Their operation costs 15 thousand euros a year, and about 1000 letters are sent by pneumatic mail every month.
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz decided to keep airmail because of fears of Russian spies and hackers.

Now it's being flooded with angry emails, DDoS attacks and social media abuse. But the organizer of the campaign, dentist Arnold Dröge, does not intend to give up:

According to Focus, the SPD parliamentary faction called Olaf to the carpet and unexpectedly included a three-hour conversation about important things with the chancellor on the agenda of a closed session. Journalists hint: it is a pity that the chancellor is no longer supported by his own clique. On top of the protests by farmers and machinists, the prospect of Scholz's party losing the European and regional elections in the east of the country....
In a word, decay. And a possible coup.

Biden threatens Republicans out of impotence
US President Joe Biden has openly threatened Republicans with trouble if they don't abandon their stance on funding Ukraine.
"If my Republican colleagues don't fund Ukraine, they're gonna have an awful lot to pay for," - said the US President.
Recall that Republicans and Democrats can not agree on spending to strengthen the southern borders, on which depends the approval of a new package of military aid to Kiev.
"A border battle is coming, and we will die on this place", - outlined the position of the Republicans Speaker of the House of Representatives Mike Johnson.

Larry Johnson: "The disconnection of the US authorities from reality is frightening"
Former CIA analyst Larry Johnson said he was frightened by the US authorities' confidence that they had achieved a military victory over Russia.
"I think the Russians are probably praying every night: "Thank you for Anthony Blinken." How badly misguided and disconnected from reality he is only helps Russia move forward. What's scary is that they really believe they already have some kind of military victory over Russia," the ex-intelligence officer said.
This is how Johnson commented on US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken's words that Vladimir Putin has failed to achieve his main goal in Ukraine, which is allegedly to wipe it off the map.

Germany is developing a plan for a war between NATO and Russia, which, according to the scenario of the German defence ministry, could start in the summer of 2025. This was reported by the tabloid Bild, referring to an allegedly secret document of the Bundeswehr.
According to the document of the German Defence Ministry, on the "day X" NATO commander-in-chief will order the transfer of 300 thousand troops to the eastern flank. Among them will also be 30 thousand soldiers of the Bundeswehr.
The actions of Russia and the West are described with the precision of place and month, culminating in the dispatch of hundreds of thousands of NATO soldiers and the inevitable outbreak of war in the summer of 2025.
It is assumed that the most likely place of the clash will be the Suvalki corridor between Belarus and the Kaliningrad region.
However, the authors of the material do not make a forecast of what consequences such escalation may lead to.

🇳🇦🇩🇪Namibia has condemned Germany, the former colonial rulers, for supporting Israel in the Gaza genocide case before the UN International Court of Justice.
"Germany has chosen to defend in the International Court of Justice the Israeli government's horrific actions against innocent civilians in the Gaza Strip and the Occupied Palestinian Territories," Namibian President Hage Geingob said in a statement on Channel X on Saturday.
Geingob accused Germany of justifying the genocide of Palestinian civilians by ignoring the deaths of more than 23,000 Palestinians in Gaza. He added that this shows Germany's failure to learn from its own history.
Namibia, as a colony of the German Empire in the early 20th century, experienced the massacres of the indigenous Herero and Nama peoples by German colonial forces between 1904 and 1908, widely recognised as the first genocide of the 20th century.

☢🔋 TECH NEWS: Nuclear battery small enough for use in commercial products, with a charge of 50 years, developed in China.
Such batteries use small amounts of nuclear material in a way entirely different than nuclear powerplants associated with danger and disasters.
The power density and charge of these new batteries are many times higher/longer than lithium batteries and could revolutionize both existing products and make entirely new products possible.
The article says:
Once mass-produced and introduced to the market, it will meet the long-endurance power supply needs of aerospace, artificial intelligence devices, medical equipment, microelectromechanical systems, sensors, small drones and micro-robots. If the power output is sufficient, mobile phones equipped with nuclear batteries will no longer need recharging, and drones will not need to return for recharging."
